XXXTENTACLES I just haven’t adjusted to it yet. And I don’t have reliable income yet. Once that settles in then maybe I’ll get Apple Music. I’m just not ready for it yet.
I like buying my music because there's a certain power in ownership that you just don't get with these subscription services. I want to know I have the hard mp3 (or whatever else) file on my hard drive somewhere. I don't even buy enough music for it to be worth the seemingly cheap monthly cost. I'd buy maybe one or two popular songs each month, and perhaps if I really like an old album, I can buy a CD for $1-3 online and rip it into iTunes to have forever. It's like the difference between owning and renting a home. I don't want much of this indefinite spending month after month with no end in sight (and potential price hikes and artists pulling their music at will).
myowncomputerstuff You just took the words right out of my mouth. I do really like that assurance that I actually have it and can listen to it anytime I want. My sister actually still has some old CDs that she lets me borrow sometimes. I also really want an iPod Classic sometime soon.
i disagree with your comparison between Itunes functions and OS across platforms. you have to different OS for these platforms because the architecture for the devices are different therefore you need to make it differently. Also, if they just kept Itunes to music, podcasts and radio, that will help a lot. I like having podcast and all audio formats in the same area.
Thank god for this. I was actually confused what iTunes is for when I wanted to buy songs. I didn’t know if I should buy from iTunes or the Music app because I remember reading somewhere that iTunes is now a music streaming app which got me even more confused if they still sell songs or not.
I did that but kept it. It's a 4s and iPad 2 on iOS 6 as it's the only one Apple has allowed to downgrade to that iOS. I wish it was iPhone 4 on iOS 5 tho
I was an avid user if iTunes from when it began to right around version 11.4 (I think) which was the last version of iTunes before Music was introduced. After had introduced the new version, they decided to compromise by destroying the OLD functions that made me rely on it so heavily. I was and still am a heavy iPod Classic user ( I know, discontinued, but...) the old device had features that are now lost to the iPod especially when it comes to playback flexibility. 1_ I have the ability to shuffle by Artist, Album, Song. 2_ I can create folders in iTunes that carry Playlists, and I can SHUFFLE the entire folder without creating a separate playlist to tell it to do just that. (I have a ton of motion picture soundtracks that I like to work to, I like to shuffle the order of the soundtracks, but keep the tracks in order. Why create playlists? Some soundtracks will have one or two tracks that are not easy listening, when you take that track out, suddenly the soundtrack is perfect.) 3_ When I shuffle iTunes/iPod Classic had a very good algorithm that it used to shuffle music, but best part was the reassurance that when I shuffled, the ENTIRE playlist would get shuffled. The confirmation of that would be a counter that relayed: 1 of 2991 songs (or however many songs there were). With this, I could set up playlists to be 8, 16, 24.. or however many hours I wanted my music to play for (on an iPod classic, the bonus feature was wherever I hit the Play Button, the device would keep the entire playlist shuffle in its memory so all I had to do is hit play once again to continue from where I left off. the current iTunes doesn't have these features anymore. I am glad to see iTunes go. The way I see it, even IF the new apps do not restore my functionality to the way I liked it, by 's decision to part ways also means I will be able to UNINSTALL safely, with no consequences, iTunes and REINSTALL an earlier version of iTunes WITH the functionality that I really want to keep. If for no other reason, that is why I'm happy to see it go.
Pye Ltd I just tried that. I deleted iTunes and installed version 11. MacOS says that it cannot be used with my current os. I have decided to switch my entire library to the PC side. I forgot I could do that.
Apple has lost the Plot. The reason I moved from PC to Mac in 2005 was the ease of use of Apple. Today Apple is becoming overly complicated and very difficult to use. I miss the days when Apple was intuitive. I pray that the developers of Apple are listening to their customers.
Nathaniel Ray when I got my first iPod I thought it was amazing if not a little cumbersome. I think it just needs a revamp and that’s it. Podcasts make sense to be in iTunes I don’t understand how many separate apps you can have on the desktop for this.
Gwendolyn Campbell I agree! I think an update with everything more simplified a bit would be better, but I suppose it’s not a bad idea separating it, I just would personally have preferred a simplified, enhanced iTunes
I agree iTunes should have been split up. But they did it the WRONG WAY. I would have loved it to be broken into two apps. One for my purchased media (music, TV, books, etc) and one for subscription services (Apple Music and Apple TV+). I have no plan on *subscribing* to anything for my music, and now this new Music app will just be a greater ploy for Apple to shove Apple Music down my throat when I just want to continue ripping my CD's buying a few popular songs on the store each year, and syncing them to my iOS device.
This is gonna end in a power play to deny your right to sync your music and stuff from your computer to the iPhone...ultimately forcing you into their Apple Music service and iCloud storage fees.
Is itunes still available now? I wanna buy a music and convert it on mp3 but I'm kinda worried at using it now... My ipad still has it since i still use ios14
Said by most of us. Also it's grammatically incorrect to have random capitalization. I may seem like a grammar Nazi, but I refined the English language as it is... so...
As he said, iTunes will still be in use on Windows. But eventually they could create 4 separate apps: Music, TV, podcasts and a dedicated app dedicated to syncing your iPhone
imgladiliveineurope How likely is that??? Probably a 1 in 20 chance since Apple has pretty much abandoned Apple Applications on Non-Apple Platforms, only exception is “Move to iOS” (it’s for Android) because Apple wants more iOS Users.
Rhone Archer they haven't abandoned anything imo. They've just launched an Apple TV app on Samsung tvs. It even has airplay 2. They also offer Apple Music on android. Apple is starting to expand their media services and they know they need to offer it on other platforms if they want to have more customers.
Thank you for your explanation. But the one question which remains to be asked is whether I will still be able to listen to my music through Apple TV and to access my movie and TV collection through Apple TV? If Apple TV will only allow me to gain access to music and video that I have purchased from Apple, i.e. streaming, then this could really be a disaster for those of us using the entire apple ecosystem. I have music in my iTunes library which I have digitized from vinyl going back to 1958. Up until now I’ve been able to enjoy those recordings on the Apple TV. Of course I could do that through PLEX, but I do not find PLEX as complete as iTunes has been.
I don’t like the Apple Music; I enjoy purchasing my music. So with this change, you stated they won’t focus on purchasing songs but streaming. So will the purchase option still be there?
The Catalina update apparently doesn't work so well with my Classic iPod (2007). That device still works great and I like putting purchased music on it, but now new purchases aren't loading to it. You can imagine my annoyance.

Smart move by Apple. The world of music has moved on as has tv and the popularity of podcasts and audiobooks. They are just keeping things relevant for now.
I’ve been using Apple products for about 30 years. What I can say from experience is that for most of that time they progressively improved the features and UI of their software. But over the last several years, their apps have gotten progressively worse with every “upgrade” while the hardware becomes less reliable. I recently switched back to Android. And I have no reason to stick with Mac over a good PC anymore either. And up until now Macs have been the only computers I would buy. It’s been downhill since Jobs died.
What will happen to existing purchased content: music, movies, App Store, podcast, etc? And how will we purchase new content? I have a wish list of movies I want to buy in the future.
Then why did all my playlists get completely screwed up and deleted once I synced my phone after upgrading to Catalina? And how do you fix that? Many people seem to be having that problem and no one has addressed this yet.
Also last year, Apps could not be synced or managed from iTunes. You can no longer download your Apps and then open up the package to see the resources (images, sound, etc) from a iOS app.
I redownloaded Itunes just now and have a bunch of songs from 2008 period I bought. How do I keep them if Itunes is going away? Don't have a Mac computer
The problem with all these contemporary musical apps is that they assume 99% of music is Pop Tunes... while 99% of Music is NOT pop but “old” and no longer salable in a high $$$ Market.

@@Thewaterspirit57 That aged poorly. They're doing the same thing on Windows they did with Mac. You can still get the old iTunes, or you can get Music, TV, and Devices from the Microsoft store (they are still in beta though). They are way better than iTunes, with an interface that matches with the Windows 11 design language.
@@MicahIsBatman2 Yet that also means there is no local device backup for any IOS device for windows, just their crappy individual apps that don’t work as well as they do on Mac. They want you to buy a Mac device, so they’re gimping windows apps. You can try to use iTunes, but the thing only ever gets updated to recognize new iPhones/iPads/apple stuff.
This comment aged well, because it’s still all true idiot.
I have never and don't intend to pay for a subscription to Apple Music. I'll just continue using iTunes 11. It's ridiculous that Apple is getting rid of iTunes and forcing consumers to pay a subscription fee for music. This is why Apple continues to lose revenue. I hope they go out of business.
i say that what they did with itunes is just lazy as hell they could improve the code and also make it easier to use and bring back the classic menu from years ago also alot of people dont like this type of transition and i dont like steaming music from the internet i prefer owning music where as owning videogames these days is more like renting the game because i can lose access to that game i bought full price for if the server shuts down or if my account gets banned for no reason
billyhatcher643 agree with you. I prefer buy it rather streaming it because when the subscriptions is over, we can’t access the music. And also, we don’t have to worry about going offline if we want to listen music.
Sorry if my english so bad.
i dont mind u did really well @putu hanaggara but yea this is why i cant stand streaming services because if the free tiral is gone ur done and u cant stream the content anymore and the fact that google stadia will kill ur data cap really fast where as downloading games will not kill the data cap and also if there are alot of people online thatll make everything worse so google stadia isnt ready for this type of service yet
@@billyhatcher643 Interesting how the non-English poster's written English is better than the native English poster.....
The new Music app is good but it got rid of half of my music library’s artwork. Also it you have to manually put the artwork in when you put music on it not from the iTunes Store.
Probably just a bug since this is the first beta.
Does it still allow you to rip compact discs thats not a rhetorical question i still actually do that
I think so but I only have a MacBook Pro so I have no cd drive to test it out.
@@peyman9ch Ah! well thannks for replying anyway you see i've heard from many sources that your ripped music will still exist in the new app but there was no clarification if you could still rip going forwards
Should’ve thought about the beta bugs if you have a torrented library
Then where can I find my iTunes backups?

So, I can still buy music if I want to? Cause I still prefer to buy music rather than streaming it. At least for now.
Why do you prefer to buy music? Like honestly there is tidal and apple music now. tidal makes you able to stream full master 24-bit audio so there is no real loss there. Like I am just genuinely curious why you want to buy music instead of streaming it.
XXXTENTACLES I just haven’t adjusted to it yet. And I don’t have reliable income yet. Once that settles in then maybe I’ll get Apple Music. I’m just not ready for it yet.
Brainpop 14 ---- Yes, you can still buy music.
Common sense seems to have leave the Apple building
Thank god for this. I was actually confused what iTunes is for when I wanted to buy songs. I didn’t know if I should buy from iTunes or the Music app because I remember reading somewhere that iTunes is now a music streaming app which got me even more confused if they still sell songs or not.
What about the Macs that cannot update past High Sierra!!! I have a late 2011 Mac 💻 pro!!! Will the iTunes still exist??????
Correct
Yes no change
I’ve been using Spotify for two years now. And apparently a lot of other people have been too so I’m not really surprised by this.
Ugh I hate Spotify. It doesn't need to exist. UA-cam and iTunes/Apple been have been around way longer, why use something newer?
Spotify STEALS their product..... NO ROYALTIES TO THE ARTIST!!
FUCK SPOTIFY!!!!!
Melanie Jonas Spotify is just cleaner and can be used by more devices and programs like game consoles and DJ applications.
RealityHurts923 Pandora, iHeartRadio, UA-cam can’t be?
Melanie Jonas No itunes is not available on all devices like Spotify.
Why Apple is getting rid of iTunes:
*So people don't downgrade Their old iPhones and sell for a lot of Money on eBay*
Never thought of that but okay
I did that but kept it. It's a 4s and iPad 2 on iOS 6 as it's the only one Apple has allowed to downgrade to that iOS. I wish it was iPhone 4 on iOS 5 tho
@@pyeltd.5457 Right
Pye Ltd. i have an iPhone 4 on ios 4
Why? I have an iPhone X that is kept current, and the battery life is awesome.
Finally, i've been sick with itunes being littered with junk. I just want it to do what it was originally was built for.
XXX So have I. Google Play store has Apple Music, but I'm done with it..
Hi I am Jacobbmw from malaysia just want to ask you that will i still ever use itunes in my window microsoft 8?
As far as I can tell, Apple developers constantly change things, that do not need to be changed, in order to justify their salaries.
That's what pisses me off the most on any app. They keep changing shit just for the sake of changing it, not to make it better, just different.
Some soundtracks will have one or two tracks that are not easy listening, when you take that track out, suddenly the soundtrack is perfect.)
3_ When I shuffle iTunes/iPod Classic had a very good algorithm that it used to shuffle music, but best part was the reassurance that when I shuffled, the ENTIRE playlist would get shuffled.
AlienatedIllusions just downgrade to 11 and never update to 12 or Music app.
Pye Ltd
I just tried that. I deleted iTunes and installed version 11. MacOS says that it cannot be used with my current os.
I have decided to switch my entire library to the PC side. I forgot I could do that.
Second and 5th like okay this is finally done and you can use Apple music In windows full speed
Are we still able to update the software (for our iPhone or iPad) with a Mac, when there's no iTunes?
The only thing I use iTunes for is to manage things on my iPhone and iPad. 🤷🏼♀️
Apple has lost the Plot. The reason I moved from PC to Mac in 2005 was the ease of use of Apple. Today Apple is becoming overly complicated and very difficult to use. I miss the days when Apple was intuitive. I pray that the developers of Apple are listening to their customers.
So is iTunes “Music”? Since i NEVER use it..
I use a much better Music app than Spotify or Music..
Thanks for the Vid. From your screen shot I can see local backups. Only questions is where or If can still upload custom ring tones?
I think it’s so funny that apparently iTunes was so cluttered & unintuitive but growing up w/ it, I always thought it had been so perfect
How do we backup our data now? other than the iCloud
How do you back up from any pc computer since iTunes will be gone?
I agree iTunes should have been split up. But they did it the WRONG WAY. I would have loved it to be broken into two apps. One for my purchased media (music, TV, books, etc) and one for subscription services (Apple Music and Apple TV+).
I have no plan on *subscribing* to anything for my music, and now this new Music app will just be a greater ploy for Apple to shove Apple Music down my throat when I just want to continue ripping my CD's buying a few popular songs on the store each year, and syncing them to my iOS device.
You can still do that on the new Music App.
Very well explained. Thank you.

What would happen if iTunes on windows dies
captain punch NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
As he said, iTunes will still be in use on Windows. But eventually they could create 4 separate apps: Music, TV, podcasts and a dedicated app dedicated to syncing your iPhone
imgladiliveineurope
How likely is that??? Probably a 1 in 20 chance since Apple has pretty much abandoned Apple Applications on Non-Apple Platforms, only exception is “Move to iOS” (it’s for Android) because Apple wants more iOS Users.
Rhone Archer they haven't abandoned anything imo. They've just launched an Apple TV app on Samsung tvs. It even has airplay 2. They also offer Apple Music on android.
Apple is starting to expand their media services and they know they need to offer it on other platforms if they want to have more customers.
Watch for any windows updates that have to do with iTunes, also don’t update iTunes!
OKKKK I'm not losing my music, thank you for this informational video
The Catalina update apparently doesn't work so well with my Classic iPod (2007). That device still works great and I like putting purchased music on it, but now new purchases aren't loading to it. You can imagine my annoyance.
Apple has done a bad thing for this reason how do you put videos and podcasts in music on your iPod?
What about the iPod models that don't run iOS? Will those be managed in Finder as well?
Wait so instead 3 in 1, they made 1 in 3??? What?
hello I have a question is known the ipad replaces it is the new computer said but what happens if I only have an ipad and it enters recovery mode how do I get it out of there without having a computer ???
ok I hope you can answer me thanks good channel good videos
Smart move by Apple. The world of music has moved on as has tv and the popularity of podcasts and audiobooks.
They are just keeping things relevant for now.
So where do I do my backups cuz I don’t use iCloud? I always used iTunes to do a backup and also load my own music on my iPhone
I have a wish list of movies I want to buy in the future.
and Apple Music subscriptions which I do have.
i remember windows media player...

The problem with all these contemporary musical apps is that they assume 99% of music is Pop Tunes... while 99% of Music is NOT pop but “old” and no longer salable in a high $$$ Market.
