    Hi
I thought for sure you were going to do the Mutamin Slingshot. Its done by going to Mutamins garden where you befriend a ghoul named Korax then have him beat the crap out of a mage named Mutamin and his basalisk pets.
    In case you don't know how it works;
    - You can start as any class. Mage is best for it.
    - Kick everyone but gorions ward from the party.
    - You need protection from petrification.
    - Mage strat; start with protection from petrification. You can also pick it up easily at high hedge if you don't want to pick it as a starting spell. Anyone who can cast scrolls, like bards or sorcerers can go this route too. You should have at least two casts of it for safety, but one can be enough if you are quick.
    - Everyone else strat; You need a scroll of protection from petrification that anyone can use. They have a green icon, whereas the mage scroll ones have a blue icon. The easiest place to get one is from a vendor at the nashkel carnival. They are pretty expensive for a level one character which is the challenge of a mutamin slingshot for a non mage. On the plus side they last longer than the mage spell so you don't need to worry about a time limit.
    - Go to Mutamins Garden. Its east of the Beregost temple.
    - Find Korax, he is on the western side of the map about dead center (really close to the point you spawn at on the mutamins garden map assuming you walked from Beregost Temple). Talk to Korax and ask him not to eat you and tell him you want to be his friend. He agrees! Now you have a pet ghoul. Sweet!
    - Buff yourself with protection from petrification and take Korax with you for basalisk hunting. There are 8 lesser basalisks and 2 greater basalisks in total around the map. They are all roughly in the center foresty area with all the humanoid statues and in the center deserty area. Korax is immune to petrfication because he is undead and when he hits hits hold attacks on them they drop quick. The basalisk bites can still kill him so its best to support him from range with a bow, sling or throwing daggers to drop them quicker. Don't put yourself in danger of being basalisk dinner. If you want to tank a few hits gain a few levels first, they roll in fast if you are solo.
    - Watch out for mutamin. When you see him sick Korax on him asap. It turns out ghoul hold procs through mirror image so he will drop easy if you get lucky. But, his spells can cause everything to go south for you very quickly by killing Korax, killing you, or fearing you into other nearby monsters.
    - When mutamin and all the basalisks are dead you need to either put korax out of his undead misery, or send him off to a corner of the map where he wont bother you because there is a time limit for him to turn on you and attack. Resting will trigger the time limit, and it can expire mid basalisk hunt if you go really slow.
    - Its 25k+ exp all said and done.
    - If you did it solo all characters you recruit will come in at higher level, except imoen because she automatically joins you at the start, and characters who have joined you and then been kicked retain the exp value they had when kicked.

No. Wait until later in the game and buy up every stone to flesh scroll from every priest in the game. THEN go to the garden. Use nymph cloak or algernon's cloak to charm a greater basalisk (kill mutamin and his lesser basis with a protected party but SPARE one charmed greater basi). Cast protection from petrification from a green scroll (it lasts 6 hours whereas the mage spell only lasts 1 hour) on your greater basi. Go hunting for other basis with an invis'd party member and your new greater basi friend. Petrify every basi around. Find the newly stoned 2nd greater basi. From Invisibility, start going through your stone to flesh scrolls on him. Keep your basi at max site range with ai turned on. The enemy basi will come out of petrify and start attacking your friendly basi, your friendly basi will return fire. Your friendly basi is immune to these attacks for 6 hours, the enemy basi isn't and will get petrified in a hit or two. The moment he is petrified, use another stone to flesh scroll on him and continue the fight. Every time the enemy greater basi is petrified, you get 7000xp. You'll probably have around 130 stone to flesh scrolls to use like this...which means in total you'll get 900k xp or so for this method. Once your down to a handful of scrolls, kill both basis with mirrored eye potions. This can also be done with the two basis in the candlekeep catacombs.
      Enjoy!

An easier way for non mages to do this is to just recruit Xzar and Montaron, buy a Protection from Petrification scroll at High Hedge south of where you start with Imoen, then have Xzar cast the spell on your MC and kick everyone else out of the party. Granted this means Xzar and Montaron won't be levelled up but I never use them anyway.

I usually do Melicamp as the very first thing, since it is just a single wolf and a skeleton, both easy fights as long as you have Imoen in tow to put arrows in them, then kick her out and take that 2k XP for myself, usually getting a level or two (if thief).
Bassilius is a joke if you keep smacking him with Imoen's Wand of Magic Missiles. For the option that kills all the skeletons, its 3, 1, 1 or 2.

In game settings you can change option to get always max hp pre level. If you buy sth stackable like potion just click 2 times and you can choose how many u need. When are you going to dualclass to mage?

Never ever pay gold for throwing daggers. You'll obtain them by the bushel in High Hedge from the skeletons that respawn infinitely.

I might be stating the obvious and maybe you were avoiding a bug I might not know about or something. But you can just buy multiple potions at once by double clicking the potion and select the amount you want to buy, rather than doing it 1 at a time.

It is 1,3,1,1, in the comment section to kill zombies and skeletons without fighting for this quest.

Hmm Never was much of a fan of the Ankheg Hunt for EXP. I am more of a Sirine guy. They give 2k Exp instead of nearly 1k, But they are also far more Dangerous to Hunt.

I'm new to BG amd found the named Sirine below Candlekeep on the world map by complete accident and quite literally shit bricks when she asked for a kiss. Reloaded a save and just shot arrows and MM until she died and boom 5k XP.
