I’m from Baltimore, but I’ve never seen anyone put old bay on chicken AFTER It’s cooked. You season fried chicken before you fry it. I’ve never seen it put on pizza. Old Bay is life and I have both Tony’s and Old Bay in my cabinet.
Old bay is definitely creole, and food on the French Quarter always tastes like it. Tony’s is used every where more south of Nola which is Cajun where I’m from. Old bay I definitely say it’s for grilled seafoods, and definitely pasta. I like it on occasion, but Tony’s is an everyday thing. You can describe creole food by old bay, and Cajun food by Tony’s!
These are totally different. Tony’s is used on most things in South Louisiana. Zatarain’s “Crawfish Boil” is used for boilining seafood. As a South Louisiana native, I had never heard of Old Bay until I was 27 and went to Maryland on vacation for crabs. That being said, both are awesome, but for different purposes.
gingasnapz Tony’s is a classic Cajun spice from South Louisiana that’s used on everything. Old Bay was invented up north around Maryland. I first had it there on steamed crabs. Old Bay was then bought by McCormick and it spread everywhere. Old Bay just tastes like seafood. Both are awesome.
@@gingasnapz the problem with old bay and not being from maryland is that old bay complements marylands blue crabs perfectly if you want to taste what it was made for you need maryland blues which you cant get outside of the mid atlantic but we use it on everything
@@SDEexorect old bay compliments blue crab yes but it also compliments shrimp, crawfish, most seafood. I prefer the cajun on chicken, although i do like old bay wings and fries. IMO old bay is superior for any seafood boil.
Old Bay has a strong Celery Salt taste. I think it's great on Poultry and Seafood. Tony's is a better seasoning for starchy foods like rice, potatoes or in snacks.
Old Bay is the bomb. But Tony's is good too. The problem with this video is that the two seasonings are not the same. Old Bay is a seafood seasoning. Tony's is a Creole seasoning.
See, we thought the same thing, but apparently they are both used as toppings on a lot of similar things.... And we wanted an excuse to eat a bunch of different food lol

Neither Tony's or Old Bay tastes good in a boil, my opinion. Best to use Louisiana brand,Zatarain's or Swamp Dust to name a few.

Two COMPLETELY different seasonings for different things. I keep both on hand all the time, but I've never considered using them interchangeably. It's like ketchup and mayo - each has its uses. Old Bay is great on fish, shrimp, crawfish, crab, some salads and slaws. It's fine on chicken, but not salty fried chicken. Tony's has much wider uses, IF you like a salty, spicy, up-front seasonings. I use it on burgers, pork chops/roast, venison, chicken, and fish. Also lightly on cooked veggies like green beans, black-eye peas, greens. It's also good on eggs. I would never think of putting Old Bay on things like peas and eggs. Just completely different applications.
I tried it on popcorn and it didn't really work for me, it was okay but not great, on the other hand Utz crab chips are fantastic but that is Chesapeake Bay seasoning, very similar but just a touch milder.
old bay..make a good boil out of thattt. Love the reminder of seaweed and Barnacles with it Lol. I think it needs a little more Lemon tho and or rub like that etc.
