- In this video I will be making a beat on the new 16" Macbook Pro while comparing it to my 2017 13" Macbook Pro. I will try to push it to the limit by running over 30 Omnisphere tracks and several other plug-ins simultaneously!

1. Should’ve got more storage
2. The fan gets WAY too loud (but it never overheats or crashes so that’s good)
3. Still going hard 🙏🏾
How much storage would you suggest? I’m about to get this laptop

I know it doesn't overheat but does it get very hot over the Touch Bar and keys when the computer is under a high workload?

You did the right thing. You don't spec it for today, you spec it for tomorrow. In 2013 I bought a MBP with i7, 16GB and 512GB SSD. Typing on it now. Hasn't missed a beat. Multiple instances of Serum playing away happily.
I work on macbook pro mid 2012, i7 2.9 GHz 16 ram and still work pretty good
I made the mistake of getting the 8mb Ram, but got the 512 hd, if I’d got the 16mb , I’d have less glitching 😭 but the M1,2,3 etc are superb.

Thank you, very few music producer have made videos on the new 16" and how it is working with it. I currently have the 2018 15" (base model) and as soon as it gets warm it thermal throttles and cuts the speed in half. Which drives me nuts. so I'm trying to sell it to buy the new 16" in hope that they fixed the cooling.

This is exactly the video I needed to see. I ordered the 64GB MBP 16 and thought that maybe it was overkill, but I like future proofing and seeing you use 30+ instances of Omnisphere gives me assurance that it’s capable of some serious power. Great video, congrats on the purchase!
ever get close to 64 gigs of ram usage in DAW? someone told me youre probably gonna max out cpu before u get near that much RAM use in the DAW and I think that may be true. Im also considering btw 32 and 64 but my 16 g RAM i7 does overload the cpu before going using all the RAM. So I wonder if the 64 gigs is even necessary/usable in a DAW.
btw any issues connecting usb 2.0 devices? im on the verge of getting the laptop however I have multiple midi controllers that have usb 2.0 connections and read the T2 chip on the new MacBooks can cause issues with devices that use USB 2.0 unless you buy an expensive adapter

@@reecemccauley834 people have stated once using adapters the fans go crazy, alot of adapters crap out and arent officially made from apple. certain devices work better with direct connections.
@@heythere6983 The best thing about having that many gigs of ram is that it will allow him to record and still create at the same time!
The big issue with mac is their thermal padding on the inside!
We had ours replaced and basically its a new mac!
The thermal padding burns out so fast it makes you think you need a new laptop/computer
We have an older model and only 16 gigs of ram and for some reason it was running like crap due to high kernal and cpu overload!
It got to a point we couldn't record screen or even play a 8 track beat! lol
We was like wtf we spend like $4k on this laptop! lol
So we had it get service and to find out the thermal padding was gone and burnt!
This was causing the cpu overload big time!
So we had it service and also replaced the fans and bammm the mac is running like it was brand new again!
No need to upgrade just service your mac ! Its like changing your breaks on a car or getting an oil change !
I would say that the RAM here isn't that important. Omnisphere instances rely on CPU power not the RAM. The RAM is mostly for working with libraries like exhale, as he stated it would've taken him much more time loading it before, that's because of the speed that the library is loading in the RAM. Plus, more RAM means you can work with more libraries because it can load more of them. Cheers, hope it will clarify this to you

Just found your channel. I have been debating the upcoming iPad Pro or a MBP 16 for my next purchase. I am planning on getting into video/music production as a hobby. I fly drones and want to make some music to go over the videos. This just convinced me I need to either just get the MBP 16 or get both. This laptop is a beast.

Thanks for this video .. wanted to know how many vsts the new macbook pro can handle ...I hate having to commit to a part or sound and bounce the track to stop the computer from choking till every part of the arrangement is in . Sometimes, you just want to change the tempo or pitch the entire track up or down and having it all on midi makes it easier. I'm thinking of a 32 GB ram ...I produce on cubase 9.5 and use abelton only to trigger in a live setting on stage . Should I go for 64 gb ram instead ? I don't work on video at all ..just audio ...will it be an overkill ? I've read somewhere that no audio software utilizes more than 16 gb ram . Is that true ?
Hi @L.Dre I have noticed that your cpu percentage is around 60 ... there is headroom in your cpu.. U heard the crackling sound because of the lower buffer size it couldn't process.. do increase your buffer size so that u can add more vsts

I've noticed that my CPU has been working harder lately but I thought that was because I had a bunch of things running at once and not because of a CPU miner I may have downloaded. I checked my antivirus software and don't have any malware or anything though.

I just updated to live 10 and my old mbp 2014 model can’t handle it at all. Looking at upgrading to the base model 16”. I don’t really use any outside plugins or effects, so I should be set with that, yes?
