Sometimes I feel like hair dressers themselves don’t understand what the term “silk” means in a press. Silk moves fluidly, flawlessly, seamlessly. The hair is stiff, overly saturated and you can even see the flat iron lines when she goes half way up the hair shaft near the end. Heat was way to high for this hair type. That level of heat and that amount of product is for much tighter/kinkier.
Yes this is so right! For a silk press you should really only use one product, the heat protectant of your choice and that’s it. Too many products weigh the hair down and make it stiff.
@@LexiimaWriter i don’t need to see it on type for , you are the one that would love to so , get to recording and be kind enough to share like This woman.

I wonder if people realize not everyone likes their hair the exact same way. I prefer the "weighed down" look. I get tired of having perfect hair then opening the door to the salon and my hair is blown everywhere. Or walking out into the humidity and the puffy challenging my gangsta.
Exactly. As someone with extremely thick and dense hair, when I do a silk press I want it as flat as possible. The people in the comments are honestly just hating.
@@cfoster6804 I agree with you. I went from having a relaxer to being a straight natural. My stylist used Moroccan Oil products on my 3b 3c hair and although my hair looks silky it is not weighed down and with the Moroccan Oil products as soon as a light breeze blows then my hair blows in the breeze and it looks crazy. I want products to weigh my hair down so I am going to try this routine using the same Chi products.
I like the silk before pressing, then adding the finishing spray after I’m done pressing. Adding too many products beforehand makes my hair too oily and flaky the next day.
I love weighed down hair because it stays straighter longer! But this model's hair looks sticky. Her hair looked clumped together with no movement. The hair was already straight from the blow dryer, but then you used a 415 degree flat iron to burn it straight. No wonder her hair is heat damaged!
Lovely power point presentation with educational notes 📝. The speaker as well has a good strong & clear voice. Awesome job & sending blessings from Texas🌸💕.
The point of a silk press is for it to be silky and have movement, shine and flexibility. This is stiff, you can see the line of the straightener and it doesn’t look natural. I used the silk by Chi and never understood why my hair looked so weighed down and sticky and that’s exactly why. The products are way too heavy. Even if you use a drop your hair still is heavy and if you put it in a ponytail and remove the holder, it’ll stay that way until you wash your hair. I use a new product now and it looks like I was born with straight hair, it’s bouncy, flexible and shiny, plus there’s no residue left on my hands. To save money, if you enjoy your hair looking like this, buy a bottle of $3 blue magic from Walmart and it’ll do exactly the same.
Thank you so much for this video. I tried this for my daughters homecoming and it turned out pretty good. Some of the products I was unable to get, but I got the next best thing. I tried this technique and it turn out nice. Once, I actually have the right products & tools, I know it will be even better. Thank you
Girl I think it’s her hair hair but it’s just heat damage. You saw when she straightened that one piece hair and literally that flat iron fried her hair.
@@Tiff3nym Always some Type4 hair girl in comments hating . Her hair isnt damaged If you want to see that type of hair done go find people on you tube with type 4 hair . Her hair
What were you thinking her hair doesn’t even require all of the products that were used ? And spraying each peace of hair like that before passing the flat iron through was literally insane 😂
Can I use it on damp hair and letting it air dry?? Or should I wait for my hair to dry, then apply before straightening? Do I need a heat protector spray too while using this?
My theory is: I think the producer or owner asked the stylist to use each product on the hair again at then end to get more shots (because why else would she continue to layer product on like that?) Causing this silk press to take longer and the model was tired af, that smile says it all. She was OVER IT! And she knew her hair was fried at this point. The stylist and model seemed irritated and uncomfortable in the last bit. I’m in shock that she layered so much product on over and over for a silk press.
Great results! Letting the hair cool is key. I also like to use the Chi Keratin silk infusion products (shampoo, conditioner, leave in) along with the Chi iron guard heat protectant
Great information and thanks for the demo. I feel she had way too much product in her hair. That would have been better on someone with really thick hair. I do appreciate seeing how all the products work.
Chi products are one of the best that doesn't weight the hair down. Compared to others that I have tried. I do agree I think its to much product lol I just use the silk-out one and the red chi spray for silking out that's it.
Will i get the same result using just the silk infusion product ?? I didnt purchase all the other products. I made a note to purchase those other products next time alng with the silk infusion Thanks again
Yes. We have these: chi.com/chi-products/chi-haircare/set-style-finish/chi-finishing-pomade/ and chi.com/chi-products/chi-man/chi-man-palm-of-your-hand-pomade/
It really doesn’t look bad or super greasy. Idk what the comments are talking about. But what I will say is the texture of the hair matters. If this was a 4c head, this would surely be much stiffer from all of that extra product
Her hair looked bouncy before the 2nd spray, the heat was too high and her hair looked straight already. The amount of high heat on each section of already straight hair made me nervous
Its pretty either way but i think i liked it better before u pressed it out it look thinner after the pressed out but before it looked thicker and i like the thicker look
😩😩😩😩 dime size on the whole section? I use dime on each of my parts cause when I did it like the stylist. My hair poofed back up in ten minutes smh.. so when I do it my way it last for 25 minutes lol.. I need a blow dryer I think.
Did a terrible job displaying Chi Products.. great line but this stylist know NOTHING about a silk press.. clarifying shampoo, conditioner, light heat protector, and serum is all you need.. not two different holding sprays not extra serum not even sheen spray because it’s too oily the hair should be naturally shiny and moveable.. less is more with a silk press and heating that holding spray onto the hair was an absolute NEGATIVE!!
Today 8-20-23, the first time seeing this video, and I must say I would have been impressed had you chosen 4 B or C natural hair. You probably could have achieved the saud result in her hair using using a iron comb, and why is the client standing?
Why would the hair need to be “married” mid shaft? You literally created a dent in the hair. And then it seemed like there was even more product build up. At the end the hair like just looked tired and really flat.
People you don't know I always had in between long curly hair but I wish I knew how to do this my hair goes on a damp wet banana curl looking like a cinnamon bun now my hair line is loosing hair
Good Lord, I am good without my hair strands being married if that means unnecessary passes with the flat iron. If you keep putting all that heat in her hair, her hair is going to be divorced from her head!
No ma’am it’s a no for me. Multiple passes while pulling the flat iron downwards along with too much hair spray is a recipe for heat damage which is what she already appears to have. She put on her best fake smile.
