Rödmulle is Swedish (IKEA is a Swedish company, and a lot of their product have Swedish names), not Finnish or Norwegian. And it's the name of a fish, Red Mullet (Mullus barbatus). Röd = Red, Mulle = Mallet
Tell that to Google. 🤷♂️

Thanks, I was yelling at me screen and it didn't change the video.
You're likely right since I can't do any better myself. But, I still want to point out never have I ever said "Ge mig den där mullen, jag behöver banka lite lätt på denna!" xD
@@Sodorii Well, as a Norwegian I should be careful making bold statements on the Swedish language, as most of my knowledge of it comes from watching Pippi and Emil in my childhood... hehe...
I was slightly disappointed that you didn't turn that orange into a "Death Star", but you made it up with the donut ring.
That was exactly what I thought!
Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is not. I’ve resisted growing up for nearly 60 years.
Dicking around is critical for mental well-being.
Edit: I met Boomer at a 10-year BSG reunion after-party. She wasn’t very nice. Six is very nice, Starbuck is funny, and Baltar is a very cool dude.
That is legit my mom's favorite quote. At 65 she dressed as a little girl for Halloween, she did not need to purchase anything including the stuffed animal she was clutching.
Making the "One Donut" should definitely be a short! Thats beautiful!😂
"Putting the King back in Dicking Around!" Claaaaaassssic.
The swearing in this episode is very satisfying this morning.
The further I get into this video, the more I'm wondering if you're okay, man. I hope you have some to give you a hug and a listening ear.
Chuck up with something like a plastic or wooden cylinder, and engrave it like a rubber roller stamp. Similar to those rounded stamps that do wood grain, but make it do repeating patterns as you roll ink onto something. Roll some india ink onto a wooden plank or paper. Could be cool for repeating patterns on longer board.
The Guy Fieri plant pot was off the hook.
I thought the second plant pot had a Sideshow Bob vibe to it
homer simpson voice: *my precious*
Looks like that thing was carried around by Frodonut
Those India pale ales are getting ridiculously strong 91%!
That spectacles logo would look super groovy on a TUMBLER.
No tumblers!
I don't have the rotary attachment, so I played around with engraving names on hexagon pencils. Worked pretty well and the teacher I made them for loved them.
In the military, we called it OFO status. Out F#@&ing Off. And when our mission was complete, and it was time to play, we played as hard as we worked. We worked very hard, too.
What''s in the box? What's in the box!!!
Yay for Real Genius! "I was hot, and I was hungry"
It's a moral imperative.
@@WesleyTreat Combine a rocks glass and the line from Real Genius. "I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?""
Maybe someone has said this earlier:
1) IKEA is a Swedish company and their product names are in Swedish, not Finnish.
2) Rödmulle is a fish, Red Striped Mullet in English
3) Dinera means Dine.
That “Okay Boomer” design would be so cool on a tee shirt.
I hope Laura Kampf sees your laser tape cutting.
So refreshing to hear the joy of creating instead of the workplace drive to product at cost. I work for a commertial product company with a research dept that is struggeling to find the resource to do research rather than product focused projects. They pour graduates into roles hoping for creative inginuity but then sink them in product focus goals. Nice laser work, theres so many maker projects where it takes years of experience of different areas that the early 20yr havent had time to experience. it doesn't mean we cant match their enthusiasm.
I’ve heard a few folks say that the “Flow State” in making is something like where your ability to create while almost on autopilot intersects with the necessity to learn and grow your processes. Creating for the sake of creating and fun is SO necessary to evolve as a creative person!
Also, CLEARLY ye now have a personal need for a Wallet “That Says ‘Blind A M F’ On It”, and situations in which ye need to ask for it. 😆
Wet a paper towel and lay it over the mug and glass instead of paint. The laser will vaporize the wet paper but it will keep the mug and glaze MUCH cooler while lasing. The texture should come out way better and not have any odd colors.
I love dicking around in my shop... it always starts under the pretense that I'm going to 'tidy up', but quickly ends up with experiments with bits of wood/metal and power-tool usage 😂
Right? Cleaning and neatening are, for me at least, a surefire way to end up dicking around.
YES, this what happens to me also I love it
Around the office, we call it "Dawtl"-ing, for "Dicking Around With The Laser" :)
Anytime you learn something new the time was not wasted. Watching this I learned that the IKEA travel tumbler might be useful in my shop for the same reason as you did. So a good morning of effing around i’ld say.
never stop having fun!
The "Ring" was hilarious! 😅
That donut is a real Wesley treat.
OMG. One donut to rule them all! That killed me. 😂😂
Thank you for reminding me to dick around in my shop.
I now use the shop for my business, so whenever I’m in there, I feel like I should be working on any myriad of business things I need to get done. Instead I get completely frozen and don’t get ANYTHING done. Today was one of those days, so you caught me watching UA-cam instead, so your video was kismet!
Thanks, Nerd!
New video? What a treat!
You could use the in situ tape mask idea while etching the glass, then use a dishwasher safe enamel paint to end up with a more uniform colour for your markings. You bake enamel paints in the oven to fully cure, so to avoid cracking the glass, you might also have to be careful not to heat or cool it too quickly.
1000% feel this. More and more I'm finding making stuff with no plan or goal to be really important
BAMF…. Classic X-Men sound effect when Kurt teleports!
For the ink on aluminum, try scrubbing the anodizing off with sopa, water, and #0000 steel wool before you spray it.
That probably would've been my next attempt, but they also make a spray specifically for aluminum now.
The socket engraving is genius. I too suffer as a BAMF.
for the beer glass you could make a similar mask as the paint mask on the IPA container and gently sandblast in the markings
Wesley, I think you need to engrave your glasses with your logo. On the temples, and directly in the center of the bridge of the nose. This would be the epitome of nerd glasses!
I think you just completed the UA-cam search library with "Can I laser a donut?"
One donut to rule them all!
One ring to bring them all...
Really getting Red Green Show Vibes (Canadian comedy show) from this video. I feel like this is what would have happened if he also had access to a laser.
17:54 😂 I'm glad I'm not the only one who does weird or kinda pointless things only because of a 'I wonder..." And then once attempted, realize while the curiosity was still useful and good, the resulting 'knowledge' is kinda never gonna be used. Lol.
I'm nust gonna start using that line from now on. "Well, I am now in possession of thay knowledge" 😂
Great video. Super ideas. Mahalo for sharing! ❤
"But they were all of them deceived, for in secrecy, under the hot and ready light of Mt Doom he had forged a master ring. Onto this ring he poured all of his cruelty, and a sugary glaze..."
Neat glasses tumbler
One ring to rule them-all, one ring to find them. One ring to bring them-all and in Dunkin' bind them.
Product idea, merch with the glasses and the BAMF acronym. Shirts, hats, socks,........TUMBLERS!
Wesley, you are now why we have disclaimers that apples do not laser off skin to peel! 😂😂😂
15:55 i spat out my drink haha
Exploration is always a good use of time.
When you revealed the donut! 😂😂😂
❤❤❤❤
Best show ever from the Texas Panhandle!
For my acetone and alcohol bottles I use plunger dispensers from Tap Plastics. The work great
Hi nerd!
Wesley, a couple of weeks ago I watched you being interviewed, forget the guys name, and I wanted to let you know that I happen to appreciate hearing your thoughts on stuff, even the reorganizing of the loft. I have a lot of the same thoughts on stuff and it's nice to know that it's not just me. So, glad you got more comfortable in front of the camera (you are braver than I).
Grapefruit Death Star.
The donut is exquisite! Great video
One donut to rule them all.
Oh my, the donut is brilliant!! 😂
I miss being able to, erm, “king” around without having to worry about finding out. I am so over having a million long term projects but keep getting into more 😂
Wesley - this is absolutely delightful! Thanks for showing me some new tricks (paint background color to seal tape edges, for one).
At 18:28 you wince at locating a cut, which reminded me of an acquaintance that collected and bred venomous snakes for zoos. "Here's a new one" he said proudly, waving his hand over the wire mesh top of an aquarium with a Mexican Moccasin snake in it. "He's a little grumpy" - WHAM! as he looked at two lines of venom on his arm. "I hope I don't have any little cuts!"
11:13 Wes, you got some serious (garden) bed head there, bud.
The "What's up, nerds." gave me a good chuckle.
The 🦆 😅 Magnifique!
Кольцо всевластия шикарно. Уэсли топ
You can get plenty of volcanic glass in Glass Butte, Oregon. I think it's a free collecting site.
I thought free play should be a must practice when I'm stuck with projects. And somehow Pinterest said they had no options for free play for adults. 🤔😆. Thanks for the reminder to have unplanned activities that generate creativity. Although I image feeling unsuccessful if my play time lead to a lot of dead ends. Let's keep brainstorming how to make workshop free play fun.
I've got a bag of obsidian from Glass Butte in Oregon, if you want some.
Not sure how you skipped a coconut when you were peeling fruit (is a coconut fruit?)
Opening one could actually benefit from a laser assist.
Technically, it's a "drupe." 🤓
The dark spots in the etched glass are definitely that the glass melted and mixed with the paint/trapped the paint.
20:38 one ring to rule them all
Optimizing your beer intake, eh? I see nothing problematic about this at all!
My very first thought when you pulled out the turning thing for the laser was a maze path for a little puzzle box. My second thought was layout lines for hand carving.
I had actually planned to laser a pattern on some 3" dowel to hand-carve a little tiki statue, but I ran out of time. 👍
14:34 😂 That was awesome! Once I get my laser and rotaty set up and figured out, definitely gonma have to use that on my dad's sockets as he can't ever seem to read it, he is definitely a BAMF lol.
This was awesome! Occasional content like this would be great. But you need to get frustrated more often.....so there's that.
My precious! Did you eat the donut? That’s the real question 😁
Wouldn't "Death Star" oranges make lovely Xmas gifts for nieces/nephews/whatevas?
Try to make a tattoo on pigskin or human-skin alternatives. Y'know, the ones that tattoo artists use to practice.
rödmulle was not a word i recognised even though i am swedish :D .. but it looks like it is the name of a fish .. Mullus surmuletus in latin or "Striped red mullet" in english .... So now we know :) .. also! hells yes to the spirit of this video "pointless play / experimentation" is very important! :D
Google automatically thought it was Finnish. Good to know an actual Swede couldn't translate it, either!
before painting any lasered parts you might want to take time to clean off the burn marks that remain in the kerf, that nasty residue won't let anything stick to it!
ONE DOUGHNUT TO RULE THEM ALL
Slightly easier and more enjoyable to dispose of than traveling to Mt Doom.
I was waiting for lasered hotdogs.
Now in stores, the Apple IRock version 12
Perhaps a wood/aluminum/other cool material sphere becomes a Death Star ornament or desktop decoration.
Made me laugh with the glasses storage, it's not Four Eyes Furniture it's... Six Eyes Fucken About!
Upsetting man babies 😂
I love your videos and I think you're an excellent artist. But I think my fav is you having fun. I had just as much fun as you did, I think. I secretly loved that you cut a piece of tape! So something I would do!
Could you do the tape masking technique on glass and then use a sandblaster?
Possibly. Not sure how blue tape would hold up. Might need another type of mask, but some aren't safe for lasering, because of the fumes.
i often use wikipedia to translate, at least on pc its easy to find thing in f.ex. swedish and then change the language to english
Putting the k back into dicing around
Curious how the rubber seals are holding up in that tumbler against IPA?
IPA is usually polite to rubber seals. Acetone you have to watch.
Turn an orange unto the deathstar
I think I remember a study which said the average time to drink a pint of larger in the UK is 6 minutes. That's actual drinking. Not the talking in between.
"One carb to rule them all."
For a short time, Ben & Jerry's sold a Beer and Donuts ice cream that was actually really good. I may try to recreate it some day . .
Enjoyed the PhotoShop clips and the time that went into them. I think you made them shorter for time but it made me want to figure out isolating backgrounds better. Curious how you did it. Watching tutorials now.
The object selection tool usually does a fair job, but always requires a little cleanup.
You should have made a Death Star orange.
It would have been fun if one of the glasses frames you lasered had tape wrapped around the eye bridge.
Also do you know about Justrite dispensers??? They have the perfect old school look and dispense exactly the right amount
I can see a donut shop putting messages on their products, Marry Me, Happy Anniversary, HMS Titanic, etc.
