290 on a 13, throttle body and 2 oxy sensors. Original engine and turbos. I did replace the garbage stock plugs with e3 plugs. I had misfire issues with brand new plugs. At around 100k from flooring it everywhere, my vehicle would go limp mode flash the check engine light then the light would good off a few minutes laters and drive fine. That might be his problem. Just replace all 6 and see what happens.
332,000 miles on my 2013 SuperCrew XLT 5.0 truck and it still runs like the day I bought it new. Only motor work done is timing cover gasket and water pump. Best vehicle I have ever owned, hands down!
364,000 on my 2011 F150. 5.0. Changed water pump @330,000. Nothing wrong w/ the water pump. replaced brushes in the Alternator because had to replace oil pressure switch because of leak, since I had to remove the Alternator figure I would inspect & change it. The truck still runs great.
What you need to keep the turbos from heat soaking is a bigger intercooler not a bigger radiator. I put in a CVF intercooler in mine and night & day difference in keeping the intake air temps cold and retaining power. You should look into that, it's an easy install and you'll really feel the difference on hot days. When you're doing it, you may want to upgrade your blow-off-valve if you want to hear the blow off sound of your turbos. I have a video of it in my profile if you want to hear what it sounds like.
100% specially the blow off valve. They are not capable of handling the extra boost. No offense, but you complaining about the 3.5 cus you thought everything would just workout with a universal tune. I found out the hard way as well. Limp mode when launch from 0. BOV could not handle it
Last February I got a 2020 lariat 3.5, so far I love it but it’s completely stock because I don’t want to mess up my warranty! I love your truck man, it’s sharp!
A larger “Intercooler” is what you need. Also you can set up a nos intercooler spray that keeps the air super cold for the turbos. Another trick is taking the auto intercooler temp flaps ( for a lack of the technical term) out to where there is always ambient air flowing through.
2018 Coyote with 80k. No issues, easy to work on. V8 sound. Ecoboost performance is amazing when tuned in comparison, but most people can't work on them due to the "plumbing" and complex issues of turbos. N/A is the way to go. Go V8 and get a coyote, you won't regret it! The new 10 speeds shift amazing too.... My lariat is all stock though
Glad your 2018 was good. I had a 2018 5.0 and the transmission had to get rebuilt and the so did the engine at 105K miles. Ended up selling and going back to the 3.5. 120K miles and no issues minus a coolant leak. Every engine has issues just depends on maintenance and honestly roll of the dice
VERY IMPORTANT : When you had the coolant lines replaced on the turbos, did you or the tech replaced the small inline filters, there’s 1 for each turbo and you’ll want to if you value your engine from this point on.
I’m not sure bro am I video that I talked about everything they repaired I show the receipt and I was a long list of things. I can’t recall if that was on there. But see to my point this is just too much to keep up with me lol don’t have to worry about all this on a V-8.
@@TevynSmith Yeah but that’s by design. If you look at car from the early 2000s to about 2007 they’re still running great at 200k+ miles but a car 2 years old nowadays needs a new engine with 40k miles on them. Got a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix with 320k miles and it hasn’t missed a beat. Won’t get those results from new cars unfortunately
I have had 4 3.5’s since their introduction. Trade at 200000 or so. Only problems have been few coil packs. One water pump. But mine are run stock and I don’t go past 4000 on a oil change. I change oil myself and use only Mobil 1. 5.0 are great engines to. I just love the power and how the 3.5 drives. Anything on wheels can have any problem anytime.
My 2015 3.5 Ecoboost has over 130k trouble free miles! Change oil use synthetic and filter every 5 k miles, replace PCV valve Spark plugs and Coolant every 50k miles! Use tier 1 gasoline No catch can , no playing with setup. 3rd generation mechanic and engine builder
Sounds like your coils are going out. I’ve got a 2016 with the 3.5 ecoboost an 155,000 mile on it. Mine started shifting funny an popping when jumping on it to get on the interstate. I looked into it an found out the coils started going bad. I put aftermarket ones in it an they didn’t last long. Put stock coils back in it from ford an it runs like a champ again with no problems
Interesting I swapped my plugs in coils and I had 30 K miles ago. But based on some of the comments a lot of people say the eco-boost are hard on spark plugs so it may be time to change them when I replace the calls idea you stock motor craft.
@@KickinItWithQ I did the msd coils an ngk plugs. I didn’t even get 30k out of them before they started going bad. So I switched back over to the stock coils an plugs from ford an haven’t had anymore problems with it miss firing or burning up plugs anymore. from talking with a buddy that’s a Ford tech guy he even said most the problems they get in from miss firing an bad plugs are because of aftermarket plugs and coils. I asked him about the turbo line leaking an being replaced he said to change the oil around 4 to 5 thousand miles. Even when using full synthetic. Just because of the heat the turbos make It can cause burnt buildup in the turbo line so keeping up with the oil changes is very very important on the ecoboost engine.
Bought my 2016 3.5 at 60k miles. Didn’t have to touch the motor (outside of normal, regular maintenance) until 110k when I replaced the plugs, boots and throttle body. I’m sure more things will come up now that I’m above 100k miles but I honestly can’t complain at all yet. I’m also on a 2.5” level and running 35s
Have you checked the intercooler for condensation. Hot and humid air create Mositure and oil vapor that build In the intercooler. If you don't have a weep hole , you most likely sucking in water and oil vapor into the manifold. You hit the WOT and all of the crap in the intercooler get sent into the intake causing misfire. Change your intercooler with one with a drain or drill a 1/16 hole on the driver side intercooler at the bottom. Not sure if you done that.
No problem dude. That was my issue on a pull. I would get a shutter and loss in power. No codes cause I backed off on the pulls. I drilled that small hole and all sorts of gunk came out. I ran that for a yr. No issues since. Now I'm upgraded to CVF. Way better performance over stock.
Ive been wanting an Ecoboost anything for a long time. And I've been hearing all the issues about them for a long time and now I feel like I'm more prepared for a Ecoboost because I know preventative maintenance is key and some built better aftermarket mods
The biggest issue I've had with mine is the issue he is describing. Its a spark plug issue. When you get one just get spark plugs and have them installed to the specified depth.
Great post Terrance! '14 EcoBoost owner here... I been following Q for a bit, and he certainly has inspired me a bit on my build. Preventative maintenance is the key... also... the parts Ford uses are trash.... I went CVF for my Hot/Cold pipes, intercooler, and catted down pipe... BBK throttlebody and aFe Intake, with MBRP exhaust. Added a tune, and there is not a better rig in my area. LOVE IT! 138+k miles.
@joshz7712 spark plugs aren't a difficult job to do. Gapping them isn't hard either. Also you shouldn't go as long on a set of plugs with eb as on a NA motor. Turbos are hard on plugs. I don't care what the plugs say they are good for. If you've gone 80 or 90k on plugs with these motors you went too long. They might drive just fine under normal conditions but under a load you will start having misfires.
@@nateg08absolutely right. If you buy any engine with Phaser be ready for early oil change intervals. And these engines will last unless you've got a lemon
the issues i have with the 8 is if you mod it to get any HP you have turbo or supercharge it which is big money 10-15k to get another 100 hp out of it where as a eco will cost you about 500 for a tune to get the same HP and torque
Depending on why you take your truck in, most dealers won’t hook up any type of scan tool. We already have enough to do, lol. I’m a Ford tech…I would own a 3.5 eco, but ONLY if I bought it brand new…so many people neglect maintenance with these trucks and that is key to making these last.
I'm so proud of you, and to see how far you have come with this page! I'm really impressed with all your mechanical talk, knowing damn well when you bought the truck you probably didn't even know how to unlock the doors without the owners manual.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’m a grandpa 61, great channel, I got my 2nd tiny lil 2.7 Ecoboost, driven easy I get around 21 around rurral Southern West Virginia and stock it’s got plenty of get up and go for an old man, I drove a 5.0 and it just seemed to scream all the time, the 2.7 rarely climbs above 2500 rpm the way I drive and I like that, pull a 5,000 pound camper 5 or 6 times a year and it does fine.
@@KickinItWithQ from your lips to God’s ears, I see young guys tune them, bigger Turbo’s and end up breaking them, but it’s amazing what they can get out of 154 cubic inches. I had a 72 Mustang 302 that made a whopping 135 horsepower, I thought it was quick back then, it was a horrible car, this tiny 2.7 would eat its lunch not even trying. There was a guy that put a blower on his F150 coyote and had tons of of drivability problems on UA-cam, I’m not sure a 6,000 pound truck should run with a Hellcat and I trust the engineers at Ford a lil more than some tuner with a laptop, he might not be thinking can the components survive this. Sorry to run on, but you have an awesome heart that comes through the channel and I’m sure you’re a Blessing to those who know you,
1. I’ll take the sound of a v8 over the sound of an ecoboost any day. 2. How do you buy a truck without knowing what engine it has? If I’m going to spend that much on a truck the first thing I’m going to do is make sure it’s a v8.
Man, bro when I tell you, I didn’t know anything about trucks. I was such a rookie. I’m the first person in my family to ever even on the truck. I’m even the first person at all my friends they have a truck 😂. I was the test dummy.
@@KickinItWithQ oh ok lol. I’ve been a truck guy for almost 23 years now. I’ve had 2 v6 trucks and 2 v8 trucks. I know a lot of people like the twin turbo ecoboost but for me personally, if I’m going to spend the amount of money they want for these trucks, I’m going to get a v8 or a turbo diesel. Also I like to put an aftermarket muffler on my truck and After having 2 v6 trucks, I know me and I know that I would be disappointed every time I start it and hear a v6 🤣. Hopefully all that makes sense lol.
😂 hey I definitely understand what you’re saying man. And I will say the Ford coyote sounds damn good! Thanks for sharing your insides of feedback man I appreciate
Look back through half ton truck history and lots of engines have issues v-8 or not. About the only one I have never heard a bad thing about is a Cummins, Duramax close second, old 7.2. Almost all had some issues. Not all parts and mechanics are the same. Some awesome, some not. Ecoboost is usually pushing or pulling much less weight so it's not putting the strain on the engine that people think. Towing or big payload yes it might strain it some but the Ecoboost engines were tested pretty intensely before they were put in a full size truck. A Toyota Tacoma weighs about 4000 lbs, an Ecoboost weighs a little more. A v-6 has no problem pushing a Tacoma at about 275 horsepower with zero turbos. So why would a truck that weighs a few hundred pounds more have issues with a better engine (arguably) and 2 turbos as far as engine strain is concerned that is. That's the argument I hear more than anything. That and the turbo maintenance. But if you're gonna buy a diesel, lots of those have turbos as well. I love your truck by the way. And don't get me wrong. Love a V8, I'm a Chevy small block kinda guy myself but both the 2.7 and 3.5 are great engines all things considered. In my opinion obviously
I had that issue with mine and it was condensation in the intercooler. If it’s hot outside the intercooler works too efficiently and produces condensation. The sudden surge of boost pulls the “water” into the engine fouling the spark plugs. I ended up drilling a 3/32 week hole in the bottom of the intercooler and have not had anymore issues in 4 years now.
Big Blue 2013 3.5 with 131k and runs great. Same tune. Bigger and heavier mud tires, bigger intercooler, Dual exhaust, plus K&N cold air intake. I love it.
Dude! This shit happened to me. I did some UA-cam homework and found out it was my spark plugs. I installed the new ford spark plugs and it fixed the problem. It’s $60 fix and you can do it yourself. Hopefully this is what it is but I would check the plugs. Peace man!
Thanks man! I replaced the spark plugs at about 60k miles so they have about 30k on them now. They are gapped to .28 because of the tune.. Think it’s time for new ones?
@@KickinItWithQ I have the same 2015 3.5 l echobeast and it did the same thing on heavy acceleration. Like it was about to die and it ran rough like I was riding braille. Scared the crap out of me. It wouldn’t do it with normal driving though. After I replaced the spark plugs it runs way better. I put the tune back on and it’s a beast again. Just wanted to share with you. I need to start making videos again. Lol
@@KickinItWithQ that’s your issue mine did the same at 90k miles changed spark plugs and the boots and problem fixed , plugs tend to go out around 30k-50k miles on these engines
@@juan_f150 plugs will last much longer on a stock engine, some I’ve seen go over 110,000 mi. All depends if you have a tune and tromp the go pedal hard, those plugs will wear much faster
My 2011 Lariat has 120 K with zero repairs. Have always run premium gas and 3 to 4 K oil changes. About 25 K pulling a duel axle covered trailer. Drives like a dream. I think better than a new Expedition.
Q my man you’re a real one! That’s why I stayed subscribed even after I traded my ecoboost F150! Excited for what the future of the channel looks like it’s gonna be 🔥
GREAT VID! I own an older N/A F150 and I I’ve started a maintenance cycle to keep her running. I’m doing all of the work myself because it’s a simple design. I’m a delivery driver; I drive a class B truck. One day my boss told me to take the company Transit van packing a 3.5 Ecoboost to make a few small deliveries. Man….. I HAD MY FOOT IN THAT VAN ALL DAY. Ecoboost DON’T PLAY….LOL. I am IMPRESSED with the torque, horsepower, and acceleration. You have a REALLY NICE LOOKING TRUCK! Take care!
Alright. Ford Dealer Master Tech of almost three decades here. First things first. We cannot corrupt a download file/tune that is installed on the PCM. If there is a tune on the vehicle we are completely locked out of the PCM. So that in itself is the reason to return it to stock before service, so that we have access if needed. Second thing. You are getting spark plug blow out with the aftermarket tune. The plug gap is too large due to worn plugs. The added boost pressure is overcoming the Spark. Spin a new set of plugs in it and retest. Third up. That’s a 2015 3.5 Ecoboost. Which is first generation. Second generation is 2017+. Phaser failure on 2016 and earlier first generation is much more rare than the second generation. It’s an absolute certainty with second Gen 3.5. They haven’t redesigned the part. So the same shitty phasers just keep getting swapped back in repeatedly. Your particular engine is prone to the coolant lines leaking. The other one absolutely will leak on the driver side. It can be replaced with out turbo removal on the driver side, unlike the passenger side. Also prone to Primary timing chain stretch, especially running a tune. Second generation 3.5 has two primary chains, one per bank, to combat this. Yours is just one really long primary chain. I don’t recommend running the tune all the time if you plan on keeping it. I see lots of them go boom. Usually broken piston skirts. The replacement cost is 12k
From my experience the flashing check engine light is usually a coil... He should scan it to see if it narrows it down to a particular cylinder usually when the plug start to go it doesn't misfire in the same cylinder all the time... I blew one up the Pistons skirts failed just like you said but the tune was too aggressive it was from SSI running over 24 lb of boost.. I've been running an MPT hiboost PRX for almost five years now and this motor has well over two hundred k on it... The boost only spikes at about 18.6 PSI... Can't go back to stock way too slow!!
I recently bought a 2023 F150 XLT FX4 with the 3.5 Ecoboost. I found the 400 Horsepower and 500 Lbs of Torque is more than enough power. I was a little concerned before I lifted it but to be honest it gets up and goes. Being a V8 guy for many years and test driving both, hands down I have to give it to the Ecoboost. If sound is important than hands down the V8 is better but I like my truck as quiet as I can get it. If you get a F250 having that warranty is such a must. I owned a 2006 and a 2017 F250 and on both the Warranty came in handy. Your videos are great. Keep making them.

I have had Expeditions since 2001….5.0 V8…..rock solid, zero issues…beast……then in 2016 on a business trip I got a new Expedition as a rental. OMG, it flew! I remember accelerating onto the highway and I was absolutely stunned! Yup….3.5 ecoboost…….I bought a brand new 2017 and now it has 85k on it. Guy at work has 2017 too, but has 185k on it…no repairs………for me, I changed the plugs at 75k and they were clean! I chose to replace all the coil packs as well…preventative………Im still full stock, but going to add a tune and change cold air intake and exhaust now….so really appreciate your videos. I toyed with getting a new GMC Yukon with the 6.2L v8……but the gas mileage is really bad. GM also has issues with trans around 80k and some engine issues as well. So decided to keep mine for another 100k……I love the look (same color as yours), aand the drive…..cant wait to see how quick it will be with the add ons…..oh, and I run with a 3.73 rear end….so it already flies off the line…..keep making those videos…and love that Ford!
I have a 2019 F150 Roush 5.0L with an Oz Omega X tune and I love it, especially with the Oz tune. I’m able to run a 50/50 mix of E85 and 93 octane, which further increases the performance due to the highly increased octane. The only problem I’ve had with the 5.0L is that I had to have the VCT intake solenoids replaced at 40K miles, but fortunately that fell under warranty. But, I’ve never had any issues with oil consumption. The exhaust sounds great too, with the Roush cat-back exhaust and the Roush Cold Air Intake. I’d highly recommend the 5.0L’s from 2018-2023 because they run great naturally-aspirated, and they can always be supercharged for even more power.
Had a 2020 F150 XLT Sport 4x4 Crewmax 5.0 coyote. Burned 2 1/2 to 3 quarts of oil per 5000 miles. There was an issue with not having the cast iron cylinder liners in the engine. This caused excessive oil consumption. Did not happen on all of them. The main issue was 2018 to 2020. I never would have bought the 5.0 had I known of the issue before hand. I finally traded it for a 2023 with the 3.5 ecoboost. What a difference. The ecoboost blows away the 5.0 when it comes to performance in stock form! There is no comparison. I have only had the new truck for a few months but I can tell a huge difference in daily driving. It doesn't hunt for gears the way the 5.0 did on hills. I think the issues of the 5.0 are not as bad now but I have seen a few people comment that they have newer trucks than 2020 and still have oil consumption. I was just afraid to try it. I think before you buy one with a 5.0 you should drive one that is set up the way that you like. Would hate to see you get a 5.0 and make all the mods and then be dissatisfied with it. Good luck! You do a great job! I love your honesty and passion!
Great. I have another f150 with the 4.2 that I use for errands. I have to fight the urge to drive the coyote every day. My daughter will only get on the 5.0. just to hear the power.
I own a 2014 Ford F150 Ecoboost Platinum. Roush power pack, Borla Exhaust. I have 130,000 miles on it and the only problem I've had is a small oil leak around the timing chain cover which was fixed under warranty. I've driven it out of town at least once or twice a year. Towed trailers, etc. Roush tune didn't void warranty when I had a warranty. Truck runs great.
Ive seen on forums the ecoboost needs spark plugs as little as every 30k miles. Also make sure you turn off stability trac and traction comtrol before hard excleration. I had my truck go into limp mode after i hard accelereted through an intersection. Shut it off and back on everything was great again. My desiel mechanic buddy told me to turn all that crap off, if it starts to lose traction it freaks the electronics out sometimes and throws the truck into limp mode.
I own a 2017 F150 FX4 5.0L V8 4X4 81K miles on it. I recently had to have the front transmission coolant lines be replaced because they had a slow leak from corrosion. Othwrwise the truck has been rock solid.
I tried the cold air intake on my Chevy 2020 Trailboss Silverado 5.3 V8 and I went back to stock. Didn’t run correctly? I also installed a LT Pulsar on my truck; throttle sensitivity, removed the stop engine at stops, all 8 cylinders run, my speed can now go up to 120. Nice Ford! Love my Chevy!
I had a 2012 ecoboost before my raptor. Get new spark plugs and have a mechanic shop re set them. What's happening is, under stress you're misfiring because your spark plugs aren't set where they should be. I did a lot of work to my F150 ecoboost before learning about this. The misfire is bogging down the engine. I'm only 0:54 into the video but that's the solution to the concern you've expressed so far. If you shop at Stage3Motorsports, the spark plugs they have there actually specify how their supposed to be set. Just write it on the zip lock bag they come in and have them installed to those specifications and you're set my dude.
@@KickinItWithQ its worth a shot. Thats what caused mine to do it. Sucked too cause I was comeing home from vacation and speed up to pass a car and it just bogged on me.
@@KickinItWithQ lol. Dude for like 6 months after it happened I stopped passing people. I tried it again after new hoses, tune, intake, exhaust and intercooler and it still happened. I was so pist lol. Oh and BBK throttle body.
I have a 2016 2.7 Ecoboost bone stock here in Arizona. It gets over 120 degrees F in the summer and I have no sluggish issues. We bought it with 12,000 miles in 2017 and it has over 65,000 miles now. The only issue we had was a mouse or rat eating some wires under it. It's the best truck I've ever owned. We just change the oil and other regular maintenance. Nothing special. Thanks for the video.
I have a 2013 and mine did the same thing when I first put a mpt tune with the sct x4. All my problem was I needed new spark plugs. Should change your plugs every 30-40k miles when tuned. Hope this helps
Bro bigger intercooler, cold air take , turbo adapter, 170 thermostat help my temp go down towing in the summer 😉 those fittings are like $20 a pop not to hateful to do ur self
I agree brother, my 3.5 ford echoboost in my f150 has so much power,But the down side is this motor needs constant maintenance ( tlc) you can run it hard or work it hard it preforms, but you better change the oil on time keep air filter clean. A not too mention turbo warm up a cool off, plus the engine preforms way better on 91 or higher octane gas! All that said it’s a good engine if you literally stay on top of all maintenance, however the 5.0 is much simpler. You sacrifice power with that motor but not so many headaches!
I’m probably overheating the bricks in the converters with too much boost or a tune if a tune dumps in too much fuel or not enough you’ll cook the cats
Mine had cam phaser issues, since I had to fix it I replaced the manifolds, timing chains and a bunch of other little things. Mine is a 16 with a 160k miles, it’s a work truck and it runs hard.
Could be transmission oil low, I had that up hill gas it or low speed. Cause your power and it swing the oil. On the eco Boost make sure to change the oil on both and coolant yearly
I have read that these trucks with higher miles, eventually the cam phasers go that creates a similar sounds of rod knock and will mess with the timing and may also cause the back fire miss fire. Tunes also do that
@@KickinItWithQ sorry you had to deal with a whole bunch of problems with your truck recently. Honest to God, I had a coolant leakage problem myself on my 1st gen Colorado.I got it fixed three Saturdays ago. The connector hose and connection plug were hella bad and after I’d drive it, coolant was pouring out from underneath. I first thought it was power steering fluid since my alignments have been bad, but it was sort of a relief when I found out it was coolant.
Had a 2016 ecoboost with ssi tune with spd downpipes. And it would to the same thing changed my spark plugs. And fixed the problem. I use to buy mine from spd. They got the gt performance ones. And my had to be gapped to 26. Ram like a champ till I got my 2022 tremor 6.7.
My 2014 FX4 6inch lift on 35s just rolled over 60g miles and my pass turbo leaked. its about 2 grand to fix it. I'm just waiting for the driver side. 3.5 eco does pick up and i love it. I put a S&B cold air on it. You have me thinking about putting 37 on there.
Had the same exact issue! Exhaust (corsa extreme) popping like crazy when I really hit the gas, my truck is also tuned with same tuner you have. Couple times I got a flashing check engine light. Finally took it to a local shop. Turns out it was bad/cheap spark plugs. Put new plugs in it (same kind that come from factory) and new coil packs. Runs like a dream now, no issues. I am thinking of getting away from my ecoboost as well and going v8 gas or even power stroke. Leaning towards power stroke
Yea I swapped my plugs when I tuned it. They have about 30K miles on them. others have said ecos run through spark plugs faster. You didn't gap the stock plugs since you are running a tune?
@@KickinItWithQ I did not gap the plugs, and never had any issues. This last set of plugs that the local mechanic put in (who was a ford technician for a long time before opening his own shop) said the plugs he took out caused fords to be a little finicky. I forget the brand, maybe champion?? Can’t say for sure but whatever they were he said they were good in Toyotas and a couple other manufacturers. Ever since he changed my plugs and coil packs about 3 months ago, I have had zero issues and my truck runs perfectly fine.
What I have noticed with a lot of people who own them is. Short bed. No off-road package. No tow package. Mine. 2020. As a 6 foot bed. Tow package. Off-road package. Stock. I walk away from everything so far. Meaning. When a vehicle around me is a problem. See ya. Those that travel my street by my house. If I put that much peddle into mine. In major traffic in a city. I have to put mine in ECO mode so I don't hit the vehicle in front of me. The truck is that froggy. Thanks for the information.
I said it before and I say it again. I love my V8 5.0 Coyote. The only problem I have is that it stalls at a stop. not all the time but I can not figure out why it does it.
Man just traded in my 18 5.0L and got a new 22 3.5L and I’m absolutely loving it. I had a similar set up as you on my 5.0 and never went anywhere fast. That flowmaster super 10 with a resonator delete did sound amazing though. Will probably stick with the 3.5 or a diesel from now on.
i bought a 2018 tundra limited last friday 5.7 with the same 6 inch lift like your with some 35s i think. it rides smooth. im not a fast driver i take my time amd cruise . i looked up the rc shocks and your videos came up. thanks for all the info
I own a 2017 f150 ecoboost 2.7 haven't had any many issues with until I hit 124.000 my timing crankshaft snapped I'm glad I barely under the 125.000 warranty I got a brand new motor with 1 year or 12.000 miles I installed catch can new high performance intercooler and cold air intake ac vent multi gauges system no tuner yet and dealerships will find out if u put a tune even when u put it back to stock they look at your spark plug firing and timing on your truck with there computer my truck runs fast and stronger it's custom extended cab I named silentsmoker 2.7 has a custom mini fridge in center console made to fit in there.
my limp mode kicked in and I needed new spark plugs and a few new coil covers, but I do not have the tunes or anything fancy like that. Nice truck though
My 2012 3.5 has been great. It’s completely stock and has towed RV’s, boats, etc. I had to replace the fuel pump, but no major issues. That’s pretty good for an 11 year old truck. I like the set up on the truck in this video. Looks good!
Happened to me before limp mode driving to work I think in 55kmiles etc my 16 Ecoboost 3.5 was a bad electronic throttle body easy replacement but when mine took a dump it was not going out of limp mode tell I swapped a new one in
Same thing happened to mine. I have had to put three in mine after about 60-70k miles in between. I travel for a living. The second time it happened, I knew exactly what I needed to do due to my past experience. Replacement one was free at o’Reilly. I didn’t buy another from ford bc they wanted to charge me for diag instead of letting me swap that tb out. I think it’s a prevalent issue on these trucks.
Hey buddy every engine has problems nowadays it’s like pick your piston… I would really really recommend a bigger intercooler cause the stock ones get hot super fast… stick with regular maintenance and with your turbos the stock tune should get everything back in order then go back to mpt tune
Also...the turbo filters( from both turbos) should be replaced with new ones at around 45,ooo-50,000 miles of driving...because they can clog and cause damage to the turbos...not expensive, but, something you have to know if you have a turbo engine...
I just purchased a 2023 F-150 XLT Rocky Ridge 5.0L Coyote with all the bells and whistles so I wouldn’t have to go do everything separately myself AND everything is backed by Ford/Rocky Ridge with warranties. That’s the beauty of me purchasing one because I won’t lose any of my warranties due to upgrading my truck with lift kits and etc. And I have the Gen. 4 5.0L Coyote where Ford supposedly fixed the “Cam Phaser” and “Oil consumption” issues. I hope so because time will tell. 🤞🏾
I’ve been through three turbos and a long block at 70k. Yes, the turbos failed and it took out the engine. Luckily it was covered under warranty. Love the truck, keep the videos coming
Got my 2015 3.5l ecboost in december 2022 with 97k miles. in january 2023 the fuel pump and fuel module went out... i drove it for 2000 miles or so. Truck started having random problems with the Transmisson problems by the summer. The truck was around 115k miles By the end of the year of 2023 i had to rebuild the transmission and the torque converter. Which it was at 121k miles. now in 2024 i only have replaced the starter, cooling\ heating seat module and harness. I did start seeing some weird smoke come out of the passanger side under the hood but only once so wish me luck.
I had the same issue with mine. accelerating onto the fwy and the flashing engine light then slugishness for about 1-2 min then went away. for me it was coded in computer as misfire. Happened a couple times and took it in to get the Inginition coil ($100) replaced - issue resolved. btw my 2016 3.5 is stock tuned
@@KickinItWithQ definitely not to late to start. It will definitely extend the life of your engine and turbos. Also, change spark plugs every 25-30k miles on tuned ecoboosts
@@KickinItWithQ I use Penzoil Ultra Platinum (not the same as Platinum) & Motorcraft filters. You will have to order Ultra Platinum since basically no one carries it, but it’s rated 2nd place after Amsoil and is more reasonably priced.
I have the 5.0 v8 and pretty much the same setup as yours ...im tuned by 5star tuning and even on my 87 octane tune it rips....no problem at all getting up to speed ...I'd race any ecoboost.
Love the video concept. Real world conversations. I’m a big ford truck person. On my 5th full size about to get 2023. Had a 2015 4X4 5.0L 7” lift stretched on 37” tires. Stock gears with CAI AND CAT BACK. Ran it for 100K plus miles. Daily driven, worked hard and played harder. Never had any problems. Basic maintenance only. Can’t go wrong with 5.0L. Also just so you know the 5.0L out tows the Eco😉. Great job on the video bro.
I’d have to disagree that the 5.0 “out-tows” the Ecoboost. Yeah, the 5.0 will get better fuel mileage… because when the 3.5 gets into the turbos, it becomes thirsty… but this is why the MaxTow for the 3.5 Ecoboost is 14k lbs, and the MaxTow for the 5.0 is 11k lbs. I’ve owned both. 5.0 pulling 9k uphill, downshift to 7th gear and run 5500 RPMs - Same trailer, same load, same hill, same speed - the stock Ecoboost drops to 9th gear running 2400 RPMs. Two different animals, I guess it really comes down to what you prefer.
@@bigf1502 to each his own brotha. I’m just basing this on my own experience. I’ve had quite a few of them, all lifted (leveled to 7” kits) with 33-37 inch tires. My MPG was still waaaaaay better with the 5.0L and my trailer with full and mid size race car etc. no problems. That 2017 3.5L Eco on just leveling kit and slightly bigger tires was horrible. Thirsty is a understatement to say the least, and it struggled to get up to speed with trailer. I know on paper things look and sounds good but driving these trucks daily you see the difference. ina former certified Ford tech so I’ve seen a thing or two with these trucks. There great trucks either way but based on what your gonna do with them, plan ahead when purchasing.
@@patrickthomas4646 Maybe you had the non turbo’d v6? Lol… I’ve owned both as well, a 10 speed V8, and a 10 speed 3.5 Twin-Turbo V6… the TT V6 is a better choice when towing and/or daily driver. People love to hate the Turbo’d trucks, because they’ve owned/never driven them. I’ll likely never go back to a NA V8, I miss the sound sometimes, but at the end of the day… they shit all over the NA V8s. That’s the truth. The future is forced induction v6 - or turbo diesel, but with turbo diesel you have to deal with DEF (unless deleted/ tuned). The sound that the v8 makes, and mpg while towing are the only things that are positive on the NA v8 vs twin turbo v6. The twin turbo v6 will tow better than the NA v8. That is a guarantee. Stock, or with a tune. The only way a 5.0 will tow as comfortably as a 3.5 is with a supercharger, and your looking at 8k-10k+ for that. Stock 3.5 Ecoboost with 1k vested gets you 500HP, 600 Ft-Lb torque at the wheel. I’m not knocking the 5.0… the 5.0 stock IN A ROLL RACE will slightly pull on a stock 3.5 Ecoboost. The 3.5 Ecoboost stock will pull on the 5.0 from a dig. Under load, the Ecoboost will pull much easier and more comfortable than the 5.0, and that’s the truth. Anyone with brains will know this. Thus is why an Ecoboost with 35s will be equivalent to a 5.7 hemi or even the 5.0 on 32s from 0-governor. The torque gets the truck moving to top speed much quicker because of the torque difference. I agree with the “Plan ahead when purchasing”… If you’re going to sink 10k+ into a handheld/ supercharger / tune, get the 5.0, and have a 700HP/ 600 Ft-Lbs Torque monster. If you’re going to throw 1k into a handheld/ tune… get the 3.5 Ecoboost and have 500HP/ 600 Ft-Lbs Torque monster. But just to let everyone know… If you get the Ecoboost… you’ll never have the sound of the v8. You probably won’t miss it very often tho. You have to change the oil more often in the Ecoboost vs 5.0 (because it’s constantly being rotated by the 5.0s oil consumption). Spark plugs need changed every 30k-40k miles on the Ecoboost (100 bucks every few years). If you tow, you’ll get worse fuel mileage than the 5.0 while towing. Empty, the 3.5 will get slightly better fuel mileage. Gen 2/3 Ecoboost has dual timing chains, it’s really not an issue like it was on the first Gen. Any truck you purchase, from any manufacturer, put a catch can on it. If you lift the truck, stock vs stock or tuned vs tuned, the NA vehicle will be slower. I still average 20mpg+ with my lifted 3.5 Ecoboost on 35s while driving on the highway. I’m not saying that one is better than the other, it’s all in what the buyer prefers. I can’t personally speak on longevity, as I never keep any vehicle past 100k miles… although I see a lot of 5.0s and Ecoboosts with 250k+ for sale in my area, and not a lot of GMs or Rams with 250k+ for sale.
@@bigf1502 lol. Again it’s basically it’s what YOU like and what you want to do with it,is what it comes down to. I don’t and never will knock any vehicle. V6 V8 supercharged turbo doesn’t matter. I have and had several cars super cars and hemi as well fully built turbo cars and so on I get it I understand what you’re trying to say I agree with you and if you really must know that eco-boost 3.5 will make in the upwards close to 900 horse with the right mods and pretty much stock internals like I said I’m a former Ford certified tech, I actually took a class on this and I actually know engineers personally so I know what I’m talking about, it’s not to knock anybody. My choice is the V8 power and yes with a some bolt ons like a supercharger or even maybe a TwinTurbo kit definitely will walk over most of anything, but is it worth it probably not but I appreciate the debate.. My eco boost was good, but in a lifter close to 7k pound truck the V8 in my experience is a better option. The V8 sound is definitely a bonus. Take care.
Lol you may prefer the v8 for various reasons, but 5.0 in no way pulls better than the 3.5tt. I pull my 5k lb camper (nowhere near as much as I'm rated for) and the only time it ever even hit 3k rpm is when I go to pass. It runs 2200 to 2400 uphill through the mountains. You might get better fuel economy but that's about it.
Honestly for a 1st gen 3.5 Ecoboost the best mod would be a water/meth injection kit. It would cool up the intake air temps while cleaning up the backsides of the intake valves. This would also increase the potential power gains, especially if you know a reputable person who can tune on a dyno. I know alot of people dont mind getting tunes VIA email, but having it tuned with the weather conditions at your location will really make it run better.
My 2019 F150 5.0 V8 did this as well. They could not seem to fix the issues which is why I was forced to sell it back to them cause I was not going to keep paying for a car that they could not fix. Not to mention i was out of warranty. The popping my car did that too and the code it kept throwing was a misfire in cylinders 1 and 3 then it said cylinder 2 and 4. They changed the catalytic converter, the MAF sensor, etc and still could not find out what the issue was.
All it needs is spark plugs. I have a 2019 3.5 Ecoboost and when mine did this I thought something was majorly wrong. When the plugs go bad on these engines the boost will blow the spark out and it feels like the transmission is going out violently. The flashing check engine light is indicating repeated misfires. Spark plug change and it'll be good as new. Spark plugs on these trucks is a simple job. Don't give up on your truck yet!!!
Got my '15 3.5 Eco with 38K. Now has 110K. Only issue I've had is sometimes I have to flip the visor down to block the sun.
😂 hey that’s not a bad problem to have right there. Hopefully my troubles are behind me.
🤣😂🤣 Same with my 2014 I had a fuel injector thingy replacement at 116k. Love my truck!
If I was with you.. I would replace the timing guides (sprockets with the updated ones) & water pump
Is the issue covered by warranty?
332,000 miles on my 2013 SuperCrew XLT 5.0 truck and it still runs like the day I bought it new. Only motor work done is timing cover gasket and water pump. Best vehicle I have ever owned, hands down!
The 5.0 coyote that is in those are also in the mustangs and is one of the best engines ford has ever produced.
Nice!
How many miles did you get out of the factory water pump? I’m at 201k on mine. So far so good.
@@kentjohnson8266 I’m at 305 thousand and still not changed it
364,000 on my 2011 F150. 5.0. Changed water pump @330,000. Nothing wrong w/ the water pump. replaced brushes in the Alternator because had to replace oil pressure switch because of leak, since I had to remove the Alternator figure I would inspect & change it. The truck still runs great.
I’ve got a 2019 2.7 ecoboost with 71k kms. Has been nothing but a dream so far
Yes I hear the 2.7 is the more reliable motor of the ecoboost
What you need to keep the turbos from heat soaking is a bigger intercooler not a bigger radiator. I put in a CVF intercooler in mine and night & day difference in keeping the intake air temps cold and retaining power. You should look into that, it's an easy install and you'll really feel the difference on hot days. When you're doing it, you may want to upgrade your blow-off-valve if you want to hear the blow off sound of your turbos. I have a video of it in my profile if you want to hear what it sounds like.
Yes, I said radiator but I meant intercooler. I definitely going to look into that next.
100% specially the blow off valve. They are not capable of handling the extra boost. No offense, but you complaining about the 3.5 cus you thought everything would just workout with a universal tune. I found out the hard way as well. Limp mode when launch from 0. BOV could not handle it
@@KickinItWithQ I believe you have a light bar blocking airflow to your intercooler too, may want to remove that?
It may look like it’s blocking a lot of airflow, but he’s really not. The license plate that goes there blocks out more air.

Congrats on the truck! And thanks man i appreciate that
I’m not a Ford guy, but that’s a beautiful color and a really nice looking truck.
I appreciate that man!
A larger “Intercooler” is what you need. Also you can set up a nos intercooler spray that keeps the air super cold for the turbos. Another trick is taking the auto intercooler temp flaps ( for a lack of the technical term) out to where there is always ambient air flowing through.
Yes I meant intercooler not sure why I said radiator 😂. Definitely going to order one here soon
Are you referring to the active air shutter behind the grille?
2018 Coyote with 80k. No issues, easy to work on. V8 sound. Ecoboost performance is amazing when tuned in comparison, but most people can't work on them due to the "plumbing" and complex issues of turbos. N/A is the way to go. Go V8 and get a coyote, you won't regret it! The new 10 speeds shift amazing too.... My lariat is all stock though
Yea man I’m definitely learning the hard way hopefully my issue behind me. If not definitely moving on

I love my 2nd gen ecoboost. It’s amazing. Best engine I have ever owned.
Glad you are enjoying it bro I hear a great things about them and like I said, so far, I’ve only had one issue related to it being a ecoboost
My 2012 3.5 F150 also popped on hard acceleration with engine lightcxoming on. Replaced plugs and coils and it did not pop and no engine light.
Nice! Thanks for sharing that info bro
Thanks man I appreciate device. I definitely think I’m going to just get a new intercooler.
I’m looking at mishimoto
Ive been wanting an Ecoboost anything for a long time. And I've been hearing all the issues about them for a long time and now I feel like I'm more prepared for a Ecoboost because I know preventative maintenance is key and some built better aftermarket mods
You going be surprise.
Have 2013 with 5.0 with 305 thousand miles with zero issues. Chose that over the eco boost
the issues i have with the 8 is if you mod it to get any HP you have turbo or supercharge it which is big money 10-15k to get another 100 hp out of it where as a eco will cost you about 500 for a tune to get the same HP and torque
Facts very true bro!
I'm learning about the maintencance now. Some are recommending 3k oil changes as opposed to 5k
I'm so proud of you, and to see how far you have come with this page!
I'm really impressed with all your mechanical talk, knowing damn well when you bought the truck you probably didn't even know how to unlock the doors without the owners manual.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂 🤣 Man I’ve definitely come a long way, bro I still don’t get to work on stuff myself unless it’s super easy lol. But knowledge is power for sure. 💪🏾
Start switching out the radiator and heat extractors to keep it running cooler
I’m a grandpa 61, great channel, I got my 2nd tiny lil 2.7 Ecoboost, driven easy I get around 21 around rurral Southern West Virginia and stock it’s got plenty of get up and go for an old man, I drove a 5.0 and it just seemed to scream all the time, the 2.7 rarely climbs above 2500 rpm the way I drive and I like that, pull a 5,000 pound camper 5 or 6 times a year and it does fine.
I hear the 2.7 actually is the most reliable out of the eco-boost engine
Sorry to run on, but you have an awesome heart that comes through the channel and I’m sure you’re a Blessing to those who know you,
@@poppyneese1811 I appreciate you sharing that story and for the words 🤝🏾
@@KickinItWithQ yeah, I’ve heard a lot of good things about the coyote engine. For the record you do have a really nice truck 👍
I have a 2014 Ford Flex with the 3.5 Ecoboost. I haven’t done anything to it and it’s a blast to drive. Your truck is slick.
Thanks man I appreciate that and just like you many others have said the same thing
Another guy said the same thing I have to look into this I’ve never heard of this before. Thanks for sharing information man.
@@KickinItWithQ tuned eco boosts tend to run through spark plugs a little quicker. Not a bad idea to swap them out.
Thanks for the info man!
Yes I did this successfully for 230xxx miles. Got my truck at 30xxx
Towed it's entire life.
Big Blue 2013 3.5 with 131k and runs great. Same tune. Bigger and heavier mud tires, bigger intercooler, Dual exhaust, plus K&N cold air intake. I love it.
Nice bro! Nice choice of mods
Lol
You definitely should make videos man. OK I think I might add spark plugs to the top of the list.

Take care!
Haha 😂 they are very fast! Fun to drive. Thanks for sharing your experience man.
Man, I really appreciate all of this value information! Thank you so much for sharing this
I recently bought a 2023 F150 XLT FX4 with the 3.5 Ecoboost.
Thanks bro I appreciate your sharing all the information and feedback. Yes, the eco-boost performance is amazing! I agree with you 5.0 for the sound

Nice man! Glad you loving the Ride
Thanks for sharing man!
Thanks for sharing that your experience man! I tell people the performance of Ecoboost are hard to beat. Which is why I love it

Good stuff
I had the same issue on my 2020.changed the coil packs and it fixed the issue.
Def think I’m doing new coils
Ive seen on forums the ecoboost needs spark plugs as little as every 30k miles. Also make sure you turn off stability trac and traction comtrol before hard excleration. I had my truck go into limp mode after i hard accelereted through an intersection. Shut it off and back on everything was great again. My desiel mechanic buddy told me to turn all that crap off, if it starts to lose traction it freaks the electronics out sometimes and throws the truck into limp mode.
Good to know, bro. And I am at about 30 K on my current spark plugs.
I own a 2017 F150 FX4 5.0L V8 4X4 81K miles on it. I recently had to have the front transmission coolant lines be replaced because they had a slow leak from corrosion. Othwrwise the truck has been rock solid.
2011 3.5 EC 244k on the dash and I’ve only had to replace the vacuum brake assist pump. People beat on their trucks then complain when they break it 😂
I tried the cold air intake on my Chevy 2020 Trailboss Silverado 5.3 V8 and I went back to stock. Didn’t run correctly? I also installed a LT Pulsar on my truck; throttle sensitivity, removed the stop engine at stops, all 8 cylinders run, my speed can now go up to 120. Nice Ford! Love my Chevy!
Nice! Thanks for sharing that
If the check engine light flashes while running it is a active missfire
Thanks for the info bro might be tough and new spark plugs and coils
Yea the ones I have now are gapped to .28 but they have 30k miles on them. prob time for new ones
@@KickinItWithQ its worth a shot. Thats what caused mine to do it. Sucked too cause I was comeing home from vacation and speed up to pass a car and it just bogged on me.

Thanks bro! Definitely at the mileage for me plugs!
Bro bigger intercooler, cold air take , turbo adapter, 170 thermostat help my temp go down towing in the summer 😉 those fittings are like $20 a pop not to hateful to do ur self
I meant bigger intercooler I don’t know why I said radiator lol. Yes the turbo adapters are good as well. Appreciate you watch in bro.
@@KickinItWithQ hahaha u where to distracted by the planes 🤣
Facts LOL! And I was hot af lol
I couldn’t have said it better myself, bro
I’m probably overheating the bricks in the converters with too much boost or a tune if a tune dumps in too much fuel or not enough you’ll cook the cats
Mine had cam phaser issues, since I had to fix it I replaced the manifolds, timing chains and a bunch of other little things. Mine is a 16 with a 160k miles, it’s a work truck and it runs hard.
I was having problems with the coil packs. I eventually replaced all 6 coil packs and plugs. The problems cleared up.
Yea that usually fixes it and best to do all at once

Congrats on new truck! Yeah, I think it’s the spark plugs as well. They got about 30 K on them now
what is SPD?
known problem condinsation in intercooler. drill pinhole you will be good
misfire could be the condinsation fouled plugs. also common problem plugs in these burn out faster
could be something else but it is super commo. so id guess thats what it is

2:15 it’s misfiring you need plugs. There’s too much gap in them and they need replacing. It’s like an hour job pretty easy motorcraft SP580.
thanks bro. The ones in there now are gapped but have about 30k miles on them so prob time for new ones
Gotcha I appreciate the information man.
Check all 4 VCT solenoid connectors, make sure they’re clean
@@rafaelramos5891 thanks for the advice I will look into it.
I purchased a bumper to bumper warranty with my 17 F150 3.5 Platnuim
Traded my 2.7 ecoboost for 5.0 put magnaflo muffler love sound nothing beats the sound of a v8 trade that in before something expensive brakes
V8 definitely simpler man. A lot of potential issues with these ecoboost
I had problems with my V8. I ended up trading it. Sounded great though!
What problems you had with your v8?
@@KickinItWithQ bad oil consumption issue that Ford would do nothing about
Good info, that’s why I just bought the 6.2
It's just time to step over to the Duramax side bro! Keep'em coming
The Denali’s are definitely going on me. Thanks for watching bro.
The popping could be your fuel injectors. I had to replace mine already
Did you do it yourself? How much does that cost?
The truck didnt make the popping sound again? I never had mine tuned and its doing the same popping at high rpm and i dont know what it could be?
It hasn’t made it since it took it back to stock. I’ll see what happens when I add the tune back
Man just traded in my 18 5.0L and got a new 22 3.5L and I’m absolutely loving it. I had a similar set up as you on my 5.0 and never went anywhere fast. That flowmaster super 10 with a resonator delete did sound amazing though. Will probably stick with the 3.5 or a diesel from now on.
Yea the 3.5 is a beast of an engine man! They can really go!
i bought a 2018 tundra limited last friday 5.7 with the same 6 inch lift like your with some 35s i think. it rides smooth. im not a fast driver i take my time amd cruise . i looked up the rc shocks and your videos came up. thanks for all the info
Glad you’re enjoying the videos, man and congrats on your new truck!
If you are concerned about heat and yes i know about the heat in texas an aftermarket intercooler will help alot. Cooler AIT equals more power.
Yes, I definitely think I’m going to do a intercooler next
Appreciate you sharing bro!
I have a king Ranch powerstroke samelift and tire size (ruby red) I think I would go with a V8 gas and some type of forced induction next
My 2012 3.5 has been great. It’s completely stock and has towed RV’s, boats, etc. I had to replace the fuel pump, but no major issues. That’s pretty good for an 11 year old truck. I like the set up on the truck in this video. Looks good!
Thanks man I appreciate you sharing your experience as well as watching video!
I appreciate the info man
Also...the turbo filters( from both turbos) should be replaced with new ones at around 45,ooo-50,000 miles of driving...because they can clog and cause damage to the turbos...not expensive, but, something you have to know if you have a turbo engine...
I removed mine so they wouldn't clog, haven't had an issue
I saw another guy say this as well. Thanks for the information.
Totally agree! I have one f150 ecoboost and I could not explain better the PROS and CONs of it, so I would't buy it again either.
Great engines just very expensive to maintain
Another banger video. Just picked up my 2015 f150 lariat last week. Love it so far. Keep up the good videos. Love your truck.
Congrats on the new truck man enjoy it
I just purchased a 2023 F-150 XLT Rocky Ridge 5.0L Coyote with all the bells and whistles so I wouldn’t have to go do everything separately myself AND everything is backed by Ford/Rocky Ridge with warranties. 🤞🏾
I hope it works out for you. I have a 2.7 EB f150. 102k miles and the only issue ive had is a slight rough idle when i refuel
Thanks man I’m glad to hear yours is treating you well
Probably time for spark plugs.
Might be time to change that purge valve
Hey that a throuttle body issue had the same thing it will get to the point where it will only idle.
Thanks for the insight man. I actually just replace the thought of body like two months ago so I know it’s not that.
I’ve been through three turbos and a long block at 70k. Yes, the turbos failed and it took out the engine. Luckily it was covered under warranty. Love the truck, keep the videos coming
Dang thank goodness for that warranty bro! I appreciate you watching
Thanks for sharing
I'm on my 2nd ecoboost truck, a 2018 king Ranch with a 3.5 ecoboost...
I have the 3.5 ecoboost with a 133345 miles haven't had any problems yet out of the turbos
See I have tons of guys like you say the same thing so hopefully my problems are behind me now and we’re good to go
The way to avoid this issue is oil and filter changes every 5K miles with quality full synthetic oil
He's tuned, so he should really be changing @3k.
I definitely don’t change every 3k 😂…Should I start ..🤔
Are use full synthetic penzoil oil only and Motorcraft filters only
@@KickinItWithQ definitely not to late to start.
Change your spark plugs!
Yep! Preciate that info!
I have the 5.0 v8 and pretty much the same setup as yours ...im tuned by 5star tuning and even on my 87 octane tune it rips....no problem at all getting up to speed ...I'd race any ecoboost.
Nice!
I agree with the “Plan ahead when purchasing”…
If you’re going to sink 10k+ into a handheld/ supercharger / tune, get the 5.0, and have a 700HP/ 600 Ft-Lbs Torque monster.
If you’re going to throw 1k into a handheld/ tune… get the 3.5 Ecoboost and have 500HP/ 600 Ft-Lbs Torque monster.
But just to let everyone know…
If you get the Ecoboost… you’ll never have the sound of the v8.
Good info with the meth injection. Thanks For sharing that. The tune definitely helps
Man hate to hear it bro . Surprised they didn’t do new sparks plugs and coils
I got a 2014 F150 with the 3.5 Eco boost. Has 165,000 miles and have had no problems
Nice glad is treating you well
All it needs is spark plugs.
Thanks for the info man! Actually got new plugs on the way.
My wife’s 2011 ecoboost F150 would backfire a few times under hard acceleration! We quickly got rid of it for a coyote V8 and never looked back
Haha smart
