- Watch me quite literally get burned by my own game 🙁
At 19:50 I forget to conduct German Tank Operations for the second Panzer. Silly me.
At 38:00 I forget to conduct the Sherman Miscellaneous Ops Section, but I don't think it would have saved me!
One thing I didn't get to cover was if a '2' is rolled on the 'What Damage?' chart, which is a KIA. It tells you at the bottom of that chart to roll a d6. On a 1 to 5, the relevant crew member is KIA (they are numbered at the bottom of the map). On a 6, your Commander is also KIA if he is in the Popped Hatch position. If the relevant crew member is already KIA, you have a lucky escape.
A comment to 43:20 , from a tanker with 21 years of experience: yeah, you don't want to be on a road during any combat operations (if you can help it), but especially during any repair/refit operations 😂. So your abstraction limiting to 1 miscellaneous order die is spot on, as far as I'm concerned 👍
Thanks - nice to have it confirmed by an expert!
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames LOL - I don't know about "expert" ... let's just say I absorbed a lot of lessons along the way
As a Tanker with 20 years of experience, Joel know of what he speaks. The ONLY reason I would prefer a road is to change or repair track cause it's a pain doing that in the mud. :) Other than that, find better cover.
@@uwebech5825 It's a shame we almost never seemed to throw track on roads, right? LOL 😂
@@joelcole161 Fact of life. :)
Sir, your Hostage Rescue Squad video and this one just made you a couple of sales. I was skeptical at first, but the playthroughs showcased and the most excellently laid out procedures on the left hand side left me no choice but to become a fan.
Thank you - hope you have a good time with them.
This looks terrific - I just ordered a copy from Amazon Prime.
Thank you for all the effort you put into this!
My pleasure, and thank you for supporting me with your purchase. That allows me to keep making more games 😀
Some of your games remind me of the likes of Ambush & Mosby's Raiders !
........which is a good thing i guess cos they are awesome solo games.....
Keep up the great work i would say !
Thanks - high praise indeed!
I got my copy from Amazon and a friend is painting little 3D printed tanks/vehilces for me. Can't wait to play!!
Finally succeeded at mission 2 after 5 failed attempts. Decided to go straight for the Tiger as it was the nearest tank to my Sherman on first round, managed to damage it and avoid any fire from enemy tanks and then destroy the Tiger on round 2. A little manoeuvring and avoiding a Panzer IV addition and finally escaped off top of map after round 6/7. Excellent and compelling game play Mike, thank you. On to mission 3
Thanks for this great video, Mike. Love Fields of Normandy and was planning to get the Battles of Normandy after that - but after watching this video, I think I'll first grab this one instead.
And love how your gameplays get you crushed by your own game - with Fields of Normandy it was the same, IIRC 😂
Yep, I get crushed regularly!
Your games are a pleasure to play and your vids are a pleasure to watch...Keep up your good work...I currently own 3 of your games, but this number will increase.
Thanks - means a lot 🥹
Bought the game book, Love it. Having a blast with it. I scanned the maps in and enlarged them a bit more so I can use Memoir 44 Tank and infantry figs. (also helps my aging eyes). I am really enjoying the game mechanics and the scenarios. The Tiger is tough... BUT I was able to defeat it... (From behind!) Thanks for the Great Game Mike!
Glad you're enjoying it. Thanks.
Oeh, great idea! I would love to use my Memoir 44 tanks and figures 😍
Great Playthrough. I ordered this yesterday based on Kilroys review and know I am really glad I did. What a cracking good game.
Thanks!
I've just played Mission 1, which is my first ever hex and dice game. I really enjoyed it. Didn't think it would be so engrossing but it was and I can't wait to play again.
Just got to get my ahead around the rules for Battle for Ramadi next.
Currently eyeing up your other books now! On mission 3 now and looking forward to playing more.
Looks incredible! I will definitely pick this up when I’m able to!
Looks very fun!!
Thanks 🙂
Hey Mike, my daughter ordered Lone Sherman and Battles of the English Civil War for me recently and I reimbursed her for them. She is getting married in August and your games will be perfect for a long-distance train trip (probably in a sleeper). Hopefully I won't bug my wife too much with comments about the action! Your games are top-notch.
Thanks! And congratulations to your daughter 🥳
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames I'll pass your congratulations on to her! Forgot, she's actually getting married in July. By the way, this instructional playthrough is so good that I will have a huge leg up on playing and learning the game. Thanks!
Still watching the video, but immediately ordered my first Mike Lambo book after reading comments that the game is ready to purchase. Looking forward to playing Lone Sherman. Thank you, Mike!
Thanks 🙂
Haunted Tank featured in DC Comics’ G.I.Combat made me a Sherman tank fan. I’d love to implement in my games a possible ghost assist once per game. A do-over our some type of mulligan! Thanks again, Mike
@@jonanjello Go for it - feel free to adjust the rules however you like. That's the joy of solo gaming!
Back off 2 weeks holiday in the early hours of the morning, for this to land today!! Literally just ordered, without watching the play through (yet)... So anticipated is this one for me, that I've also used my wife's account as she has Amazon Prime! 😂.. That's my Sunday sorted before back to work next week! Thanks Mike for the perfect end to a cracking holiday!! 💪 (Looking forward to watching this play through later with a proper cup of Yorkshire Tea.. Oh how I have missed thee)!! ☕🤣
Thanks John you star ✨
This is so clever. you're a genius.
I'm certainly not, but thank you anyway!
I have just seen that it is already available. Bought! Waiting for it to arrive. It looks quite interesting. Very good job, looking forward to playing it. 😍
Thanks Alex 👍
Excellent! Ordered! Thanks Mike, this looks amazing.
Thanks Kenny 👍
Another well thought out game Mike. Haven't play these type of games for years. Already got your 'Hostage' game. Would be interesting to see an expansion to this 'Sherman' game. Perhaps adding the Tiger tank versus the Sherman Firefly to take it on? Cheers
Thanks. Yes, expansions are something I’ve thought about before. Initially my aim is always to keep them very accessible and playable and of course I need to fit the main rules on one page next to each map!! The tough choice is always what to leave out. But don’t worry, you’ll get to face off against Tigers in this one.
I really love this one! Thanks Mike!
You're very welcome!
Great video - I should be getting Lone Sherman in 2 days and anxious to play. I already own 4 of your books....
Thanks. Hope it lives up to your expectations 👍
This looks great and I'm going to order this right now. As an amatuer war gamer I do have a newbie question. At 33:44 you chose to fire at the Panzer in front 2 spaces away instead of firing on the damaged Panzer 1 space away. I know it was off to the rear but is that Panzer still in line of site?
Yes, both Panzers were in Line of Sight at that stage (LoS runs in all 6 directions). Perhaps I should have gone for the damaged Panzer. I don't always play my best when concentrating on getting everything right and moving things on for the camera (at least, that's my excuse!). And thanks for buying 🙂
These poor tankers, all these bounced rounds their ears must be ringing like crazy. Lol
Hi Mike, I'm not flush with gaming funds, so that is another reason why your games are so accessible.. I watched this instruction vid tonight and I'm putting this game on my list. I think I will do magnetic for counters.. not sure.. I'm a bit clumsy so don't want a mess with glue lol. if there is a campaign, would there be something like experience points? Curious, maybe not this one but other games, its just that watching you play, its like you can make a story off that, and link them together. Thats just how my brain works I guess.. like fire blows up the Sherman but one crew gets away into the trees, radios command haha.
@@LK3185. Thanks! There are no experience points as such. You get to patch up a little between missions in a campaign. The question is always where to stop when designing a game, so as not to end up with a book that is unnecessarily thicker and more expensive as a result. Hope you enjoy it.
I didn’t make it through the video before I had to order this, can’t wait!
Thanks 🙂
Just ordered ,will be in on Sunday looking forward to it.
Thanks 👍
I am looking forward to playing "Lone Sherman." Can you provide any links to sites where I can purchase game tokens (tanks, infantry, etc.) to use with this game as well as others? Thanks!
Most of my games come with a counter sheet which can be removed and mounted on card. The sheet is also available in the files section for the game on boardgamegeek.com. I don’t personally make any other tokens but sometimes other people do. Again you’ll find them in the files section as above for each game. For Lone Sherman, someone did provide miniatures as seen in my video here, which has the link in the description ua-cam.com/video/8Bs7_AGLYaU/v-deo.html
Hope that helps,
Mike
Ordered! simple easy fun!
Thanks!
Will arrive in my Amazon Locker Tuesday!
Thanks!
Hi Mike. One question: are the components included with the game? Or do I have to stick them to cardboard to have that thickness?
Thanks!
The book comes with the counter page as the final page of the book so that it can easily be removed. Alternatively, it can be downloaded from the game's BoardGameGeek page in the Files section. The sheet can then be mounted on any card and the counters cut out with scissors or a craft knife. Check my video on Making Counters for my Games. Thanks. ua-cam.com/video/W9PZrPhmxls/v-deo.html
Well, that was brutal.... Can't wait! 😂
Yeah, I'm much better than that really. Honest.
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames 😂.... To quote the film FURY ... "Best job I ever had" 😬
I do like the hexagonal counters
Yes - they work well I think and there aren't too many of them so easy to make. The sheet is available on BoardGameGeek already if you fancy some "pre-preparation"!
Good to know. I may do some pre-prepping for the game’s arrival tomorrow.
Thank you Mike!
What material have you stuck the counters onto? Never sure what card to use thanks
I use card from a stationers. It’s about 2mm thick I guess. But I’ve used cereal cartons and cardboard before and both worked pretty well. Thick enough to be sturdy, thin enough to cut.
a new game thank you, i buy it , i love this, thank from france ; i wait a book loke this with sf theme
It's coming!
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames thank you i m in france who can i be alerted when it s coming?
@@usaghy1O If you subscribe to my channel here you’ll see videos on it when it gets near release. Won’t be for a while yet though 👍🙂
So you can't do maneuver twice then miscellaneous?
"A or B", then "A or B" would have led me to think the other way around
No, you can’t. Check this out, around page 13: “The first decision for the Player in this Phase is to decide the order in which to perform the three sections: Manoeuvre, Attack and Miscellaneous. There are two choices. The Player can choose to:
➢ Manoeuvre, then Attack, and then carry out Miscellaneous Actions, or
➢ Attack, then Manoeuvre, and then carry out Miscellaneous Actions.”
Thanks.
Am I missing something or did you forget about the second German tank on the German's turn 2?
I think I did! I'll add a note to the description. Thanks.
How many dice do you need to play this ❤ just got it today
Page 4: At least 5, but preferably 7. Hope you enjoy it. And thanks.
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames just got this game and wow one of the best wargames I've played my Sherman came off the map after destroying 4 German tanks on fire and two of my crew killed its such a blast to play thnx so much and the tanks are awesome to 🤘🏻☺️☺️
