I’m a teen, I hate it when people put me in a box because of my age. I deliberately try to act as least like a “teen” and possible. And the media doesn’t help in my endeavour, I’m glad there’s at least some science that gives some reason to why people label and box teens up other than that they are entitled old people with expectations. I am so sick of it.
The other day a random guy asked me “when’s the party?” I just looked at him because I was so confused and he replied with “a girl your age needs heels and a boyfriend”

But the “real” reason why is because currently we are in the most “socially depressed” generation of all time. Mainly due to social media, more bullying, and more stress.

I'm 18 and I've always been a huge introvert. I've always been most at peace when I'm Alone, able to do my own thing. I also hate the school system because it's outdated as hell and is designed to kill you (suicide rates right there) and your future depends on doing well in it. So I guess I always have been and still am a moody teen but for me, it's a part of the way I operate. I need to be alone, not want, need.

I never liked it when people disregard teenagers' problems because they think it's just teens being unnecessarily moody. Whether or not it is hormones or something blowing things out of proportion, it can still be bad. Teens kill themselves over these problems that people brush off as "teen angst."

@@MelB868 oh, for sure teens are moody frequently, that’s a fact, but i’m more so frustrated that teenagers’ emotions get brushed off because they tend to be moodier. like, when you’re a teen your worldview is a lot smaller, so small inconveniences and problems feel way bigger, so to adults it seems like an overreaction.

At animal shelters, if a kitten comes in pregnant they will send it to be fixed and abort all the kittens. I have worked in both shelters and vet offices and it's a very sad thing to see. That's why it's important to spay or neuter animals very young.

Teens are programmed to be edgy by nature, and the fact that they change slightly with each generation, doesn't mean that they should be seperated as "edgy class" - it's like saying "I'm not racist, but black people look like turds" when you (for this example) are black toned. You were part of that group, and now suddenly, (I doubt you're even older than 23) you SOMEHOW pull out the right to fold teens into a box all due to their age and hormonal changes. Also, my corpus colossum does not work properly, so I tend to behave impulsively and irrationaly. This is the scientific reason for it. There are a lot of other reasons too, like being treated like kids, and expected to act like adults. School can also be stressful for them, so they sometimes act out under stress and anxiety. It's hard being a teen with all of this stuff happening at once, let alone puberty.
