Learning the note mapping of the neck is easy. The hard part is making it all second nature so you can actually jam in any desired key at any given time. Hence why I practice arpeggios on every fret and string, forward and backward, major and minor. Of course once you get to high e string things get limited for arpeggio work, unless you run them just backwards, which is just as vital to practice. Chord shapes will make changes, much like barred chords, depending on the chord type, (Like a 7th chord) root note and string you're starting your bass root note with. Arpeggio shapes however, don't change but there are different ways to play a certain arpeggio from a given string depending on the intonation you want. Each string has a specific major and minor arpeggio shape that's universal for that string. If you play a G major arpeggio starting from the low E string, you can play major arpeggios in every key on that string, just sliding up each fret to change the key, the shape stays the same. Its a good way to familiarize each key's chord spelling and moving from major to minor arpeggios and back. Chord spelling doesn't change either. Major and minor spelling is always 1st, 3rd and 5th note of the key, with an added 1st if you want it there. The only thing that makes them major or minor is by flatting or sharpening certain notes in that chord's spelling. Hence the minor steps are literally the same formula for major steps of W-W-H-W-W-(W)-H, just that minor relative is found by starting from the 6th note of it's Major key to get H-W-H-H-W-H-H C major is C,E,G, C# major, C#,E#,G# C minor is C, Eb, G (in flat key) C# minor is C#, E, G# (in sharp key) So if you know your major keys, just start playing it from the 6th of that key and where it matches in the step formula and you are playing it's relative minor key now.
I was pleased to find that my understanding of the neck is better than I thought when I put this on, but the changing key signatures tip was excellent. I'm in Canada and want that E-Book, I shall make a purchase this week, possibly a fine mug. Thanks for the great lessons. :D

It's all hidden in plane sight. Just play G major starting on the 6th note, which is the H-W-H-H-W-H-H sequence. Now you are playing the relative minor key of GM which is Em. It works that way for every key. It's all repetitive, overlapping formulation, similar to mathematics. Play C major (CM) starting from the 6th note and you are now playing it's relative minor, A minor (Am).
You said your Guitar Handouts Collection 5 will be sent to anybody who makes a donation of $5 or more. When I went to your donations page, the minimum donation was $20. Also, it never mentioned the handout and never asked for me to fill in my address so you would know where to send the booklet. Also, when I went to your products page the handout wasn't listed. How can I buy the handout?

You're simply the best to teach anyone.

it all makes sense and you connect where most people really struggle at .....completly underrated channel...but this will change..
