Friends and acquaintances can wreck your when it is small. Watch time is really important and a lot of friends and family are just being nice and not truly interested in what your channel is about. So they hope on a story , and hope out which wrecks the algorithm. You are right, I would stay quiet until you have a few thousand hits. Good luck on your big move!!!

I didn't tell anyone about my channel until I got 2000 subscribers (now @ 50,000 subs in 1 year) - not only their opinions may influence your actions but also UA-cam's algorithm needs to know who your real audience is (not your family and friends who subscribe but only watch seconds of your video)
Exactly! This was me years ago expecting support and getting discouraged from people that I loved. I was monetized and was having fun without over thinking things. I’m back and in my early 40s. Over thinking and doing it afraid, but not telling anyone this time. Letting God lead the was and trusting him through every process 🙏🏽🫶🏽💕
I'm battling Cancer and the diagnosis in itself can be overwhelming so UA-cam is literally my escape and I LOVE IT!!! 💕 Only persons that know are 3 of my favorites which are my husband, daughter and my sister as I'm leaving an online legacy for even when I'm no longer here my voice will still be heard!!! I agree with this so much. Establish your channel, find your groove, and grow it naturally. It seems that new creators want to share their excitement with their circle (which is understandable) and expect a growth surge of friends and family, but a lot of times it just doesn't play out that way. People will support name brands and celebrities before they'll support friends and family for whatever reasons. And it's important to find your presentation style and what's natural for you without the influence from doubters, naysayers, and people who aren't bought in to what you're trying to do. (The part I struggle with this video is that you're actively driving while recording. Please be safe while driving!)
I totally hear you, I’ve learned from the past to keep new projects to myself and share with loved ones later since I didn’t get the support I initially expected. Also about the driving 😅 I feel thoughts naturally flow when I’m on the road. Thank you for your concern ❤ I’m being careful!
Great video. Just subbed. My experience has been that friends will subscribe, but not necessarily watch. My biggest supporters are those that I don’t know or have met through content creation/collaboration. My advice to everyone is just start. Like you, I wish I had started earlier.
I defo agree with this when first starting out, so you can get get yourself out there with as little resistance as possible. After some time though, you build up resilience to the point that you are strong enough mentally, where it doesn't matter if your friends/family see it (as you can handle their resistance). It's a mindset of "I will post my truth and speak it with full confidence, regardless of who's watching it".
Just a quick comment to let you know you're a natural. Also, don't worry about what your friends and family think (this is easier because you have hubby's support). In fact, let them think you're not serious; you'll show them soon enough!

Hit the nail on the head with this one. Not everyone will be genuinely happy that you’re trying something new to elevate yourself and family. They may be doing it on purpose or subconsciously. Also you can’t physically , mentally, financially help everyone but you can help those who are helping theirselves. Excited to see you and the husb grow! Subbing for more!

I came back to my channel over the summer. I started it in 2017 and I basically abandoned it because life got to lifing. But I made decision to come back and remain consistent. I’m on several other platforms, but YT is my hardest platform as far as growth is concerned. I keep showing up even though I’m a super small channel. I’m grateful for literally any views I get. I’m trying to brand myself. I completely agree with you. I just subscribed ❤

i love to support new content creators, it brings memories on how yt used to be 15 years ago, a wholesome website to share a little bit of our life and passions, with no big companies behind them, just regular people like me, with a lot of creativity and talent .
We started our channel a couple of months ago. We purposefully did not tell our friends and family until this week. We didn’t want to hear it. Surprisingly, however, they ended up being supportive. you sound like me... and by reading the comments others also we are obviously likeminded people, we are not self centered as in hey look at me or boost what i have.. I mainly started documenting our journey since we are approaching soft retirement. and not wanting the regret i should of done this before it's too late or unable too. but you are right sometimes those around you hold back by asking questions which installs fear of stepping into out of the norm to unknown.

I have found most of my family members really don’t care about my UA-cam channel, especially my grown children 😂. My husband is supportive but really doesn’t understand my fascination and the content I post. I enjoy filling my extra time with creating content, now that the kids have left home. My goal was to monetize in 6 months because I have seen channels do it in less time. Getting the watch time is the hardest part, but I’m not giving up😊

I made the mistake of telling people about my channel and it took me years to get over that urge. It's getting to the point where I've debated restarting my channel in secret to compare how my videos do without any outside influence.
So right 🎉it’s scary everything seems gravy when you edit and you look at the videos that you created and you post them and upload them then afterwards you’re like what the hell did I just do lol 😂 self doubt creeps in you worry about what friends and people are going to think about you but after all that I just keep going 😱 but I’m doing it! I'm trying to get back into content creating. I used to have other UA-cam channels that forgot access to, but had lot more views and subscribers on. I did let my friends know and whatever family follows my instagram would know of mine. Though now thinking about some of my ideas for content still debating on doing, might not be best did though kind of don't want to start over again since still building this one up.

I made the mistake of telling people about my channel and it took me years to get over that urge. It's getting to the point where I've debated restarting my channel in secret to compare how my videos do without any outside influence.
I am absolutely agree with you I didn’t tell anyone about my channel because they hurt me to doing my time waste and growing my subscribers originally

I'm trying to get back into content creating. I used to have other UA-cam channels that forgot access to, but had lot more views and subscribers on. I did let my friends know and whatever family follows my instagram would know of mine. Though now thinking about some of my ideas for content still debating on doing, might not be best did though kind of don't want to start over again since still building this one up.
