    1981 Celtics Roster best players
Larry Bird 21.2 points, 10.9 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 2 steals, .08 blocks per game (2nd year player and best on team)
Rober Parish, 18.9 pts, 9.5 rebounds, 2.6 blocks (good player, but not really great, not even a 20 and 10 guy, tho close)
Cedric Maxwell 15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds (role player)
Tiny Achibald 13.8 pts, 7.7 asts (good pg, but at end of his career, role player at this point, tho still a good pg)
Kevin Mchale 10 pts, 4.4 rebs, 1.8 blocks (bench player, good rookie but a role player at this point)
The rest of the team is not worth mentioning. This is HARDLY a SUPER TEAM lol.. so yea.. They had an ok pg, a good center and Larry Bird plus two role players in Maxwell and Mchale.

Yes, that title team had McHale and Parish. What you just blew past was McHale was a rookie and Parish had been with San Diego for three years but was traded for a couple of draft picks. Lebron had to jump to a team that already had all star players on it. You were o.k. until the last 10 seconds.

On That Last Play In Game 7. That Was NOT Meant To Be A 3-Point Shot. It Was Meant To Get It Close Enough To The Rim/Backboard So Dr J Could Put It In. They Only Had 1-Secound So How Time Do You Think He Could Have Had To Passed To One Guy & Then That Guy Having Enough Time To Shoot It?

You don't pay attention obviously when Kevin Mchale talk, this is his rookie season and at that time nobody see Robert Parish as a futur HOF!
So the narrator is actually right!

Also McHale Was a Bench Warmer. This Guy Always Tries To Use That Larry Had A Better Team Around Him. Even In This 1981, ha ha ha. He Just Doesn't Want To Do His Homework. We All Know That Chief & McHale Would Have NEVER Became HOF If It wasn't For Larry Teaching & Helping Them To Get There. Who In The F*ck Did LeFlop OR Jordan Help In They're First 5-Years, No One But Themselves. Larry Was The Best TEAM Leader & Was Like Their Teacher & Coach On The Floor. He Had So Much Patience For Them Because He Believed In Winning As A Team. In Fact McHale Didn't Become A Starter Until 1986. He Did Move Up From Bench Player To 6th Man After A Couple Of Years & Then Starter. This Guy Is Just Blind To How Real BB Was & Should Be Played Like Again.

TBH, I don't think you were sincere when you asked who Lebron had at the start of his career that was better than Kevin McHale (based on all the snickering and what not); but, imma give you the benefit of the doubt and answer your question anyway.
Who did Lebron have that was better than Kevin McHale at this time? Pretty much every rotation player on his team.
McHale was a very good college player, but needed development time when he came to the NBA. This was his rookie year. In this conference finals against the sixers, Kevin McHale averaged: 9 ppg, 3.4 rbd, 1.1ast, 1.1 blk, 0.4 stls
Robert Parish had been the top draft pick of the Warriors, but, in the 4 years he had played with them he hadn't performed to expectations and was on the brink of quitting basketball entirely, when he got traded to the Celtics. This was his first year with the team. Robert Parrish eventually became the top rebounder in Celtics recorded history, a title he still holds today. But, in his first 3 years with the Celtics (which included this one), Larry Bird out-rebounded him because that's what Larry's team needed him to do. In this conference finals against the sixers Robert Parish averaged: 13.9 ppg, 1.1 ast, 2.3 blks, 1.1 stl.
None of Larry's teammates were yet in their primes (not even Larry). Meanwhile, Sixers Dr J was that years MVP, he made all NBA first team, and Sixers Bobby Jones and Caldwell Jones were both All Defense first team.
As for Jordan, he came onto an awful team with a 27-55 record. He helped them improve their record by 11 games to a 38-44 record. His best scoring teammate that season was Orlando Woolridge who averaged 22.9 ppg.
Larry Bird came onto a team that was almost as bad with a 29-53 record. He helped them improve by 32 games. His best scoring teammate was Cedirc Maxwell who averaged 16.9 ppg, not nearly as good as Jordan's Orlando Woolridge. In fact, Larry Bird didn't have a teammate averaging 20 points or better until his 7th year in the league, but he led them to 2 Championships during that time anyway.
I realize that facts don't matter any more and people will say Larry had a stacked team his whole career because that's the narrative that fits the agenda. But, saying it doesn't make it true. (Maybe they're confusing him with Magic. lol)

      @ToddandRaquiForrest Місяць тому +1

This is all true. All well researched. All facts. If Bird would have joined Orlando Woolridge, Woolridge would be know as an all-time great today, and they probably would have won a championship Bird's rookie season.

If Kevin McHale was with LeBron in his first stint with Cleveland, he would've easily been the 2nd best player on the team. Plus, me saying Larry having a stacked team for most of his career isn't a shot to disregard Larry Bird greatness. I was just emphasizing how his situation was different from LeBron and MJ early in their careers.

@@JayHemmsSports Bid didn't collude with other players. His Celtic teams were organically created. He didn't create super teams. He remained with the name team that drafted him. In his rookie year, he took a 29 win team into a 61 win team. Without Parish, McHale, DJ, or Walton.

    • @aramhamparian9641

True. Bird's team grew organically. Not with collusion.

That was a bad pass at the end of regulation to close out the series, but you must have not noticed the amount of BALL PRESSURE Larry Bird was APPLYING to Bobby Jones (I think that was Jones).. Likewise we have all seen lebron flop with the last play to END a series himself (a year ago?).. and even bird threw crazy inbound passes that led to nowhere.. NOONE is perfect right?

The celtics were the 1st seed, the 76ers the 3rd seed. but remember, Jordan's bulls teams werent ALWAYS the first seed, sometimes the Knicks had a better record. Actually one time the Knicks went up 2-0 at home (knicks were first seed) vs the bulls in the 1993 playoffs. Bulls were still the favorites over the Knicks. Suns also had a better recored that year (bulls won like 57 games in 93, both Knicks and Suns won over 60 games) and yet the Bulls were STILL the favorites to win a three peat. That Celtics team, despite having a better record and home court, STILL lost to that 6ers team the year before and were underdogs vs Philly (Bird aint win shyt yet at that point in his career)

I like that you said the 2017 series was the best YOU HAVE EVER SEEN IN YOUR LIFE.. but since IVE lived for 45 YEARS, and watched basketball for almost 40 years.......... I have a different perspective. just like guys whom are 60 will say different than me and I cant argue with them cuz i WASNT there. was Jordan and Bird (my GOATS) BETTER than WILT and OSCAR Robertson? I dont know. Bird and especially jordan flew charter planes to games no? maybe buses i guess? but lets not compare how EASY life was in the 80s and 90s compared to the 60s or 50s.. those guys had no training facilities, no adequate foot wear, STRICTNBA rules, ignorant ideas on nutrition and weight training, salary that REQUIRED AN OFF SEASON JOB to SUPPORT their families.. Would Jordan and Bird be AS great under THOSE conditions? Maybe Bird, but Jordan? Maybe.. would Lebron and TODAYS ATHLETES be AS good under THOSE circumstances? forget social media, they barely had HOUSE PHONES. and even in the 90s an ACL injury was a career death sentence.. we are comparing CODDLED athletes to athletes that BLED and BROKE BONES AND STILL PLAYED THE GAME to the bitter END.. incredible.

I Thought You Almost Had It Figured Out, ha ha ha But Nope. The Celtic's Did Not Win The First 2 At Their Home Games, They Only Won 1-Of Those 2 Home Games. Then They Lost The Next 2 In Philly's Home Court So That Made Them Down 3-Games. Then Went To Celtics Home In Game 5 & Won Making It 2 To 3 To Philly. Guess What They Had To Win Game 6 Or Just Like How Important It Was To Win Game 5, If They Didn't It Was Over.

  • @gailshepard-cook6350

I Had To Pause This Because I Can't Believe What I'm Hearing, ha ha ha. Yea If A Team Is Down By 3-Games, Well Du Yea They Sure Do Have To Win Game 5, Because There Will Be NO Game 6. I'm Not Sure If You Understand The Math, Here I'll Help You, 3 + 1=4. In A 7-Games Series The First To Get 4-Games Is The Winner. ha ha ha. But Yes Game 5 Is Important If Both Teams Or Tied With 2 Each. In This Game It Was 1 & 3, So Yes Game 5 Had To Be Won By The Team With Just 1-Win. They Also Had To Win Game 5, Game 6 & For The Big Win They Had To Win Games 7. I Get It Your Mixing Two Different Kinds Of Importance On Game 5. ha ha ha
