I saw a post yesterday that said, “Being good at your job often attracts more work. It’s called ‘performance punishment…’ Overworking your high performers to avoid growing your under performers is a fast track to disaster. It breeds resentment. Good people will leave, and poor performers will not learn.”
Sounds like my job 🤦🏽♀️ I've been working two peoples job, mine and an open position since the beginning of March. I have a great boss and work for a great company but I'm so unhappy with what I do. And the money is good 😩 I want to quit so bad!! People think I'm crazy for wanting to quit.
A job honestly doesn’t gives you the time, space and opportunity to chase your dreams and achieve your goals. From personal experience i can tell you working a serious job is modern day slavery. they pay you a small amount for doing a significant amount of work and promises you promotion. Best advice make investments and take calculated risks that would guarantee your success.
This is really not as difficult as many people presume it to be. It requires a certain level of diligence, no doubt, which is something ordinary investors lack, and so a financial advisor often comes in very handy. That is how people are able to make such huge profits in the market.
The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment
I have worked with a few financial advisors before now but i ultimately settled for 'Annette Christine Conte'. She is SEC regulated and licensed in US. You can easily look her up
I am going to look her up, I have about $81k i want to start with, might be small but it's better than nothing though. Since the 08 crash is playing out again.
That 'oh crap what did I get myself into' feeling at a new job is the worst. Thankfully they made me finally go for it. I started a business 15 months ago and although the money isn't consistent I'm happier than I've ever been.
I wanna do this but ive been stuck in the job for over two years. Im misarable but cant leave due too mental health issues and such. I wanna go too school for business but feel incredibly incapable right now of anything.
@@dakotawells1727 I know it's hard but don't ever give up. You have options. Don't forget that imperfect action is better than perfect inaction. That being said I'm 48 years old and spent over a decade at a job I didn't care for. One day I said F it and never looked back.
I agree with this completely! Exactly how I viewed my last job, as a relationship. It was the greatest thing when it started, but like a failing relationship that you're fighting to hold onto, I just got tired of how it was making me feel, reminding me of my past mistakes, feeling like an idiot everyday, plus I just downright hated my last supervisor lol!!! I hated having to look at that person, everyday. When I got let go, I wasn't depressed in the slightest, I went home, smoked a cigarette, cooked and ate a whole Totino's pizza to myself, and went right back to bed! Just like a terrible toxic relationship, I was happy to be released, and vice versa, I'm sure!
Smoking added nothing to this experience. It’s an addiction reinforced by a habit. I continue to be amazed by how smokers think it’s a character trait or some form of accomplishment. “I smoked a cigarette.” Why? If you had written that you injected heroin into your arm we’d all recoil at such a horrible coping mechanism.
Michael_M ok, I think you missed the point. Relax, I don’t smoke, anymore. It was just a phase I had picked up for a few months. I was only smoking three cigarettes a night, and I quit.
I recently left my job because, although I voiced myself and got the support I needed, my teammate did minimal work while I did the maximum. I was tired and knew this would never work in the long run.
Yep. And when you finally find that one that's going nicely, they (the bosses) up and change something in your working day out of the blue that wasn't in the contract or the advert, didn't get mentioned in the interview, and they know you don't want to do it but they're going to make it look like it's good for you somehow, with the "We don't want to cut your hours" spin, or something. It just ruins everything.
Yes. And even more messed up, is that because your coworker won't pull their weight on anything, you actually get more ENTRY LEVEL WORK than they do, because nothing ever advances around a person that gets away with doing less than the bare minimum. So all that responsibility you inherit is all the simple foundational tasks that need to be done every day anyway, not the kind of work that will advance you to the top of your field.
@@sinovuyomtyenene5433Yes! I am currently in a new role/company after an acquisition and the expectations are unrealistic and unfair. The morale is low and seems only to be getting worse with the lack of real training and terrible guidance from leadership.
I understand getting pissed when you is trying to teach someone who dont want to learn. But if the person do want to learn, you are just being a asshole
Working a job is the most unnatural thing a human could do regularly, you might be happy for a time but eventually all jobs suck; because we're not meant to work a job 8,9 or 12 hours a day. We've accepted this as the norm but it's not normal at all.
But it's really a matter of whether we have a choice or not. I don't like depending on others because in my experience they take advantage of you when u need them financially.
YES. Here in the UK, I resent a job taking 37 hours out of my week, with a manager who is a shit leader, having to deal with incompetence and ineptitude and clean up shit because of it. People say "ohh that's just the way it is". I DON'T CARE. It's not normal to be working from 0900 to 1730 AND have to deal with commuter shit on top, five frigging days a week!
Putting in my two. The first one is the reason. I'm the only one who does the backbone work while my staff is toxic. Your body is your #1 asset 🥇 if it's not good, you're not going anywhere. If you think your health is in jeopardy, quit.
I'm 55 yrs old and here's my 2 cents. Once you have the feeling your boss has soured on you, go home that night start looking for a job. Don't wait for your schitty boss to get fired. GTFO as soon as you can.
I'm not letting any person make me quit my job...if they have a problem..oh well...if they want a fight...professionally of course....they can have one....im.taking shit TO THE TOP...lol..now if I was messing up..that's different...but I'm mature enough to know when I'm not doing my best...so.thats my 2 cents...no one is moving me until i want too..people always just think..oh just quit .just find something else....well guess what there are shitty bosses and coworkers EVVVVVAAARRYYYWHERE!!!...so good luck bouncing around..instead of confronting the issues
@norton wayne I'm in the same boat wayne. You get to 50 and companies view you as old, paid too much, too much vacation time and more chance of missing work due to illness. Sometimes you are a victim of companies moving operations too. Don't take it personally and don't let them get you down. Keep your headup and keep charging. All of us in the same boat need to.
So true. If youre not being loved by your employer, or even worse, you're heing abused or degraded or gaslighted, then it's def time to get out of that toxic relationship.
This is literally happening to me right now & it’s only the first week of me being there. I have gotten gaslit, disrespected, and have had things snatched from me in front of customers. Then a chuckle after to try and make the situation light, when in reality it isn’t. Every day I’ve worked for this person, I have went home with a migraine. It hasn’t even been a full week y’all. I cried yesterday because I give my all & still get the worst. It sucks.
@@shutupnvibe you should really search for a new job 😢❤ and then write review on your current jobb with critiques and tell them how they mistreated you. Also warn others 🙏🌟
@@jolinsundgren thank you. I’ve built up the courage to quit a few days ago. hopefully my (now) former boss doesn’t try to withhold my pay for last week (since pay was bi-weekly).
Employers expect loyalty from most of us but when things get tough, they'll let you go in the name of "bottom line is cost". There are some good workplaces but they're almost the exception rather than the rule.
After 15 years in the financial service sector I have been fired once because of cost reductions, got my team restructured twice and have seen almost every kind of bad, sub-optimal as well as some good working environments. In my experience great bosses don't last, some MD or CEO comes along every 3-4 years and decides to wipe out a bunch of people to justify their bonus and you are left to pick up the pieces. I don't feel loyalty to my employer, at best to some of my co-workers, so I think working in these places is basically very similar to prostitution, I sell my services to bidders, do stuff I often don't enjoy to save up money. I can assure you most people in finance feel the same. They should worn graduates, you'll get to 40 with savings and a nice house, but you'll have spent the best years of your life doing tedious work, in many cases managed by toxic bosses, you will also have back/neck problems from all the sitting at a computer cringing your fists, and sleepless nights before client meetings with people you dislike, ah I forget you will get stuck in some of the most overcrowded and expensive cities in the world (London, Paris, NY, Milan, Frankfurt) that you will only manage to escape from during your holidays. I come from a small town in the country side and a humble family, love the outdoors, so I plan to get out of this racket next year and I am working on pulling this off from a financial perspective. Life is too short.
Key words “TOXIC AS HELL!!!!” I just quit a job for THIS very reason. The nurse manager and one of the charge nurse are bonafide narcissists. Just not worth it! Not worth my energy, my sanity or my health. I believe I deserve better and patients do too. I just hope they get it.
Sometimes your manager sees you as too strong,or too experienced. They then try to discredit you to get you to leave. Sometimes it doesnt matter how good you are at you job, emoloyers want you to be a cheerleader for the company, owners want you to feel the same way they do for the company they own. They have unrealistic exspectations, its thier dream but your job.
People who tell others to just quit are completely unaware of the stress and problems that creates. They’ve made a list of the most stressful events in a person’s life and changing jobs is one of those things. I can’t take anyone seriously if they tell others to just quit their jobs. If it was easy to find another job that sustains your life then we’d all be doing it more often.
Yes, I'm in the same boat. Everyone just telling me "stop complaining, if work is hell, just quit!"... As if it were that easy! Finding a new job is no easy task, takes time + you may end up in the same situation as your current job, if the job type is the problem (as in my case). Switching to different type of work, especially if you're middle ages (like me) is hard, since you often have to start lower/take a (big) pay cut... Sigh... What we really need is to be taught how to stop giving a sh*t - cuz whether it's quitting and finding a new job, or staying a toughing it out, it's all so bloody stressful, making my insomnia worse, which is affecting my mental + physical health!
It depends on how bad it is. If a person is considering hurting themselves or it’s so bad that they are essentially in an abusive relationship but with their employer they need to leave. Being depressed everyday and fearful of going into work is not normal. It’s Stockholm syndrome and rationalizing staying in a situation you know isn’t right. There are other jobs.
@@lotstosay6359 True, you should not risk your health. But many older people think we can just walk off of a bad job, and literally physically walk into a new building and tell them “Mr. Boss, Sir, I’m your guy!” and get a new job with nothing but “gumption and a nickel in my pocket!”
@@lotstosay6359this is exactly what I did. I was getting swollen lymph nodes from the stress. So I said enough is enough. EDITED to add that I did not consider harming myself. I just knew that the place was a toxic cesspool.
I left even though i knew I really shouldn't. 16 years, I couldnt stand the place. Management and some co workers were so toxic. Micromanage, gaslighting, retaliation, ethics violations, etc. Plus, the long hours of work was physically hard on the body and mentally draining repetitive task. We never knew what time we were leaving for the day. They called it " open-ended ", meaning we couldn't leave till the work was done or management says so. Didn't know if you would be home for dinner or have time to run errands. Thank God I left. I had no job lined up but i was close to a nervous breakdown from the stress. I dont regret leaving one bit.
Most jobs are like marriages that don’t work out. It’s like your life has to revolve around your job. Have to drive far out for them. They take up all your time. At the end of the day/week you feel so drained. Usually results in seeking another relationship with someone new that feels better.
This doesn't connect with how CEOs frequently skip from one company to the next every 3 to 5 years on average. It shows the most financially successful and most powerful laugh in the face of loyalty and commitment: they are driven to succeed above all else. It's not a relationship it's a step towards their next position. Like a sociopath.
Yeah but the great thing about dating is you can stop doing it if it sucks and you have bad luck you can't stop working most likely so it's not exactly the same.
I just saw this video today. I never thought about a job as a relationship. At work I go above and beyond. I go to work every day and I'm always on time. I'm always doing my job and filling in to do the work the Supervisor doesn't want to do. However my Supervisor is higher management's favorite and the Supervisor knows this. The Supervisor does minimal work and complains constantly about me and gives me the silent treatment. Plus the Supervisor gives me nasty attitude. Higher Management who is never watching due to being in meetings all day, believes there friend the Supervisor. This Supervisor has caused a toxic work environment. I'm not understanding why workers need to cause problems and chaos in the workplace. Workers are at least 8 hours in the office so why not make the best of it. Every day I'm physically and mentally drained. I'm looking for another job where I will be appreciated and hopefully have better coworkers. 🤞
They must be a bully then and probably jellous of you 😢 I would try and do your part and keep notes/ screenshots on what they have done. Also try finding a new job. ❤
Here is the problem as a worker you shouldnt have to check in and see how you're doing, Its up to the persons in charge to be able to identify if youre doing great or not, alot of the time those in charge are to busy or in some cases to stupid to see youre real worth, if thats the case its best to dump them and move on....
This helped frame things in my head differently. Several years ago (after having worked 16 years on the 4x12 shift) I started a very good job on that same shift but they switched me to the midnight shift. I tried to fight it through the union but couldn’t win . I worked it for a year and finally collapsed from it. I suffered from “ shift work disorder” and it made me ill. I quit and lost good money and status. I mourned over that lose for years . This video helped me see how it was like being in a relationship with an evil person.
Same. In pain most of the time. Had to go on medication cause the place was so toxic. I developed depression and anxiety. My body hurt all the time. Even as I left, the damage was done. Dealing with neuropathy, degenerative disk, muscle and joint pain that never goes away. The job messed me up and now I'm paying for it. I should've left my third years into the job cause that's when all the repetitive stress injuries began. They pushed us beyond our work limits and gaslighted all the time. So glad I left. Still dealing with the horrors of that job and it's been 2 year out.

You need to determine whether you're INTERESTED or COMMITTED. If you're interested, you'll do what is easy and comfortable, if you're committed, you'll do WHATEVER IT TAKES! :)
Even if that means losing sleep, losing work life balance, losing spare time for R&R, losing the opportunity to be causal and always rushing everything from breakfast to dinner no chill, losing freedom and peace in replace of stressful hurt locker, losing peace of mind and always worrying about work first and last minute of the day, above all losing time with your family. I am a freelancer and I love my job but the pressure and the work environment I hate…my colleagues are almost all senior and I feel so uncomfortable around them. They seem to have everything figured out and they point that out to me, so sometimes i feel very unexperienced. Ugh.
This is me too. It would have been okay if they are more understanding... but they act as if they have mastered their job a week after they are hired. They lack patience...
Most jobs don't treat workers with respect or dignity because the company is always looking out for their bottom line. Therefore the entire argumenyt/metaphor here fails to acknowledge the reality of more than half of the American workforce.
Vega North, and the bottom line being most workers get treated like crap these days, put up with way too much abuse, are fearful to say anything to these slave labor behemoths and are fired at will for any reason. These corporations, mainly underpay, hire workers who are poor or disadvantaged and become million and billion $ profiting entities with too much power. It’s been our busy season this month and I haven’t gotten trained only for maybe the first month I started. After that I don’t get to learn how to do my actual job. I basically do bitch work for the more senior leadership (my peers). I have been laughed and yelled albu the crew for not knowing what Iam doing. I get talked down to if I ask them to do something that was passed down to me by other leadership. It really has caused me such anxiety going into work. Boy, did this come at the right time, Mel. I turned just turned in my two weeks' notice on Monday and my boss didn't see it coming. I kept asking for a raise for months and felt like they were empty promises. Tuesday, silent treatment. Today, my boss finally wanted to talk. She was completely confused and blindsided by why I would walk away. She admitted she failed to communicate with me that this whole time she was vying to get me a raise, but didn't have the power from her higher ups. She never communicated that to me until I had had enough. We were also friends before she moved up and so she knew what struggle I was going through because she had been there, too. It was a heart to heart talk because there was confusion, frustration, and disappointment for both parties and my boss really doesn't want me to leave. The ball is in my court now and I don't know what to do because the raise I was getting was already in the motion this week. Hearing you talk about jobs being a relationship made so much sense to me. It's all about reciprocity and communication. I love this, Mel. Thank you.
Well...don't expect your colleague to understand your situation once they got promoted, I have noticed this, the moment a person gotten a position, there will be a character changed as they have to defend the position somewhat. Amazing information. I'm at a job in which many of my coworkers do as little as they can. The communication on behalf of the management is is horribly dysfunctional. As a result clients are often so angry that problems are not resolved it continually falls on employees that do not have the tools and information to help in fixing the issue's.
For me its the opposite: I love my supervisor and teammates but the workload itself is WAY too much. In our roles we are expected to be call center reps, medical billers and also complete caseloads of 50-100 cases each day. The problem is there's no other jobs available near me and none I'm qualified for. But I'm really starting to hate my life. I'm trapped.
Managers don’t treat high performers the way they should be treated. They value politics and favor people with more social skills, instead of the high performer delivering meaningful work
I've been doing a job for past 7 months this is my first professional job after my graduation . The manager is super rude some time like shouting at us and sometimes so chill that he'll treat us with good food I feel like he has some mental issue but whenever he misbehave we have to endure it and I think my boiling point is reaching . Plus the work load is kinda issue there are multiple things going in parallel I feel like I need to quit and find a better suitable job . Please someone guide as I'm going to put my resignation tomorrow plus the salary is super low too like even lower than the min government wage standards .
He got mental problems get out before it's too late he gaslighting you by being nice one day and mean another it's a form of manipulation. Only little baby's bring home life to work you need a babysitter for him and a real job.
The best thing to do is resign. The mental abuse will weigh on your mind and debilitate you. It's not worth it. Mine was a complete turn off and I could not stand to see him breathe so I left 🎉
I need a break and most likely will be calling it quits. I’m showing up and showing out. I’m getting more pay just more work load. It’s mentally and physically draining 😭
I actually enjoy my work, my coworkers are awesome, the environment is nice and safe, the hours are good, the schedule is great. However the absolute worst thing that I hate about my job is the clientele!! Oh my, God, do I just want to punch the snobbishness and entitlement out of them. Now, of course majority of customers are nice, but like 40% of the people I deal with have some of the most stuck up attitudes I have ever dealt with. I’m convinced that people are genuinely never happy, it sucks cause those 40% people tend to REALLY bring down my day. I come home and I literally lay on my bed for a few hours JUST to decompress from all that negativity. I’ve been with this company for a few years and it’s always the same, the people just get to me. I don’t understand how people can look down on other human beings like that. Anyway, I am legitimately laying in bed rn contemplating whether I should quit or not and I keep going back and fourth.
“You date your job” … well my “relationship” was filled with tons of gaslighting, lies, and manipulation… quite literally like my actual first relationship 😂😅
It sucks enjoying what you get to do for work but the environment and culture is so toxic and abusive that you no longer have a passion for what you do
This is a little idealistic - in tech a lot of the jobs are fundamentally flawed to begin with. The only job that I see myself succeeding and being happy for any period of time is self employment.
Try 7am -7:10 pm in a loud dirty factory with no benefits. Yes they make you stand in line an extra ten minutes to clock out, after working 12 hours. Coming back so physically exhausted you can only eat, then sleep. People talking about 9-5? This is reality for alot of American factory's with temp workers. Finally hurt my foot badly from overuse and quit.

Could you kindly elaborate on the advisor's background and qualifications?
I have worked with a few financial advisors before now but i ultimately settled for 'Annette Christine Conte'. She is SEC regulated and licensed in US. You can easily look her up
I am going to look her up, I have about $81k i want to start with, might be small but it's better than nothing though. Since the 08 crash is playing out again.
That 'oh crap what did I get myself into' feeling at a new job is the worst. Thankfully they made me finally go for it. I started a business 15 months ago and although the money isn't consistent I'm happier than I've ever been.
God bless ❤
Keep going, keep pushing and keep evolving.
This is where I am at currently. I am happy to know that you are finding success!
Totally jumped on your own issue with smoking there and missed the point
God damn busted out the totinos? You’re a beast. Hope you’re doing well brother!
@@remlyai went home. Shot some heroin. Ate a totinos pizza. Went to bed. And dreamed. I was. The pizza.
I recently left my job because, although I voiced myself and got the support I needed, my teammate did minimal work while I did the maximum. I was tired and knew this would never work in the long run.
I worked a two person Job as just one person before it was rough, Glad I quit
You get punished for being good at your job by being given more responsibility, because your co-worker won't pull their weight. It's the truth!
Yep
And they get the pay raise and promotion
And boy is it great. I do my best to not do my best. It's not worth the pay.

Working a job is the most unnatural thing a human could do regularly, you might be happy for a time but eventually all jobs suck; because we're not meant to work a job 8,9 or 12 hours a day. We've accepted this as the norm but it's not normal at all.
1000٪ agree!! It sucks the life force out of you...this is NOT how we are meant to live!!
Totally agree. We are only designed for 3-5 hours of truly focused work per day. The rest should be for living life.
If only shelter isn't so darn expensive
In the beginning you cannot be expected to know everything. That’s so true.
My boss is a bitch, she interferes in everything I do and doesn't let me do my work. I am now searching for another job.
I'm not letting any person make me quit my job...if they have a problem..oh well...if they want a fight...professionally of course....they can have one....im.taking shit TO THE TOP...lol..now if I was messing up..that's different...but I'm mature enough to know when I'm not doing my best...so.thats my 2 cents...no one is moving me until i want too..people always just think..oh just quit

@@ktee2313 I love your fighter instinct, but my 2 issues were with companies moving operations so there was no fight to fight.

Because they suck up well to management very well 👍
You know it's time to leave when you hypothetically wish you'd get fired or made redundant. I.E. any excuse not to go in.
my job has been having layoffs and a part of me lowkey wished I was one of them yikes lol
Upper management give us crappy training and expect us to know stuff they never taught us. The communication sucks

Wow you said a mouthful! All true!

I just resigned from my job. Going self employed as of now 😅💪🏼
How is it working out so far?
I’m on my way 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Most jobs are like marriages that don’t work out. It’s like your life has to revolve around your job. Have to drive far out for them. They take up all your time. At the end of the day/week you feel so drained. Usually results in seeking another relationship with someone new that feels better.
It shouldn't have to be compared to a marriage at all. It's a f*cking job. It should not be a part of anyone's identity or major commitment.
The truth!
That's too bad. My wife and I suffer together and get each other through our shite jobs. That's love. We embrace the suck and get through it.
We should all go back and implement som old ways like living on a farm with family 😢 but also working with animals and nature makes us feel at home ❤
I love the idea of your job being like dating. It gives work a whole new context.
Here is the problem as a worker you shouldnt have to check in and see how you're doing, Its up to the persons in charge to be able to identify if youre doing great or not, alot of the time those in charge are to busy or in some cases to stupid to see youre real worth, if thats the case its best to dump them and move on....
i like this, it is what it is :)

You might just be at that point where you are ready to be saved from all this. Put your trust in him and not in your dollar.
@@ohnobo14that same Jesus created evil as well, read your bible.
@@Dzanarika1 where does it say that? The Bible says God allowed evil to come into the world through Man because of Mans choices. Calamity disaster and death are because of sin, which we chose rather than being close to God.
This doesn't just happened to you when you are young. It can happen at any timeit's taken me 18 months to find my tribe after moving to the city. Don't give up!
My worst nightmare is a desk job from 9 to 5.
Not bad enough, it's 9-5 on paper but actually 9 - 9 or 8am - 1am and you also work on weekends, vacations, and holidays
rather have that then working physically
@@stock7628 nah working physically from my experience for even 9-9 becomes bearable over time as you get stronger
Taking a rest day or two also helps you recover from physical fatigue
Taking a rest or day or two doesn't help you recover from mental fatigue, mental fatigue just fks up everything
Having to actively think about the future days, weeks, and months as part of your responsibility for your job just fucks up the present so bad
Physical jobs from my experience only focus on the present, so when you clock out whenever you do you're also no longer stressing over it until you're in the workplace again
If you're looking at IT memes, should definitely look into a very based outlook videos on IT and even just a basic internet search will tell you how easy it is to burn out
Look at the Microsoft issue that fked up every1 globally, the guy who fucked that up is in shambles right now dude, you can't fk up like that with physical labor
Yes, it upon me to leave.
But everyone, including my gut, says stay until you find a good job!
In the mean time, I try to grow by exploring my thinking and mental boundaries! Easier said than done but what’s the alternative!? I’m open, appreciate any advice!
@Den Well good advice effective it's hard to follow.
Thank you.
She's lying to you. Go to your new job and don't look back.
Well...don't expect your colleague to understand your situation once they got promoted, I have noticed this, the moment a person gotten a position, there will be a character changed as they have to defend the position somewhat. I'm glad you're strong enough to walk out and I hope that you'll gonna have a better job. Do envision that it is coming to you. I pray only good things coming to you. May God bless you.
@@georgejetson9801
Yep, 100% agree
She's lying
It's 2 years later. Need an update to what happened.
I started a new role a couple of months ago. When the supervisor met with me to see how everything was going i said i wanted to interview for a different role bc it would be a better fit. Today was told that i didn’t get the role i interviewed for as well as them telling me they were going to proceed with an exit strategy. That they said things that were not true during the meeting. Even though i wasn’t happy with the role, training, and their disorganization. For some reason i still feel bad that they handled this so wrong and forced me to resign. I was going to resign this week anyway due to the fact that i got a position at a different company. But for some reason the rejection at my current company and the lies told during the meeting still bother me. But it was definitely time to part ways.
A win is a win, you got another job and will soon put all that behind you. All the best with the new opportunity❤
@@simbomaphanga4402thank you
"You date your job." - Wow this really changed how I think about my career direction.
this is so interesting. I'd never thought of a job as being emotionally unavailable for me before. There are definitely parallels to my dating life! Hmmm!
You dont just date your company....you are dating every single coworker there. And some of them suck so much that it can ruin the whole relationship.
This right here is my problem. The job is fine, even the supervisors are ok, it's the COLLEAGUES who suck and make work life miserable. It's why I'm looking into jobs where I can work autonomously and not have to do the "teamwork", "collaboration", "we're a family" bull$#!t with all these lazy, gossipy, incompetent people.
@@felicityfortuna same! I got noise canceling headphones with hopes that people will get the hint and leave me alone. They can't fire me for doing a great job...even though I don't want to be anybody's friend.
Totally agree with this apart from if you're not a 'career' person and you work part time and you have your passion in other areas of your life. Not everyone lives for their job in which case you're more like friendly acquaintances with your place of work 😂
That's a huge challenge for people who have to work to support a family unless highly qualified Who can afford to pick and choose??
So true. I broke out in hives once. I was miserable but no matter what happened I needed a job. It wasn't the best paying but it was more than minimum wage.
@@bonniedavis9076 Meanwhile you can keep looking for a better job, consider the current one as a bridge and keep searching until you find what feels right. Wishing you the very best
EXACTLY!! This is an incredible insight to this.
Im feeling this right now. Decided to go out for a higher paid position at my current job. Got the job and still stuck working in my old position while trying to train in my new position. Now they hired someone under me that I have to train as well. I like working for the company, but some of the decisions management makes don't make sense. Now I'm struggling in my new position because the individual who was supposed to train me quit.
Hi Mel can you make a video on how to love yourself and develop confidence.
Listen to your Body and Mental State!
I just joined a restaurant and the senior staff like to shout at me because I’m new in front of other calleagues or customers. This person isn’t even a supervisor or manager. And busy time everything is such a mess and everyone (except me) start their moody syndrome. Hence, I’m going to resign from this job and will speak to my manager soon. It’s a pity because the customers are so nice and the pay is pretty high but sadly what a toxic work environment.
I’m 59 years old. Started working for the county 2.5 years ago. Loved the first 2 years and the last six months they have moved me twice. First time they plucked me out of my job that I happy in and the second time I asked to be transferred back to the job they took me from but they didn’t. They did transfer me, but not to the back to the job. I wanted to the job I left. I have to start another new one. I can’t stand it I hate Monday’s come and I start worrying about it on Saturday night 59 years old. I feel like I can’t start overover so many times
I love my job, I get along with my boss, and I'm very good at what I do. But it's a retail job with no benefits and I'm barely making ends meet. 😭 I'm so sad about having to look for a different job, and I feel so guilty about it.
Being told to put my fxxxing work boots 👢 back on. 5mininutes before clocking off, was the final straw for me 😕
Talk about it, Mel. Talk. About. It!
yes we are in a relationship everywhere we go even with ourselfs
Amazing information.
I'm at a job in which many of my coworkers do as little as they can.
The communication on behalf of the management is is horribly dysfunctional.
As a result clients are often so angry that problems are not resolved it continually falls on employees that do not have the tools and information to help in fixing the issue's.
For me its the opposite: I love my supervisor and teammates but the workload itself is WAY too much. In our roles we are expected to be call center reps, medical billers and also complete caseloads of 50-100 cases each day. I definitely had the feeling day 1 of training asking, "What the hell did I get myself into?"
Suffice it to say, I am giving myself 3 months and am actively searching for another job. I love myself more than this paycheck and I'm looking forward to the relief I'll feel after quitting this mistake.
I'm in IT and I think I'm in the exact same boat
I have nothing against my team but the work load is plain un-ethical and also am planning to quit and give myself 3 months to not only find a new job, but to simply breathe 😩
I hope things worked out for you since it's been 4 months
I was made redundant yesterday.
Ive been there 15 years and in 3 months I’m out with no car, job and can’t afford the mortgage.
3 months after that my savings will be gone and to top it off I have no qualifications.
I’ll never get a job that pays enough again.
Ready to just end it all
Please seek help. There's work out there. Take anything you can and keep applying. You got this!
Am planning or resigning from my horrible job soon. Life worth so much more
You could end it all, but then those who did you wrong, won. Don’t let them win
Get some temp work and work on your resume.
Spruce up that resume and send them out all day, every day and most of the night.
Where can we watch The Mel Robbins Show (from Australia). I saw the first on this channel but can't seem to access any more :( thanks
i like my job but i alway worry about it when i go home, did i forgot somthing did i do a good job,...
Even the mic is inspired - it’s shook😅
Where jobs are scarce you can't just quit your job. Perseverance, adjusting where possible is essential. Nobody talks about resilience which is grown by weathering tough seasons.
I just started my new job two weeks ago. But for me it's not a good fit. I've worked in this industry before but I feel that I have outgrown it and I have no passion for the job whatsoever. It's in customer service but I just can't do customer service anymore.
There’s also organizations that don’t have their shit together so they are burning you out and eventually you just have to say “they get this much of my time and no more” you “show up” as best as you can but due to the situation you still aren’t producing your highest quality of work (but that’s not your fault) and the organization still isn’t getting their shit together.
I hate my job so much. I've been there for nearly two years and it's been the worst years of my life. I've started having panic attacks and consistent headaches. I had a week holiday and felt do much better until the last day and a headache started as soon as I thought of my job. The problem is there's no other jobs available near me and none I'm qualified for. But I'm really starting to hate my life. I'm trapped.
I should have broken up with my job a LONG time ago, but I stayed for 20 years, and then they shut their doors. Yeay.
@Den Well ugh that sucks. It wouldn’t happen to be Sandoz, would it?
Am sorry ma. Some of us don't have the option to jut quit.
Thank you, Mel.
it's a "back and forth" got me
love, love, love the advice you gave her Mel! 🙌🙌
I am not working. I am retired. I worked 30 years in a job I didn't like. Now I am doing what I want.
Mel Robbins-you are a queen 😍
Managers don’t treat high performers the way they should be treated. They value politics and favor people with more social skills, instead of the high performer delivering meaningful work
Oh yes, how true this is!
Im tired of pouring my heart into work just to be rejected over something that doesn’t even matter
❤❤❤ This! Please make more videos about this. I love your advice
I hate my job , I just wanna quit, I can’t bear the stress level. If I quit then I’ll be jobless
Find another job. Update your resume
@@pinkfuture8275 I finally quit! I’m in search for other jobs now
“You date your job” … well my “relationship” was filled with tons of gaslighting, lies, and manipulation… quite literally like my actual first relationship 😂😅
My brother said the smartest thing, they are like Sharks circling you in the water. They never do anything alone.
Help!!! Every job I get it's the same thing.
What if you work for a narc ?
