This sounds like being in a relationship with a narcissist, they always prey on empaths. I love his use of the word sycophants....a perfect word, in my opinion, to describe love bombing. He describes never feeling like enough.....octopusing himself just to be seen. Heartbreaking. I love how art provokes so many different interpretations. Bravo. Thanks for being so brave.

Precious Daigh I don’t think her intent was associating narcissism with polyamory in any way, it was just her interpretation of the meaning of the song. For the meaning of the song changes each time I listen, or depending on what mood I’m in, like most great songs.
Precious Daigh I get it. My last relationship was polyamorous but it happened to be with a very toxic person so I suppose the overall lesson is that mono/poly can work and can’t work depending on the individuals. It’s hard for people to have faith in things they’ve seen fall apart, whether it’s a parents marriage scaring them from divorce, a failed monogamous relationship tainted the idea of that format, or an unhealthy version of poly scaring oneself from that. It’s hard to remember when you’re with someone that they are a completely new person. We sometimes struggle keeping our past out of the present when it comes to romance, I think.

It doesn't always include sex nor does it require one to be in relationship with people of different genders. There are many different styles of polyamory. Also, true polyamory requires informed, willing consent of everyone involved. The situation described in the song isn't that, though some monogamous people want to be with polya people and get involved when they can't handle the fact that their partner won't be with them exclusively. And there are some folks who claim to be polya but aren't, they just use that name to falsely justify their disregard for a partner.

Seemed the song poetries an unhealthy relationship between a monoamorous and pollyamorous souls.
The mono is forcing themselves in the relationship with the polly, just to be with the other soul, just to be a part of their life, but it's never enough - and wishing for more is not doing well for neither.
This scenario is sadly common (visa versa too)...
Two good friends of mine were making the decision to have a relationship together. As one of them was polly and the other mono, they've decided on keeping the relationship open. Sadly, the mono friend didn't appreciate himself enough to ask for a relationship that suited him or turn the other way if it wasn't met with his needs.
At first he suffered in silence, later in apologetically, and at the end blamed his partner and saw the other as someone who deliberately tried to hurt him (which wasn't the case).
Nowadays he's better at acknowledging his part of his suffering during the relationship and that neither of them should've forced themselves to change or hopelessly wishing the other would. He got himself into treatment (for things he wasn't dealing with), and now he appreciate himself more and ask for a partner that will suit for him. The other partner too has much better relationships because of better communication and more confidence in ending a mismatched relationship.
So I wish them both to have their needs met, and all of you too. Have a good life you all ❤️

I do the thing I think this video does. I like to be prepared for anything so that I'm not caught off guard. I'll go through fake conversations in my head just to see how I'll react. They always reveal much more about me than the person I'm pretending to converse with. And sometimes those things aren't pretty. But they shift.
It's almost like turning someone into a "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not" flower. Except with those the idea is to go through their actions that point to yes or no. Yet here the video is focused on a single scene of dancing. Instead, your reactions become the flower petals. Personally, it's cathartic. It's been a badd few months and I feel like I finally have something to dive into.

She was so mariaful and upbeat, whenever I hear yellow or see yellow, her face just appears before my eyes. This feeling is quite close to being out of breaths or much of it neither. Every time I watch this video I end up speaking out loud to the screen, "you're going to be okay." My understanding is it's about polyamory, which is a valid choice. But it's not for everyone. And this sensitive young guy - I was once a sensitive young woman - seems to be suffering for it. Luckily he knows how to turn his pain into art. Wish I'd known that when I was a 28-year-old. I think his vulnerability is a strength and it will help him be okay.
