Bastl Pizza, Monsoon, Steppy- ‘Sketch in 9/4’- RtB

I was going through some pics on the iPad (looking for a pic of a hat), and noticed this. I couldn’t recall posting it even though I had captioned it, and indeed I hadn’t (distracted by the hat? Who knows). I therefore post it now, with little commentary, other than to note that I do not play enough in ‘odd’ time signatures- though this isn’t my first foray. Once you’ve got your head around Steppy it’s actually not difficult, and I still intend to offer a tribute to ‘Blue Rondo a la Turk’ in due course.
Like and subscribe, good people, spread the word and use an odd number in your compositions today. Lighting optional- you don’t have to put on the red light…

Roxane might not have had to put on the red light but I’m sure she still did. I refuse to play in 9/4, it’s bad enough being forced to play in 9/8 for some Scottish tunes. Great music by the way Wal. Wish I could be that prolific

David Bennett Piano (my go-to for music theory arcana) reckons there’s little or no difference between 9/4 and 9/8 unless you’re actually scoring it. Personally, I think it’s important to shop elsewhere than 4/4- a single-tempo diet can’t be good for you…
