My first comment on YT in a long time: this is the kind of content I want to see more of. A misunderstood tennis genius and an abrasive journalist talk it out, get to know eachother and seemingly make a social media feud into a friendship. I've always said this about Kyrgios, he's got feelings and shows them on the court. There's nothing wrong with it. He's the kind of guy you argue with on the court but can take a beer with after the match is over. I'm the same way, like many other sports enthusiasts, a game is a game, when it's over we're all friends.
Kyrgios is interesting because he personifies something that a lot of spectators feel is lacking in today's sport - maverick talent and personality. You won't always get commitment but you'll almost certainly be entertained... so Kyrgios ultimately is value for money.
That's a nice sentiment, but no. Kyrgios has spat at an opponent; directed rage at his box for "not supporting me enough" after he missed a shot; taunted Wawrinka with sexual remarks about his girlfriend; and on and on. I look at Ruud, or at Dimitrov, or DeMinaur and all the others who actually act like professionals on the court, and that helps put Kyrgios in perspective. The sport is much better off without him setting such a terrible example for the youth.

What an amazing interview. I’m from Canberra. I can attest to the fact that he is a normal guy who spends a lot of time doing things for others. He is who he is and that is what has made him what he is today. One of the most naturally talented tennis players on Earth that just hasn’t been able to be at 100% very many times.

Yeah that was Dawn Fraser who told Nick to go back to where he came from and she said it publicly and openly to the press... She’s such a dinosaur but slipped up because that’s the talk that goes on in private away from the spotlights. I dated an elite Aussie athlete 20 years ago and was horrified at how white and racist Tennis and other sport was in Australia. I feel for Nick as he was scapegoated by Australian tennis as though he didn’t deserve to be there. I wonder how much this contributed to his mental health. Being bullied in the workplace can be lethal.

Nick kyrgios has coped a lot of crap from people for so many years. But you have survived too many storms to be bothered by raindrops . I absolutely love the way you play tennis. This is pure gold!!!!!!! I love this! Nick holds his ground VERY well. I am beyond impressed he's grown up a lot and embracing who he is. I love it. He gives it to Piers and makes a plethora of good points. So sucks what happened to his family in Canberra....people are shit. He has matured so much. My first comment on YT in a long time: this is the kind of content I want to see more of. A misunderstood tennis genius and an abrasive journalist talk it out, get to know eachother and seemingly make a social media feud into a friendship. I've always said this about Kyrgios, he's got feelings and shows them on the court. There's nothing wrong with it. He's the kind of guy you argue with on the court but can take a beer with after the match is over. I'm the same way, like many other sports enthusiasts, a game is a game, when it's over we're all friends.

Kyrgios is interesting because he personifies something that a lot of spectators feel is lacking in today's sport - maverick talent and personality. You won't always get commitment but you'll almost certainly be entertained... so Kyrgios ultimately is value for money.

That's a nice sentiment, but no. Kyrgios has spat at an opponent; directed rage at his box for "not supporting me enough" after he missed a shot; taunted Wawrinka with sexual remarks about his girlfriend; and on and on. I look at Ruud, or at Dimitrov, or DeMinaur and all the others who actually act like professionals on the court, and that helps put Kyrgios in perspective. The sport is much better off without him setting such a terrible example for the youth.

ey I don't mean to be a smart ass but Nick Kyrgios is not a poster boy for EQ. Which to begin with he lacks self-control, so by definition he is lacking in that department. He is darn witty and funny but EQ is not something you associate him with. Just watch him play tennis for starters.

An Emotional Intelligent person is almost stoic or impervious to criticism or set backs. Mind you EQ is the embodiment of discipline and self control. We all strive towards it bro. So unexpected yet so appreciated! I'm not a hardcore tennis fan, but I def do enjoy watching a match or two every now and then. I was like one of the many who was fed only the negative parts of his story. I have a new found respect and understanding for this brother....and a further respect for Piers. Did Piers have a moral quandary?
Yes he did. And he still finds it utterly appalling on what happened on Oct . 7th.
Yeah that was Dawn Fraser who told Nick to go back to where he came from and she said it publicly and openly to the press... She’s such a dinosaur but slipped up because that’s the talk that goes on in private away from the spotlights. I dated an elite Aussie athlete 20 years ago and was horrified at how white and racist Tennis and other sport was in Australia. I feel for Nick as he was scapegoated by Australian tennis as though he didn’t deserve to be there. I wonder how much this contributed to his mental health. Being bullied in the workplace can be lethal.
He's been bullied all over the world. Him and his partner were told at gunpoint to get off a practice court in Atlanta when he was there to help the kids whose friends had just been shot at the Atlanta High School. He was fined $25,000 for spitting towards a fan who had called him a f...g hunchbacked monkey.

This is pure gold!!!!!!! I love this! Nick holds his ground VERY well. I am beyond impressed he's grown up a lot and embracing who he is. I love it. He gives it to Piers and makes a plethora of good points. So sucks what happened to his family in Canberra....people are shit. He has matured so much. This interview is the one I never thought I needed. I loved it.
He's definitely correct about eating after playing for 4½ hours. Glycogen stores must be restored as soon as possible. Nobody was harmed.
