- Honestly, Sirens have to be one of my favorite mythical creatures, and I always like hearing different variations of their hypnotic voices, so here’s my little contribution.

It is said that sirens were the women that were thrown in the sea because sailors thought that having a female on the ship was bad luck. Their singing was an expression of their sadness as well as a revenge anthem that would lure their killers towards the same fate. Hauntingly satisfying.

Imagine being in the middle of the ocean and suddenly in the dark you hear a woman singing somewhere out in the darkness.
I’d be freaked out as wel as amazed by the beauty of it.
And in the confusion they make their move as their singing slowly approaches until you can faintly see a silhouette of a person.
Followed with a stunning scream and the crushing pressure of the deep ocean.

Fun fact: studies show that one of the few logical possibilities for the sailors thinking "sirens" were singing to them, is because of whales. They make mating calls very similar to how they described their songs.

That is one of their trick maybe, to make you feel pity and then, well, you know. That feeling is not a sad feel tho. Have you ever cry because of happiness? It kinda similiar with your feelings when listening to this song. You just amazed because of how beautiful their song is. You will start hallucinating, thinking about something very beautiful and calming, and without any second, you will die underwater.

Originally, sirens aren't actually mermaids, they're birds and they sit at the end of the near ocean rocks. They sing and lure pirate ships and eventually the ships will get wrecked by the rocks. Sorry if im wrong
I've studied Latin during highschool and when my teacher talked about it I was surprised that mermaids were actually birds.

I think they were birds at one point but then people got to them, and removed every part of "bird" off of them, and threw them in the sea. Then Posideon Took them and gave them A tail, and scales. That's probably why they look like Mermaids.

12:41 AM on a foggy night. You’re out in the sea with your friend trying to catch fish. The shore is not too far so you can row back to land if you want. You both enjoy the quiet night until you hear faint singing in the distance.
Your friend doesn’t notice but you are instantly enthralled by this new sound. Almost hypnotized. You look around trying to find the source until your notice a strange silhouette in the water quite a bit far from your boat.
You point it out to your friend but he isn’t paying attention. You notice a strange expression on his face as if he’s in a trance. You try to snap him out of it but nothing works. You then hear multiple splashing sounds and dart your eyes toward the water. You see more silhouettes that are weirdly human-shaped.
The singing is also getting louder and clearer. You are unnerved but gather your bearings and grab the paddle to row back to shore. But you notice that you are 10x farther from land than last time. Impossible, you were only a couple feet away from the shore.
The singing grows more intense at this point, the silhouettes are less than 30 feet away. And you notice that they appear to have fish tales.
Your friend is still stuck in a trance and you are panicking as the silhouettes are now an inch away from your boat. The singing is now deafening.

It sounds so beautiful and mysterious at the same time but a little creepy to.
In the story of The Odyssey, as Odysseus and his crew approached the Sirens territory, he ordered his men to cover their ears with wax and tie him tightly to the ship's mast so that only he could hear the sirens' music and they would all pass unharmed.
Why did Odysseus do this instead of covering his ears with wax like his crew? Because the Sirens are able to sense when their music has ensnared a victim and will wait patiently for their prey to come to them. If no one on Odysseus's ship had been entranced by the Sirens' music, the Sirens would've sensed this, and would have attacked the whole ship themselves and killed the whole crew. By securing himself to the mast and letting himself be entranced by the Sirens' music, Odysseus was able to trick the Sirens and enabled both his ship and his crew to pass safely through their territory.
Also it is believed that if you hear a siren singing and make it out alive you become wiser as they show you your most hidden desires and thus you know what you truly want

A man was sailing on the Atlantics in his small boat. Until the man heard eerie but creepily addicting vocals seemingly from nearby.
The singing sounded sad, almost as a low cry of despair.
The man briefly searches the surface when in the distance he sees a large rock that is just above the water. That's where the vocals are coming from.
The man sails the boat towards the rock, and he spots a woman. With long blue hair that is soaking wet. Her eyes are practically glowing a dark blue colour, she's beautiful.
The man cries out to the woman asking if she needs help, but the woman has no reply, she simply continues her tune.
The song is addicting, it's almost as if he can't look away from her, and her voice was the most beautiful thing he'd ever heard. The woman's song becomes louder and more high pitched. The man falls into a trance, thinking nothing else but the woman.
The man walks to the edge of the boat and he puts his hand in the cold waters. The woman continues her high pitched tune and slides off the rock and into the waters, grabbing his hand.
The woman quickly yanks the man's hand and he gets dragged into the water, the man falls out of his trance and back to full consciousness. The woman starts dragging him down, far into the cold, Atlantic ocean.
The man gets a good look at the woman now, she has a fish tail, a long turquoise coloured tail. The man had heard of these before. Sirens.
Sirens are the species that all sailors had been warned about, that lure men in with their voices and beautiful posture.
The man never thought he'd be here, in the hands of a Siren.

My theory =
Sirens are mermaids hurt by Humans/Pirates they're not Evil they're broken,
They take revenge of the death of mermaids they love,
The lullabies they sing to get men is basically bcuz men were the ones who were the pirates mostly,
No one cared when human killed them but when they did humans called them evil,
However, the lullabies they sing are actually for the sirens that died becuz of humans, that's why it's always beautiful to hear but you can hear pain in their voices aswell,

Nah, it just happens the Bermuda triangle is very stormy and it's probably because of the geography too. Square tides exist in ... Sweden..? And it occurs when the water and wind hits each other in a certain angle with land in the way. Square tides are very deadly if you get caught, and it could be similar to the Bermuda triangle. If i were a sailor, im not gonna fall for their trap, or they'll fall to my trap
The night was silent, save for the wind and the waves which was normal of the sea. The air was crisp as the sailor looked across the waters that seemed to glow under the light of the moon. Soon, the sound he had grown familiar to hearing began to ring through his ears. The haunting echo that would drag lesser men to the murky depths, their flesh feasted upon as they drown through unheard screams.
But this sailor was no lesser man. He sighed as chills ran down his spine from the harmonies, the beautiful sound tempting something within him to follow, but being a stronger man, he ignored it.
He waited for only a moment, patient and silent as the voices wailed to the moon, when he could hear the other men come to the deck.
He stepped aside as man after man, lost in a dizzying trance, walked himself off the side of the boat to be consumed by what lies in the water.
He looked up, away from the water as it took on a crimson color, and stared at the pale moon and twinkling stars. Only they would know the truth of what happened to these sailors this night. And stars can’t tell secrets.
When the last man fell to his demise, the voices faded and there was silence once more.
He didn’t look at the carnage, he knew that he was at fault for this, but he couldn’t find it within him to feel any remorse for the drunken crew that lived on this ship.
The young man walked to the side of the boat, swallowing any disgust, he looked down into the water, and could see someone staring back at him. He gave them a nod before stepping up and diving into the inky black water.
When the cool caress of the waves engulfed his body, so too did hands that gently guided his body down and down, deeper and deeper.
He smiled as the hands released him and and he could see the enchanting face before him.
“You did well, my son.”
“Thank you, mother. The next crew will be bigger, I promise.”

We don't know what roams those parts. Maybe, there are aquatic creatures that can imitate the sound of beautiful singing.... but it will still be an *aquatic animal* and not really a 'mermaid' or 'siren' (sirens were actually bird women, kinda like harpies, in Greek mythos where sirens originated, so no water folk for them either).
