Justin might work a higher quality of stones, and have two generations of opal knowledge, but you make the nicest opal jewelry I've seen. This one is amazing. I hope to some day be half as good.
@@PulitzerOpal Thank you sir. Looking forward to it! I was joking a bit. I find it strange your subs aren't going up faster. Your content is hilarious and educational.
Sometimes when you talk the whole world suffers but you have quite an eye and this was extremely well done amazing product. Not only can you cut a stone but you also sketched out and got the right setting for it.
@@PulitzerOpal haha I don't think you could make a video where you talk too much! You do a real good job making your videos, it makes them extremely fun to watch!
That's a sweet stone. Fat color bar cut a little on edge faced nicely bright. I call that material Butter lol...reminds me of some White Cliffs rough from back in the day. Awesome job on the finished piece. Hard to let those go. You were able to keep the ghostly neon green "teaser color bar" floating on top of the other bars, makes me think it's a Night Opal. Is it brighter in lower light?
@@PulitzerOpal The only advice any Opal Cutter could give another is always check your symmetry/orientation. Rare patterns get lost quickly and...the Opal always decides if it's a prized ring gemstone....not you lol. We get so proficient at cutting, sometimes start forcing orientation. When you ask yourself..."Why DID I do that?...." Set it down and go "candle" the most prized piece of rough you have. It'll set your head straight, so when you go back to it you'll have solid plan going forward. Constantly check the Gem Opal in natural Sunlight as you go...up close and from 10 feet away. My mentor was Jenni Brammall, big time World Famous Opal Cutter/Carver in Lightning Ridge. Jenni was teaching me the craft at the same time she was starting the Opal Museum in LR early 2000's. I still go to her when I get lost. You're a talented Cutter, I appreciate your work. Don't sell for too little, Gem Opal is crazy rare.
That is a stunning piece. I'm sure whoever ends up with it will love it every time they wear it. Great job and thank you for sharing... I'm not sure I would be able to let that stone leave me after setting it 😂. Its a stunner 😍
Beautiful color and I loved your setting. I gave up on the pendant after Jeweler put it together and I took it back to him to add bigger letters. Donald it was in pieces six months later. Poor guy had blood clots hit and he lost his talent.
What you are doing is really great I love the videos can you do a "getting started" with what pieces of machinery is a must have what chemicals you must have to start doing this.... Your #1 fan
ABSOLUTELY BREATH-TAKING! You got me... lol I was confused for a second. I thought the cut was wrong. You're funny! Thank you for sharing this one. it's really a good one, no it's fabulous!
I ain't going to lie. you might think I'm weird, cuz I am! LOL but that opal literally made my knees weak!!! I'm not lying, I'm not lying! and that came "all" from you. from your hands and your imagination. that's impressive! applause, applause!
My mother would be forced to take me to collage when i was 3, ring making was what i retained. That blue jewelers wax , plaster molds,a sprue. A pouring spout and then doing the lost wax process . I want to make silver crystal pendants decorated with small blue colored opal cabs, and some 1.2mm tanzanite cushion cuts. Thats quite nice ! Im a white metals guy, but i appreciate well put together gold jewelry
Lol! I had a great laugh in this one. Loved the joke about having ten fingers and not to worry if you chop one off! As for the stone in this video. It looked like a true rainbow opal. Never seen one with so many colors. Beautiful! 😊 Good night!

Between you and Justin from black opal direct you two are the only one's I watch on UA-cam. I learn a lot from you on your video's and I learn a lot from Justin. The one thing that you do that Justin doesn't do is you do andamooka opal. I've learned a lot on treating andamooka opal and how to cut and polish all the way to setting. I would suggest teaching how to set more in different types of setting from A to Z from start to finish in every aspect. The one thing that I'd love to see you do is setting the prongs that hold the opal in the settings. I love your video's and have subscribed to your channel. P.s. I love the corny joke's. Lol😂😂😂😂😂😂!
It's amazing how the back side of that potch even had a bit of red in it.. almost looks like a perfect piece to treat and have it make that red jump out on a black background.
Wow you weren't far off the pendant does look like a galaxy somewhere in space i could imagine that very easily staring into it thanks for sharing your skills and knowledge
Who does all your video magic? Do you do all the graphic/animation stuff? Again Sir, you have composed and performed a delightful opal presentation...and WHAT AN OPAL...gorgeous stone and setting to compliment it! Well done!
Wow thats awesome. I bought my first piece of Australian opal. Its a boulder piece. I just been hand polishing and playing with it. I'm just having fun. But this is extraordinary. Really a fine job!! Guaranteed to make some lucky lady happy uhh or some guys but yeah be proud of yourself. And I'm really glad your making more video's. Keep it ☝ you really have a wonderfull Channel. And I've learned allot. Maybe you could give me some tips on cutting and polishing by hand. I doubt people even do that anymore. I've been saving to buy grinding and polishing and cutting machine's and saws. Im just starting out. Having a little fun the old fashion way i guess. But I love opal..take care. (Opal is also my birth stone)

Nice material & work there, dude ! I love the setting & polish on your stone. Thanks for sharing with all of us ! I have given my wife more than a few opals over the years that I cut. Beautiful Coober Pedy, Lightining Ridge, Queensland boulder opals, Lambina, Koroit, Andamooka, Brazilian, Ethiopian, Honduran, Spencer ID, and Louisiana varieties. She gets the cream of the parcels. Does she wear any of the jewelry I created from them ? Oh no, hell no. LMAO she complains they are too large....
Virgin Valley is tricky stuff. Never tried to cut mine. The type of specimens I have are immersed in water, as they are too unstable & break apart when dry. You will do well with the Spencer material. It is in thin lines of fire. You have skill finding treasure in the potch - that's where the real talent happens with opal. Anyone can cut a cab with skin to skin fire on a rough stone lol I like making "Canterra" opals with Mexican material. The rhyolite matrix polishes up great & helps hold the precious opal together. Great stuff ! Oh well, at least my mom (& customers) wear the jewelry I have made over the years lol
I enjoy the videos. I have a very beautiful Azurite malachite with it inclusions some hematite quartz and whatnot I polished it up but I do believe it make a awesome cavachon I want to send it to you.
