In this video we unbox and review The Kicker PT250 10” Subwoofer with built in amplifier from Walmart and put it to the test !!! Thanks For Watching :)
Fun video! You completely misunderstand what all the settings are. You should totally fiddle with the gain, crossover point, and phase. The input level is about whether you use rca or speaker wires to provide "input" to the unit, not about frequency. It should be set to match the output from your source. Similar for the gain. Phase can actually really affect how the unit performs as well.
Bro. Line input level is NOT frequency. It is the voltage output of the signal. Also the gain should never be 100%. And the bass boost usually is never max. Check out some vids on this kind of stuff. It may help.
I have 1 behind my seat 2002 chevy s10 regular cab. It shakes my mirror half way up on the bass dial. The install guy didn't use the battery wire included he used a fat wire & in line fuse.
If it sounds the same then it's better than the dual, because you got one doing the same amount of power as 2, besides the fact that kicker is a way better brand.
We thought the dual was better because the performance was the same .. and its cheaper , the kicker costs double the price than the dual … but ofcourse with no doubt kicker is a really great brand !
😂 any 2 subs will sound louder then 1 if they are the same size... Unless that "1" speaker is hella powerful.. So yea i would stay w the Dual subs. Even though kicker is better quality you still get more BANG for you buck w Duals.. ✌️💯💯🔈🎶🧐
The woofer was good overall! but i think the price was too high compared to the 10” dual subwoofer , both performances were about the same , minor differences
Its not gonna have you thumping down the block bro lol... thats when you wire your own stuff. A plug an play from walmart is so the guy can hear his music a bit nicer on his way to the office or on his way to get Carol a bag of onions at the super market lol. Lower your gain btw
I think it sounds really good. good and bad news. good news is that Kicker will last you a very long time it will also play 1hr+ nonstop at peak wattage n will not fail you. Up against Dual for example will probably bottom out after 15-20mins nonstop bumping. will drop its power. conclusion w/ kicker you really are just paying for the quality of bass not the quantity of bass. That is the bad news. FUGA!
Thanks for your comment, thats what were going to find out with time , were doing a reliability test on the dual and see if it could last 1 year atleast!
100watts is pretty disappointing :\ I'd say if you're on a budget a 350-500watt sub is where you'd start at to get a satisfactory experience. But then again you're also paying for the Sub, Box, Amp, line output converter, and the wires.
Maxing everything is forcing it and want get the low end you want not only that you need to set the stereo settings for sub cut between 50-100 hz -12 Just play around with it I hook up audio and that’s always the sweet spot
Also it’s a sealed enclosure your not gone get what you want but enough just to get a feel ported boxes gives that full sound I really don’t care for the built in amp it’s not as much power but you can still get a good sound
so what r your take on the KICKER 48TRTP102 VS the Kicker 49PTRTP10 10 with built in AMP!? is it worth to get the Dual 10" with a separate AMP or the Dual 10" with the built in amp?
Well we haven’t tried those out but hopefully we could eventually get our hands on them but those are double so im sure it wont disappoint, but if you try the double dual brand set up you have 30 days to make up your mind if you like it or not since it’ll be at your local walmart and you can just walk in and return without the hassle of shipping and waiting:)
@@TNG11Automotive i have the Downfiring Subwoof with the mono amp! it sound GREAT! but just trying to find out if the all in one Kicker is a better option, less mess
Well you will forsure have less of a mess and it will look more neat , however im not sure which will have more power since you have a mono block on your other system which those things pack a punch ! but i think you should give the built in amp ones a try , as they could surprise you like the Dual brand did to me :)
@@TNG11Automotive actually just ordered it, I'll make some short videos with the current one and then the all in one and post links so u guys can see 🤙🏾
The settings on the amp shouldn't be maxed out and i feel it's why you where dissapointed. The extra 100 dollars is for quality of components. The kicker will outlast the dual by a lonnng shot ans i bet if it was hooked up properly the kicker will sound best
Have you made adjustments to the head unit. If it's set to default you ain't going to get what you think. Should start with that and lower gain, low pase and base boost
The frequency response is to high but still man this kicker set up sucks I had a friend that bought and tried everything to make hot loud and nope ! I think is that stupid small sealed box or idk. But defff return that, I do recommend alot the power acoustic ones
I got the same sub just to hold me over. Yea it ain’t for bass heads. I replaced with a pair of $100 Kappas, surprising bang but a ported box is a MUST for bass
Rule of thumb never max out a subwoofer only use half or continuous wattage on any subwoofer never max it out max is a burp or a few seconds on max a subwoofer can handle . Max wattage isn't continuous it's only a burp or a few seconds on the maximum wattage on a short period of time in seconds .
I just bought 1 from Walmart too. It’s on clearance for $70 sound decent. Also I got my gain to 30% crossover at 0% bass boost at 20% 0 phase. Sound decent for my daily that had no bass at all 2017 Chevy spark. My 2017 Tahoe has an alpine type x on 3500w amp on 32hrtz box that beats the block and my 06 VQ Altima has a single L7 on a ported box with 2500 watt amp that also beats the block.
Your settings all wrong man. Don't just put everything at "max"... you definitely are not using it properly. Also, read the manual... High/Low Input will be in the manual (it's whether you're using speaker leads or RCA cables for the signal input). You have to voltage match your gain after you set your bass boost... max is not always best and often times not the thing to do. Setting the X-over frequency/point matters greatly also in regard to performance. Positioning the box in a different orientation in your trunk can make a noticeable difference. If you're turning the bass knob all the way to the right (at 11) with all of those incorrect settings, you're killing the bass and can damage the woofer, especially if you have the gain turned all the way to the right and are not feeding a clean signal. The user error is why it is under performing, not the product... TRUST ME. No, do not add poly-fill to the box. It is engineered to operate at peak efficiency out of the (retail) box/packaging.
omg you have to turn the volume to 52 and you have the sub in a trunk with no pass thru. GEEZE you losing all the way around. Your signal from your RCA is probably weak.
@@TNG11Automotive How strong is the signal going thru them? Seems to me you need stronger signal that your sub/amp can process. Good quality rca and good signal. You probably won't need to turn up the gain as much and your radio either.
@@scamchan Our power cable is 8 gauge , Power signal cable is 14 gauge and Ground cable is about 12 gauge , made sure they all made great contact when installing, but maybe the ground is too small of a gauge ?
@@TNG11Automotive Power doesn't sound like an issue. There shouldn't be any reason to turn your gain to the max on any amp when you have strong signal. I have an a 8 inch rockford sub in my mini van and it is plenty loud. I thought those subs have a setting to use speaker level input as well. You may want to try that and really see the difference it makes. I don't have the gain turned up too much on my sub. I might have to turn down the sub level from my headunit. Power only becomes and issue if your amp shuts down or distorts really easy once turned up. Having that sub in the trunk isn't helping much either.
@@scamchan My woofers we’re turning off at times when high volume and my signal wire was crushed so we fixed that , than it did it again and it was the ground having poor connection, so we grinded the area of which the ground would make contact and it hasn’t turned off ever since !

I think it already has polyfill in it from the factory.
What it needs is a 8 gauge power and ground and a bigger box ......js helped a friend who had a bigger box and bigger wires and it came to life!!!
