DIY Subaru WILDERNESS Build OR Cheaper Subaru CVT repair options

- This is an exciting one! I successfully regeared a 2013 Subaru Outback.
From the factory it had 3.9 Final Drive.
This shows how I installed a 4.11 Final Drive.
This helps with off road crawl ratio.
This helps with installing larger tires.
This helps 0-60 Acceleration.
This also theoretically helps with city driving mpg.
Using this info one could also repair a factory 2013-2014 Outback with a 2015-2017 Legacy and not change the gearing if not desired.
I hope you enjoy it. - Фільми й анімація
This is especially useful info for the folks that think their Crosstrek with the 3.70 TR580 is a rock crawler though.

He actually did it! The mad man actually did it!
Anyway how long until the CVT breaks?
@@TylerScranton Less time than the next 4L60 rebuild.
@@bruceyyyyy :(
What a Frankenstein’s monster! I hope that Subaru engineers and suppliers watch this, and have some input.
Gonna do another next!
hot fluid kills a CVT hence the elaborate cooler setup on the newer models
wooo!!! Cameraman Tony Approved!!!
Id ask around but its my understanding it would be easier to pull motor with trans still attached. One guy in a video did just that in 45 minutes.
Nice work
I would recommend adding that small air-to-oil tranny cooler. Those 2013 TR580's tend to run hot on the highway.
Could be a follow up video!
@@bruceyyyyy sweet! Yeah, stock '13 regularly sees 225+ F CVT temps highway cruising in the summer. No wonder Subaru added the cooler in subsequent model years, and my theory is this is why so many 13/14 years had cvt failures.
Lubegard Cvt transmission fluid is the best fluid you can use by far.Knock on wood but I have never had to replace a transmission in a car. Liquid wax esters or LXE Tech the particles love heat and act like mini-heat sinks. Ive been using it in every car I have owned new and used but if you have a used car do a drain and fill slow otherwise the shock will destroy it cause it washes all that dirt into the transmission. Read up on Lube-gard ,call a Transmsssion shop and ask them what they think.
Awesome Bruceyyyyy!!!!! So what are the chances you can regear your Outback 3.6R with wilderness gearing? Swap to Outback Wilderness TR690HT and it’s 4.44 rear diff??
Magic 8 Ball says Outlook Good!
@@bruceyyyyy this was good practice then! 3.6L H6 plus OBW gearing is going to be awesome!!!! 😎
@@bruceyyyyy and you should re-race Doug’s Ascent after the regear, haha!
would this work on a 2011 outback 2.5?
Not the same transmission. 2010-2012 Outbacks used EJ25 and TR690.
2013-2024 Outbacks used FB25 and TR580.
I'm working on a TR690 swap.
@@bruceyyyyy well shit... maybe i can do a manual swap or something idk.
@@Kaylathefoxy Is yours having issues?
@@bruceyyyyy its not having issues but shes got 222k on the clock so im seeing if theres a repair for when it does happen, better accel and mpg sound awesome, im building mine to do overlanding as well so bigger tires are in the plans
I don't think there has ever been a 4.44 TR580
Foz and Crosstrek Wilderness
@@bruceyyyyy those are 4.11
