What are the pin diameters of the set you have?

Thank you. I saw the set, but the problem is they don't publish the pin diameters anywhere.

Good idea. I would probably have used a impact socket...

Thanks 1MEAN1, impact socket would be better.
I just could not find anything online about my little issue so I kind of did the MacGyver thing in my garage, and found an old sockets to use, since there is no load on the socket whatsoever .
I was not going to use any of my good impact sockets for this little project.
Since I did not see anything on UA-cam about this, I decided to share the idea, I’m certain there are better ways to do this, but this is what I did .

Impact sockets are softer they might not hold up as well

@@jimdouglasgregory You are correct, however they are much more brittle and tend to break easily in this type of situation.

Nice that you shared. But you should have patent your idea excellent. And incorporate an impact socket or material of such.

And how many are surprised that the pin isn't seated in a socket in the bottle jack?

Not much of a way to do that unless you have a jack base custom made. Internally to the jack, the hydraulics are all routed through the base, so little way of drilling a whole without destroying the jack. And it's cast, little way to weld on a plate with a hole in it either.

OR a 4 inch long 1 in I.D. thick wall piece of pipe with a couple of threaded holes for set screws and toss that soft walled socket back into the 10 lb bag of sockets!

Another good idea. Personally I would have preferred to purchase an adapter for this particular type of press on eBay or something. With tens of thousands of this type of press sold, it baffles me why I can’t find one. Nonetheless, my little two-beer setup has been working just fine with dozens of bearings pressed up to this point. Thanks again anyhow. 👍

That socket is not strong or ductile enough. Its thin walled and chrome vanadium steel, which is brittle and therefore prone to breaking, shattering, when exposed to stress, it creates a real safety issue. An impact socket is thick walled and made of chrome molybdenum steel for extra strength. It's also a ductile material and less likely to shatter...SAFER

It is not a load bearing socket.
      It simply holds the attachment.
      Nonetheless, I get your point.
