10 years later, I just really heard 9:21-9:24 for the first time. After years of listening, I only realized that it shifts up in the key slightly just now, and it honestly just blew my mind. This version of Chon ran through interesting musical ideas really quickly, like, it can seem spazzy, but it's also poppy simultaneously. These songs are memorable, and I can hum the gist of most of them. I feel like that's what sets Chon apart from their peers.
@@Ian-sx7kp you're right, I wasn't being precise in my original comment. I didn't mean the phrase moves up the key, just the last note of it. It sounds like the first time it ends on C, then ends on D the second time, but I rewatched Mario playing it, and he ends on C each time, not sure what I heard when I wrote that. Maybe I was high.
I dont normally like instrumental bands. When I do they're typically really talented. These guys definitely fall under that description! Way ahead of their time!
Cause he was young? Cause the drummer was actually a friend who programmed drums for the ep and then the younger brother joined after he practiced and remembered all the songs so this joke isn’t really funny
i'd say they've musically matured,, although i wouldnt mind some heavier tracks. their new stuff just makes you feel warm inside and its truly a beautiful thing they have going on
I’ve been listening to this band for several years now and it never ceases to blow me away how fucking young they were when they made this demo. It’s unreal how talented they were at such a young age.

Mario seriously played drums on this since Nathan was learning? He's a beast at guitar and recorded bass on some other tracks so that would be crazy if he is really drumming too.
+theonebuckethead I feel like I read somewhere that the drums on these tracks were played by Mario, and that they taught Nathan the songs to play shows live. Still crazy though ._.

These guys were in high school and the drummer was 11, but they were still making music way ahead of their time.
Spear 11? damn! You mean the Mario's little brother (or cousin, dunno)?
little brother, yes. Nathan.
Spear It's really mindblowing that Erik and Mario wrote this when they're like 15 or 16.

12 years later, still not on Spotify. Who else thinks they should do a rerecord of this whole demo ?
Yes
They should make another album like this not exactly the same but regardless they are tight as fuck
I thought I was trippin. I knew this existed and I’ve heard it before but couldn’t find it on any platoform😅
Been praying they return to this sound for a new ep for a decade now since they decided to do the trendy post hardcore sound.

One of those dislikes was obviously Wario
Bro wtf you made me spit out my drink XD
Loooool
this Ep is still one of my favs chon's work, even 2020 and still rocking

Guys can you believe the drummer is Nathan Camarena
Lmao yes
wouldnt mind they're next album to have some of these heavier tones come back into play
the drummer was -2 can you believe that
Mario played drums on this
I thought the drums were computer generated?
They could be triggers (probably are) but they probably just still had Mario track the drums while recording.

After hearing Sleepy Tea i'm convinced this is the heaviest Chon that will ever exist. Too bad...
Out Of Orbit I loved CHON so much until Sleepy Tea. I was very disappointed by that album.
theres so many other generic bands that do heavy at least they're trynna do something different
I'd say newborn sun is their heaviest song.

EVERYTHING. Try it with coffee in the morning I guarantee it's probably like being on meth or PCP.
there is something about being a teenager that spawns this kind of energy in music and its always the best album.
but at the same time these are raw fresh ideas. the second album has to try and not sound like the first and that makes sense.
