I just wanted to say, you might not see this, but I have been stressing about this exam the minute I scheduled it. I knew I would have to know proper postural alignment and how to identify weak or strong muscles, but I didn't think I could actually learn it. This is the best & most comprehensive video I have seen on OHS. I really appreciate the little tid-bits of nuance that you mention/allude to in this video as well. Thank you for creating this!
The only comment I would have added to this video is mentioning that a person's anatomy may also influence how a person squats (in addition to muscles being overactive and/or underactive). I don't thinking going into detail on that would have been needed (or even feasible) for this video, but a quick mention would also be helpful for some viewers.

Thank you for such a thorough review of the OHSA. It helped give me the “why” for the muscles that are over/under active, which helps me own the information rather than just memorizing it. I think your simplified explanations of how the kinetic chains affect the posture through transitional movements is missing in both NASM’s CPT and CES. I would like to see more realistic examples of these distortions from regular people who are not trained or experienced in proper squat techniques, more in line with what a trainer would typically encounter with an average client. Thanks for the fabulous work!

I’ve been studying rigorously for about a week now and I have come a long way and am now passing mock exams, but to see someone demonstrate the assessments, joint actions and everything else has really helped me retain the info that much better, and even points out what you’ll identify in the real world.

Varies from person to person. but for the standard NASM Assessment it calls for straight ahead.

Hi Aisha! I typically don't recommend any specific books, but rather suggest focusing on getting a lot of hands-on experience in the first 2 years. Even better if you can do it while working under another trainer that has years of success.

so does this mean that some muscles by design are meant to be stronger than others?
Sort of. Larger muscles obviously have more *capacity* for strength. For example, the biceps will never be able to produce more force (strength) than the lats because physically they are much smaller and can't possible be grown as large.
