Town to Trail in Alaska

- There are so many wonderful places in Alaska, whether you enjoy town life, or trail life, or both. We enjoy going into town on occasion, but our passion lies in the mountains, on the trails and anywhere is is found.
We simplify our lives more and more as we discover the Joy in giving and the fulfillment we gain from serving others. While 2023 had its challenges, it also had growth. We are looking forward to the adventures of 2024 and excited to see where God leads us.
We are the Retherfords and we live in a 12x16, (with a loft) 375 sq.ft, dry cabin in Alaska. We live a simple and minimal lifestyle. We believe that experiences and relationships are more important than things.
We enjoy the simple, yet hard work involved in living this way.
We are on-grid and do have electricity, but use it minimally. We have no indoor water, bath, or toilet. We have wood stove heat only.
We are only on this earth for a short time and everything here is temporal. We are on a journey to our promised land in heaven, where all things are eternal. With that in mind, we are not working for temporal things but for the eternal. We are living life as God leads and not allowing ourselves to become comfortable or settled but continue to grow and move through this journey.
We have a lot of different content on our channel, just real life stuff for us. Cabin life, our simple ways, Christian content, adventures, hikes, & simple meals & snacks.
Our Channel is a smorgasbord of life lived.
Our goal is to become financially free, and able to pack our bags and go wherever and whenever God leads us.

I love the orange feeder idea. My husband found he had cut a log with a woodpecker hole and so I made a bird feeder out of it. A woodpecker found it in less than 2 minutes and the birds love it.
That is awesome! I’m still waiting for the birds, it’s been windy and cold. They will come, spring is just around the corner 😆

Good Day from Sharps Chapel Tennessee. -6 here this morning. Such beautiful country. Snow machine race was great! Look like lot of fun. Sure wished I was there.
It is great fun, when it’s warm. Next race day is forecasted for -1 for a high. Makes the fun harder. I heard yall got super cold 🥶 and we were warm then but, it’s back, glad we could lend it to you for a minute 😆

Good Sunday morning from WV. It's been in the single digits here for the last few days. I spent a lot of time outside yesterday growing icicles in my beard. I love the cold. Hey David, it's time to change the underwear dude!😂 I loved the shot of Pioneer Peak at sunrise. I actually took a screen shot of it. I saw on our news here in WV that Fairbanks had a pretty nasty shaker on Friday, 5.3 I think it said. Did you guys feel it? I always enjoyed the drive from Anchorage to the Mat-Su. Getting out of Anchorage was always good. Lol Hope to catch a little of the Wed live. Ken
I heard it was 🥶 down there. Some people near me felt the quake, I did not, I haven’t felt one in a while. We had warm weather while y’all were frigid now we are sub zero for a bit 🤪. Take care, maybe see you on tomorrows live.
