THINGS TO DO IN PALMER ALASKA: Old Bodenburg Butte Trail, Reindeer Farm, Camping & Alaska State Fair

- After traveling to Alaska via the Alaska Highway and an overnight in Tok, we have made our way to Palmer, Alaska! We start our day by hiking the Old Bodenburg Butte Trail and then make a quick stop at the Reindeer Farm. We then camp at Matanuska River Park and spend the following day exploring the Alaska State Fair! Join us as spend our first few days in Alaska!

I can’t wait for Katmai! I watch videos all summer of the bears coming out of hibernation and starting the summer salmon feast! They gain hundreds of pounds over the those months.

The hike looked amazing.... at first I thought you had started using a "selfie stick" to film with then I realised it was just Mike holding the Gorilla Grip at arms length🤣. The state fair looked a lot of fun. really enjoying you adventures, thanks for sharing.

Wow, interesting... had no idea they set up stairs up the Butte! I remember a steep path, very steep... but with traffic, paths probably got pretty worn. Still beautiful views from the top! // Fun to see the reindeer... I did not know they had moose! //And, cough cough, never been to the state fair! I worked and the traffic was always so difficult, I just never went. But I might have to check it out, if we are ever there during that time. // Really looking forward to your trip to Homer. We were there this summer and stopped by a tiny town, Ninilchik, to see a Russian church, and we drove down to the sea.... and it was oddly familiar. When we came home, I found a picture of me with my family sitting on a log.... the same log we had parked by this summer! Too funny. But... we did not do the sea plane tour, so I am looking forward to that. We did stop by Russian River and take the ferry across to watch the fishermen. That was where we had a bear run thru camp when I was little. // This is very fun, seeing Alaska thru your eyes! You are making me a bit homesick 😂
We absolutely loved our time in Alaska and are incredibly envious that you got to call that amazing place home! Never thought that we would be thankful for the stairs at the top of the Butte, but if the alternative was the steep path you described we probably wouldn't have made it lol Visiting the Alaska State fair is a perfect excuse for you to go back! We will have to add Ninilchik to our bucket list for next time, that will be our perfect excuse to go back 😊 Thank you for watching, we really appreciate it!

Totally agree with Heather regarding GOT prequel. After watching 8 seasons what a huge disappointment. Never watching anything GOT ever again. It’s dead to me!
