  • I got a request to build a generator enclosure in a HOA community so I had to follow their guidelines for size and color so here is what I came up with. I hope you enjoy the video and as always feel free to like, comment, share and if you really enjoyed the video consider hitting the subscribe button. If you would like to follow some of my other projects feel free to find me @Bearded Familyman on Facebook and Instagram. If you would like to have something built I always include a free build video so feel free to reach out. Lets make something!

    This is one of the best gen shed videos I've watched! I am finishing up a similar shed. One thing is still confusing...heat management. When you have a wooden stick built gen shed that is vented with a fan, what do you need heat insulation for? How big is the risk of fire? And I see that not all panels are covered with insulation which seems incomplete?

      @billszymanski4844, I am glad you enjoyed the video. We live in a temperate climate in Washington so if she needed to run the generator the ambient temperature wouldn’t get extremely high so I didn’t think it was necessary to insulate the entire shed. She was only running a couple outlets so the generator wouldn’t be under a large load more at idle. I mainly added the insulation in the areas directly next to the heat source like the engine and exhaust.

    Hey, can you expand on how you did the door? I need to do one like this but need some more guidance

      @grandslamhoneinspection9138, Start by framing the hinge side of the door and add the hinges with just a couple screws in each. Then once the hinge side is square and moves freely you can cut the door to fit the opening. This will allow you to build the door to fit the building just in case its not perfectly square. You can add a small border around the outer edge once you are all complete if you need to have a better weather seal. I hope that makes sense and help, happy building.

    But was the HOA happy with it? lol... looks good to me, if possible can you add a sound test to show how well it deadens the sound?

      @zam200864, the HOA approved and I have a couple other bids out there pending now. I will call her and see.

    What measurements did you end up with on this shed?

    • @beardedfamilyman243
      @beardedfamilyman243  Місяць тому +2

      @@Jfav-y7l the base is 4 feet by 4 feet and just under 5 feet at the tallest part in the front.

    Is it okay to have the shed close to the house as I see where the exhaust exit is near a window to the house.

      @sonvo4095, that’s a window in her garage and if you need to run a backup generator it’s more than likely it’s due to in climate weather so highly unlikely any windows would be open.

    How much did you spend for the shed?
