- How to kill chinch bugs and sod webworm. Bifenthrin is the key! After cutting the grass yesterday, I discovered brown patches in the lawn. Brown spots in the lawn can mean several things, but through investigation, I discovered I have chinch bugs, and sod webworm. Chinch bugs and sod webworm both can be destructive to a lawn. Large brown patches appear and look like matted down grass. Chinch bugs and sod webworm both can be killed with an insecticide. My insecticide of choice is Talstar P, or Bifenthrin. Bifenthrin is easy to apply, and does a great job killing insects in the lawn. In the video, I discuss signs of chinch bug damage and sod webworm damage, how to mix and apply Bifenthrin, and more! Moths in the grass is also a sign of sod webworm.

I like your style bro. I can picture those bugs just running from your app. ✌
Hey Lawn Love. every time I'm spraying any and all products I always mix in a little bifen at 1/4 to 1/2 oz per gallon based on last tiime I sprayed, I use bifen xts. I've been doing this for the past 5 years or so. I recently had an irragation system installed my installer told me that my yard was the first and only he had ever done without seeing not one grub. I'm contributing this to my bifen use it's the only outdoor insecticide I use. Good luck on your battle of the bugs..
Great info Eric, nice job. Thanks 👍😎
jef chaplin appreciate that Jef! Thanks for watching!
“Stop making fun of my headgear” lmao
Love seeing similar less then perfect climate and environment conditions. 👌
Koven Carlson I’m chock full of that my man lol
Great vid very informational thank you
+Adam Addy glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for watching!
Nice editing and narration! 😎👊
George Popa thanks, George! Been trying the voiceover deal since I’m having issues with my teeth
Thank goodness for the comments section. Was able to get the name of the most common chemical for chinch bugs, thanks guys.
Talstar p what I use for mosquito control. Soak down all the foliage and I do a 3 foot up and 3 foot across around the perimeter of the house and around all window and door sills to keep spiders and whatever else may be at Bay. Love that product.
Sandman's Dreamland used it last year too for my armyworm invasion. Thanks for watching!
Same problem.. Started to notice but crazy heat and then all of a sudden got plenty of rain and then ton of dead stuff
How long till the lawn recovers ?
So u think bifenthrin is the best ingredient for chinch bug and damaging pest ?
Good video. Now time to reseed. I had a guy kill my yellowjacket nest with Bifenthrin. Strong/Good stuff.
Next week I believe is when I’m seeding. Thanks for watching!
Good stuff. I've used bifenthrin around the house, but never in the lawn.
Woods Tree Farm I’m exact opposite lol. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info. Does the Bifenthrin kill earth worms as well?
Honestly, I’m not sure at the moment
@@RVALawnLove Ok thanks for the reply
Did this treatment work? Did your lawn grow again and did it get greener?
Dan zig yes it worked great! I raked out the dead stuff, and threw some extra seed in there during my fall overseed. Turned out fantastic
RVA Lawn Love Thursday I should get my fungal and lawn pest
How safe is it for your pets...particularly for dogs who graze on grass?
I don’t know for sure. I would read the label
good VIDEO.
i was told 2use bifen + reclaim.
any opinion, is bifen enough for CHINCH BUGS?
71donkrider great question. Where it is still listed for chinch bugs....they have developed a resistance to it over the years, so it’s not as effective as it used to be
71donkrider hence the reclaim
@@RVALawnLove ..
ok..i will use the bifen as directed
thanks
I use the granular “Bifen” religiously. Mainly to keep fire ants out of my lawn. The that it works on a whole host of other insects is a bonus. I also use Bifen XTS (liquid) to spray my entire house ( externally) for just for safe measure. So far I haven’t had a issue with chinch bugs or dodcweb worms in the though. Bifen thrum is a great product in my opinion, for more than just the lawn. Great video though! Good luck on your “battle” with Mother Nature.
Jerry Bob Hayes my wife doesn’t want me applying to the house😞. I’m wearing her down though. Thanks for watching
Check out Tuarus SC for ants.. Makes them disappear rather than relocating
First...👍
No bugs in my lawn..... At least that I know of! ;)
Jason G I hope it stays that way for you!
Maybe just personal preference...but shouldn't the pants be put OVER the rubber boots? That was my practice after running a lawn care business for 8.8 years when Ontario had tradition pestcides in use. The theory was that any pesticide soaking the bottom of your pants would stay away from your skin IF the pants were worn on the outside.
I personally like them inside the boot because the boots stay in the garage, the pants don’t, and I don’t want to bring the chemicals “in the house”. I have seen it done both ways around here
My heart is breaking. It'll come back brother
Braandon Davis fall overseed is just around the corner, this time next month, I’ll have cars stopping in front of the house to take pics of my lawn!
Does it have to get on them to kill them?
Wayne Essar at some point, yes. Being from the spraying, or watering it in to reach soil level, it eventually gets them
@@RVALawnLove Thanks!
I wondered if it only killed the ones the spray contacted.
Wayne Essar I think, theoretically it will eventually contact them
Lol. Look at this shit up here!!
+Grass Junky I didn’t even realize I missed one (there’s always a bunch lol) until it was live. Oops 😜
Oh dont mind me. I dont mind it. It was at that point I knew it was serious!!! Hahahhahhh I busted out laughing. Knew you weren't happy. Haha
Grass Junky lol
I have been on three of these sites and all of them mention the pesticide they are using but just cannot use common sense and show the names of the chemicals used on the screen so they can be written down. It is a waste of time for anyone not familiar with the chemicals. Thanks for nothing.
Bifenthrin can be purchased at Do My Own Pest Control. Great site with lots of good info. Read the reviews and questions for Bifen. Free shipping too.
