I have two pairs of the DSS-9. Pioneer's high end lab--TAD made these. They are still suberb speakers 30 years after end of production. I have been offered $2,000 for a pair for mine but I refused twice now. Superb speakers, search Ebay, Goodwill and that Canadian hifi audiomart site.... They usually show it once or twice a year somewhere. BTW, if you buy a pair, please do not cheap out and put regular off the shelf parts. These parts can still be found but they were and still are very high end. No $49.00 woofer from parts express type of place will ever match what Pioneer's TAD lab put in these brutes. I would only buy if all original and no one refoamed, recapped except a professional who this for a living.
Real nice Yamaha set up. Does that pre-amp get hot with the amplifier under it? I'd make sure the power amplifier isn't spitting out too much heat for the other components. Usually amplifiers should be given space to breath.
Love the Yamaha systems. I still have my M80, C80 the sound is incredible.

you bet your ass it does. not enough to do damage in the short term but it will shorten the life of components, namely electrolytic capacitors.
