    Hey, man. At 8:48 this is wrong! When you removed the metal knock-out from the LED driver box, you're supposed to insert some sort of connector bushing, such as an NM plastic snap-in connector or a metal clamp-on style entrance connector. The reason for this is so that the sharp metal edge of that knock-out hold doesn't slice the Romex over time and create a short or fire. It's purpose is to also keep the Romex cable in place so the wires don't all slip out of the hole or pull away from the wire nuts/Wago style connectors. You installed it wrong by just feeding the Romex directly through the knock-out hole without a bushing connector.

    how did you pull the cable from the quick connect? I think it was one time only once cable was pushed into the push connect inner housing. Or you just pulled it back out and it would come out eventually?

    That is a ton of work for almost zero benefit. And if you had a second floor it would be much more difficult. Bend the springs and the existing fixture would go flush.

    The drooping at 3:28 is a result of the brackets in the back of the recessed light not being adjusted. If you go to the 15 minute 50 second mark at the link below you'll see how to adjust it so it doesn't droop. ua-cam.com/video/-KzEkCUDtZM/v-deo.html

    • @FixThisHouse
      @FixThisHouse  2 роки тому

      It’s still possible. Although depending on your code, most codes require an attic access. Please try to find the opening. At the mean time You’ll just need to snake the cable to each opening hole you make depending on how many holes you make. Then connect it to the existing power switch you want to replace the old lights with.

    Seems like you're too close to the wall. Maybe you couldn't change that but I saw a video that talked about placement and how the light should be a couple feet away. Also don't have them close to a ceiling fan. It can cause a strobe effect and make you go nuts.

    Your lights may be too close to the wall. Need at least 3 feet away from the wall to rid of those shadows.

    • @brettzeigerbacher2314
      @brettzeigerbacher2314 2 роки тому +1

      Way too close! Look at the spot lights at the end of the video. Not even 12in off the wall. It looks like you're trying to showcase some artwork. I'm sure it's because you wanted them over the countertop but then 6in lights were for sure not a good idea.

    Pot lights are suitable only for first floor ceilings. Don’t use them in ceilings below an attic. They are not air tight. Rodents can actually press through since the springs are weak. And loose fill insulation will pour on you if you remove the light to tinker with it.

    • @eurobilt
      @eurobilt Рік тому +9

      not here to argue... in my experience, the springs on the canless lights are pretty firm.. I dont know about cheaper light systems but it takes quite a bit to pull a canless light down.

  • @MinYawnMin
    @MinYawnMin 6 місяців тому +1

    I see zero benefit in this project. Having cans is much more superior than wafers. If one of your wafer dies, you’ll have to replace the entire set. Not to mention the wafer has zero focusing. The light is too spread out.

    • @niemo118
      @niemo118 6 місяців тому

      I agree completely. I use the wafer lights for new installs in my house so I am not restricted by joists when planning my layout, but for the rare instances where cans are already in place, I just use the screw in retrofit LEDs. This is a lot of work for very little (if any) benefit.
