DAL2638 - N334DN, A321 heading to PHL

That noise reminds me of something back in July 2018 shortly before my 16th birthday. I was hanging out with my dad inside when we suddenly heard a thunderous roar from the north by northwest. My dad thought it was a jumbo jet but I wasn’t so sure. Here’s the thing, not only do jumbo jets have a lower pitch noise, but they also have a greater thunderous roar to aerodynamic whoosh ratio than narrow-bodies. This sound was too high-pitched to be a jumbo jet but also had a greater roar to whoosh ratio than a narrow-body, it was just a sharper sound in general. Suddenly, the noise shifted all the way to the east which made me suspect combat aircraft so I went outside. When I walked outside, the noise shifted again to south by southeast and that’s when I spotted three F/A-18s about half a mile up performing various maneuvers with afterburners engaged. They weren’t there for long and before I knew it, they flew off towards the west and they were gone! It even made the local news a day or two later that there were fighter jets flying over our area practicing for an upcoming mission!
