    Loved this one ❤
I had an M reg V6 24V Ghia Hatch in Tourmallard (Mallard Green as the Dealers called it). Without doubt the best car I've ever owned...apart from when the normally bomb-proof Duratec let go with a big-end failure and I had to put a donor engine from a low -mileage ST200 in it 😮. Fully specced up with the CD changer and air-con and the pear-drop alloys, it was a truly beautiful drive. One thing mine had which doesn't seemed to listed in the options was Adaptive-Damping. Pressed a button by the handbrake and it fired a solenoid on the shocks to halve the available fluid...brilliant design but £200 per corner if it went wrong.

It's funny to see how different they were in Germany. We did't have that basic/Aspen model. We started with the CLX which was the LX in the UK. The german CLX just used the wheel-trim from the basic UK model. The german GLX used the wheel-trim from the 96 UK LX, but the whole period from 93-96. So we had smaller selection for wheel-trims. And in Germany the saloon was never able to be ordered with a rear wiper. The saloons decorative panel between the rear lights was black on a CLX, on GLX and Ghia it was red. The sporty Si was not available in Germany. But we had several temporally editions called Fashion, Skylight or Festival... The Skylight for example had the same velor seats as the 96 Si, just as a standard seat. The Festival had the sporty seats but with a completely different trim :) by the way... I loved the Mondeo MK1 from the beginning and I still do :D

Impressive presentation for the early to current Mondeo, four different blues, first car to put a wiper on the rear of a four door model.
Alloy wheels were produced in New Zealand, by the local Ford plant in Wiri, south Auckland.
Their would have been subsidies for power consumption provided by the NZ government ❤

New Zealand based alloys would have been exported back to the UK 🇬🇧 for inclusion of the Mondeo, possibly other Ford models.❤

Fantastic as usual. Love the way you sometimes compare two two brochures together. Surprised ABS wasn't standard across the range by this point.

Yes indeed surprising slow to make ABS standard.

The Ford Mondeo was a good replacement for the Ford Sierra, and was a little bit different in all respects, with a practical hatchback shape, a useful saloon, and a good estate that managed most family tasks with ease, whether it was a weekly shop, trips to the diy shop for timber / paints etc or flat pack furniture from IKEA, delivering presents to family and friends, taking things to the tip, coming home with the new TV or washing machine that you bought, or doing car boot sales.

Brilliant review I love looking through these brochures it’s a shame Ford do not print . Went to get the latest Ford puma brochure from my local Ford agents and none available I don’t have a printer or gloss paper .

Very hard to get new brochures these days from dealers. They always say we are now more environmentally aware. In other words they save money by having info on line.

I wonder when they stopped printing brochures?

Environmental reasons I have been told by dealerships - cheaper to put them on websites is probably more likely the reason though.

By the 1990s the Ghia badge sadly lost a lot of it's prestige on Ford models. Chrome brightwork had almost disappeared completely. In respect to the original Mondeo they look indistinguishable compared to the GLX or Si spec at a glance.
My choice would be a 2.5 V6 Si. 🤔 I'm sure that Citrine yellow was also a colour choice - at least early on in the Mondeo's production run.
I never warmed tothe 'new edge' Mondeo from 2001. It looked too much like a VW Passat.

I always wondered why the went to the bother of designing and manufacturing the non tachometer dash for the base model only, which in itself was low low volume 🤪

The mondeo was let down by the 1.8td with more people changing to diesel ford's behind competition diesel must have lost some sales. It was far less powerful than Peugeot 1.9td and VW think it was even worse than vauxhalls 1.7td,
. Ford possibly the worst turbo diesel on the market for acceleration.

I remember the early diesels when I drove a rental Fiesta in 1995 on Guernsey whilst holidaying ❤

You bought the wrong engine if you wanted acceleration, good if you had a supply of veg oil though !!!!, and was virtually unbustable.
