Even if you would not have been able to use it at the end and sell it, you would still be a valuable member of the mermaid society because a silicone tail does not define you. Only your actions and words do 🥰

I feel you on the foot thing. I unknowingly broke my foot 10 years ago & it never healed correctly since we didn't think it broke. I normally end up limping by the end of my work day. I remember being so scared that I couldn't mermaid any more because of this, but thankfully most monofins don't aggravate my injury. I still take it fairly easy, but making it work without pain is great. I wish you luck in your beautiful tails Courtney & can't wait to see what comes next!

Say, Courtney: just out of curiosity, would you be fine if people do fanart of you? 'Cuz I got a DeviantArt account where I submit some of my artworks every now and then (I've submitted artworks of mermaids there before, in case you're interested) and I've been thinking about this for some time now, but I didn't want to do it yet, because I wanted to know what you think about this first. I would credit you and link your UA-cam channel as well, of course and I'd also send you the link when I'm done. And if you're not okay with such fanart, that's fine as well ^^💕

I haven’t said it before, but congratulations, Courtney!
I tried a silicon tail from Mermaid Kat once, at a merconvention, but the problem was that the monofin was too large for my feet, so it kept slipping off and I didn’t get the right idea of swimming in a silicon tail. But I have to admit that it does feel weightless in the water.

Now that time has gone by, I really appreciate this video more than I ever expected to. I don't really share this online a lot but I personally have a bad leg. 10 years ago I broke off a piece of my heel and it reattached with cartilage so it is very flexible and squeezes my tendon and as I'm getting older I'm realizing more how this affects my daily life and how some days I just feel like walking is just too painful by the end of the day. On top of that I am mentally ill but we haven't found what specifically it is yet, and part of that is sensory overload and I have skin sensitivity that is super ridiculous so sound and touch can be a problem for me at times. I really appreciate having someone else who has similar limitations but openly speaks about them to help remember I'm not alone and these things are still possible even with them

I have a foot deformation (anyway, I am a disabled person with a lot of health problems and my husband (dragon Kriss) is helping me everyday in my life and support me with my Dreams about mermaiding). We are currently working on creating a monofin at home that will reduce the load on the feet and transfer it to the upper parts of legs. We hope this will help me swim and will be an idea for other mermaids who suffer from health problems. Keep safe and always have a smile on your face :)

also the sensory things you mention sound like autism and a kind of special version of claustrofobia which in general mostly also is related to it.
I am quite positive you already know about the autism part and might have actually mentioned it already, but I am not sure about that so treat it as a uncertainty instead.
for me there is something similar and while I hate sharp things and seems and things being so tight they prevent movement I do sometimes actually like such high pressure and such. also if you want to try to overcome it you could kind of make it a roleplay. essentially see the presure suddenly building up like actually shape shifting, so getting into role. ofcource it is logic that if you aren't used to actual shape shifting you might even see that experience as kind of close to panicking early on. for you that can be helpfull however since any panick like thing or irritation you could kind of play that they are due to the transformation/change.
in my case I didn't need such things, but still it is great, also eventually switch to focus on the underwater world that way you change your perspective and instead of being stuck you are free(also is especially nice if you can reach high speeds so if you use artificial tails instead of normal transformation then you might be great of looking for fast and efficient fins. higher speeds mean you can do fast things and more easily react of stress and such.
if nothing works then make some kind of drum or such, it doesn't need to look like a drum but it is nice if it can make some sounds and such or similar things, drumming is a insane way to efficiently work away stress and fear and get comfortable in a place. for example I once was in a small wooden box/cage for quite a while and back then I was insanely claustrofobic for thigns like that. probably still am, but I managed to calm myself and actually kind of get over it for then by just drumming on the cage/box despite really only being able of barely moving at all. when I felt it comming I would just kind of drum and focus on that and it worked quite well even if it didn't sound like full music or such.
learned that one from some kind of shaman I once met, that shaman like person(mostly self thought nature shaman) just talked to me about some things in the past and how it learned things, I noticed some things and such and so figured out that drumming should be really usefull for overcomming fear and such.
now I say it perhaps I should try that again, since I notice I am much more durable and faster when I don't fear or such.
