Yona is just one of the most precious MLP characters ever. She's clumsy and smash heavy, but she has a heart as big as the universe, and is just....just so adorable. That she was the one who stopped Rockhoof from essentially wanting to commit suicide made her jump up a few notches in the "Best MLP Character" list for me. 10/10 Would protect with my life.
The show has too many characters than it knows what to do with, but I've really liked the Student Six since they first showed up. It's nice a nice break to have people who are clearly teenagers work through problems. They're the good balance of being more cynical than kids (the CMC), and more rambunctious than the adults. Having non-pony characters gives us a broader range of personalities than usual in this show, and yeah, I do like that they're a vehicle for talking about prejudice. But they still exist as individuals outside of their group, and outside of just their species; that was really pushed furthest with What Lies Beneath.
Two ways to fix that problem without inventing a new job: 1. Every teacher in the School of Friendship has their teaching method, right? So just let Rockhoof teach outside. He can't break anything if there's no mobilia. 2. Make him a firefighter. The guy seems to be very competent at it if he was able to put out a fire in less than 5 minutes.
No way giving Rockhoof a condo and a parade of vapid sluts would have been satisfying for him. He's a guy who needs to make himself feel useful, and doesn't want to retire or live off of anyone else's dime. Feels like they wanted to tell a story about culture shock (future shock), so that's why they wouldn't let Rockhoof go back to his old role of digging and saving people. It's all about feeling old and useless, and proving some things have value beyond mercantile results. Maybe the writers wanted to write strictly about culture/future shock, but someone put the kabosh on a subject matter so deep. So they had to write around it with the job search plot. But they still managed to pull some through with great moments like the star themselves betraying him, and how weird a motivational speaker seems to him. "Ponies use to know what to do with their lives. Work, pop out kids, and make it past 50."
Ok we make him a firefighter: Theres a kitchen grease fire it spreads when he tries dousing it, and he broke through all the walls to try dousing it the house collapses n the fire gets bigger n then he puts it out before it spreads to other houses. Normal firefighter ponies, the first house would be damaged, but saved mostly.
"Bruh, I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. Okay. We're Hippogriffs. We can fly, and turn into fish, but we still build boats. We... We have - No... idea, what the fuck we're doing." - General Seaspray
I kept shouting "SEND HIM TO YAKYAKISTAN!" at the screen. It would be like a Viking joining the Huns, he'd fit right in. It would be like Conan the Barbarian.
Given the rest of the episode, his unfamiliarity with yak culture would probably mean he'd end up smashing something he wasn't supposed to. And yaks don't take well to imperfections.
@julie martinez he'd be an ambassador. And like I said, it would be like a Viking joining the Mongolian Horde. Better than putting him on guard duty in Tartarus or something.
Rockhoof is technically a deity character who has lived for thousands of years and lived in a time that's old enough to be considered ancient history, but is behind time itself by a thousand years due to being stuck in limbo where he was frozen in time and never aged, alongside the old pillars of Equestria. While he was in limbo, the world around him changed and ancient civilization no longer was in Equestria, the world has advanced beyond what Rockhoof once lived everyday life through and the very world he once lived in no longer needs or fits him. Nothing of value requires his expertise anymore. He's a thing of the past and the world has moved on from him, as were the rest of the pillars, simply forgotten with time as the world progressed - although unlike Rockhoof, the pillars have fitted right back into modern Equestria. No wonder Rockhoof feels suicidal, he does not belong in the current world of Equestria. Yona and Twilight convinced him to keep living as his tales of old are engaging and exciting and prove a testimony to the world that once was, but the truth is, her words of admiration and love for him are hollow. Even with the admiration he gets from his stories, he still does not have a place in the world. He's stuck in limbo again, unable to do anything besides recollect events in history to the ponies of the new world who never lived like he once did. Rockhoof's story is a tragic one, a story of a power that once enforced good and defeated evil in the world, and is now not needed anymore, and thus, lives with little purpose or significance in the new world. He's worthless, even with love from the students. I'm not apologizing for my overanalyzing autism.
I appreciated it! Rockhoof's a guy who needs to make himself feel useful, and doesn't want to retire or live off of anyone else's dime. I like your analysis but I do have one nit pick, namely that Rockhoof hasn't lived for "thousands" of years. We have zero indication he was any older than he looked when he was sealed about 1100 years ago.
You also forgot "Probably lost every other person he knew except those six cunts that don't even care to help him" His story is exactly the same as every soldier who returns from war alive and a hero. Nobody needs him to be a killer any more, so if that was what he was good for, then... Might have something to do with the high violent crime and suicides among veterans. :(
What he is not realizing is that the same "Fate" who give him that _hypernaturally_ magical super-stallion body instantly [still never properly explained] is also the "Sino" that put him on a time where he can not use it properly anymore. -> What would have being his "Destiny" if he never received that "SHAZAM" gift? He will still be just a _weakling_ earth pony [not even "strong" as pony stereotype]
To be fair, if you're even slightly shorter than shoulder height or tilt your head even slightly while a male is turned around in this universe you're pretty much always checking out someone's junk.

+Jacob Bielski the sad thing is most of the writers of MLP never really get across what they're trying to convey or just half ass it because they suck as writers. everything they write is contrived to go some stupid route...which is why DWK was able to mention at least 3-4 different scenarios and plot holes that would have solved the issue and been more respectful to this character whose a literal living legend for these ponies, who they treat like a hindrance/homeless guy ...and he show didn't and couldn't do any of them, in order to force their point/plot along.

The very concept of smashing things basically gives yaks life, and Rockhoof is just as loud as any yak when he gets passionate, so he'd fit right in. A small detail in the episode, but does anyone else LOVE that Spike and Smolder are just hanging out doing dragon stuff together? "Hey, Spike, let's set a couple classrooms on fire for fun!"
They do that to get you to sympathize with her because 'cute' = precious, so they threaten that precious thing to get you to value it more. Because studies say ppl dont know what they value til its threatening to leave. Thats why if you ever have a wife you gotta have grattitude lol
This is all so very accurate! Also, _our_ stars don't move because they're light-years away, *hundreds to thousands* of light-years away! The fact that the Equestrian stars have moved _so much_ in so short a time means that they're incredibly close or there's somepony (probably an alicorn) out there screwing with them. Both of those reasons are cause for a lot of concern!
Good video as always. Yona is by far my favorite of the students. I still don't really like the School of Friendship as an idea but I think the execution at least has been good. And the Student 6 are all good characters that have been used well. Especially Smolder, Gallus, and Yona. Ocellus and Silverstream could still use some more development but whatevs.

As a history student Rockhoof is a extremely historically valuable primary suorce, historiansa should be all over him and asking questions he could get paid for.
Thank you, thank you for trying to fix his story. Thank you for trying to be smarter then the writers. I don't know what's going through their heads, but thank you for trying to be more creative then the current writers of Mlp.
Oh boy it's time to ride the Depression Express with nonstop service to blowing my fucking brains out. Wait, no, the other thing. The one with the horses and the haha chuckle times. Wait, no, i was right the first time.
Yona was like the only one being excited and friendly to rock hoof the whole episode and I really thought he was going to end up living in Yakyakistan where he clearly belongs. Smashing things and telling stories is what yaks love best. I don't know why they didn't do that. I guess ponies have to stay with ponies...
"You're waifu a shit" is a commonly used variant of "your waifu is shit," the obviously broken spelling/grammar being for comedic effect. I actually sat there for a solid 15 minutes while inserting that single frame debating whether or not to spell it correctly. On the one hand, I think "you're waifu a shit" is funnier, and I knew the person it was directed at - as well as most of the audience - would get the meme. On the other hand, I knew I'd probably get a bunch of dumbasses in the comments "correcting" my spelling.
5:53 finally, something I disagree with DWK on. I loved the young 6 right off the bat and think they were the highlight of this season. hope they'll be more of them next year.
2:07. That shit is savage right there. "Don't I have to be smart?" "Have you seen our teaching staff? We have Rainbow Dash on staff. You can say a lot of things about her but no one is ever gonna say 'Man, that Rainbow Dash is one smart bitch, I tell you what.'."
5:03 "bra we are human, we can walk yet we still build cars," is what I would say to that, you of all people should have thought abo- oh wait you can't drive due to excessive blood alcohol levels
It just hit me: Twilight is using _Cutie Mark Crusader_ logic in this episode. And I mean early CMC logic. Try something once. Didn't immediately succeed at it? Throw it out, next try. ffs, bookhorse...
DWK, your videos have made me laugh more than anything on UA-cam, maybe irl. Barring the magic of friendship, of course xddddd Seriously though, your content is amazing, keep it up man. I know what depression is like and I know how much it sucks to be in the midst of fighting it, but I know that anyone can beat their demons if they dedicate themselves to the task, usually through therapy. I also know I'm a preachy cunt with stuff like this but seriously, a competent CBT practitioner can help just about anyone.
Yona is cool but I got a soft spot for Silverstream. She's like Pinkie, but doesn't make me want to cut myself. So she's awesome. 10/10, would date and make horrible mutant hybrid babies with her.
4:07 I can't unhear "Rocko's bad at everything" and now i can't help but feel disappointed that there wasn't a "Rocko's modern life" pun in this video or this episode's title.
I don't even watch mlp anymore and only get my info from this, and the mlp analysis guys but out of everything Yona seems like one of the best new characters they've introduced. Yona is best yak :)
Yo so I was at Guitar Center and as I was leaving the shop this I guess my cousin was also there and he saw i was carrying a brand new Les Paul and he tells me "Hey you've gotten a new guitar too?" and I say yes and he wouldn't shut the fuck up about how his new Ibanez is soooo much better than my shitty Les Paul so we make it to his place and he pulls out a fucking Ibanez mikro and I just left after that because I didn't want to hurt his feelings by laughing in his face.
I imagine that his take on What Lies Beneath is that the Student 6 experiment with drugs in the back of the school library, and they're all on really bad trips.
That is one thing I kind of wish they explained. That is they have Rockhoof state he can't do his old job anymore, but they never explain why he can't. I mean even though they do have digging machinery these days, I think Rockhoof could easily keep up with them (though I guess if delicacy in the construction was required he'd have trouble).
I actually waited a lot (doing stuff I had "in the pile" ) just for the comments to be written [I already know the content of the video will be great].
The hippogriff who decided building a boat even though their species can fly and live under the water probably birthed Equestria's generally accepted and commonly practiced "one chance and you're fired" rule.
SeaHoof is probably already used a lot within the hypogriff comunity (I mean, they have hooves in their backlegs and they do live next or IN the ocean). -> RockSpray is weird enough to be easy to recognize its components.
Dude, I love ya (totally not gay)! You are the only reason i`m still watching this show (but only the episodes you do recap of). Just keep beeing awkward drunkard gem you are!

A small detail in the episode, but does anyone else LOVE that Spike and Smolder are just hanging out doing dragon stuff together?
"Hey, Spike, let's set a couple classrooms on fire for fun!"
They really REALLY need to stop tormenting Yona.
Yona is the new Spike.
They do that to get you to sympathize with her because 'cute' = precious, so they threaten that precious thing to get you to value it more. Because studies say ppl dont know what they value til its threatening to leave. Thats why if you ever have a wife you gotta have grattitude lol
Yona does not need to be in peril to be best yak. Being in peril does not make anypony best. Cadence is worst princess because she is always in peril.
catluvr2 yona is the new kenny
Coming this early never felt so good
Savannah Fires Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.
This will be the best 7 and a half minutes of my week
I miss you DWK
The final fade out screencap, with that song playing in the background, might be the single most perfect thing DWK has ever done.
I think you're a great guy and I love your stories
I lost it when the navy song started...Thanks DWK for giving me the feel good after work.
0:08 Me in my head: don't do it don't do it don't do it don't do it don't do it don't do it don't do it don't do it don't do it
Me:*EVERYTHING I DO,THE WAY I WEAR MY NOOSE LIKE A NECKLACE*
4:12 - Holy fuck, the common sense switch was in Rainbow's position! 😱
,,If you make someone feel miserable all the time they just wanna kill themselves" that's soo fucking true
This is one of the reasons why I keep waking up everyday. Great vid man. 10/10
Yona was probably my least favorite of the young six starting, off but quickly has grown on me
Her actually developing qualities outside of a typical yak and her character growth overall is what makes her such a good character now
BestYak
I honestly needed to hear the message of this one. Thanks dude.
DWK: (Insert Positive Quote Here)
Also DWK: 5:12
As a history student Rockhoof is a extremely historically valuable primary suorce, historiansa should be all over him and asking questions he could get paid for.
Thank you, thank you for trying to fix his story. Thank you for trying to be smarter then the writers. I don't know what's going through their heads, but thank you for trying to be more creative then the current writers of Mlp.
1:05 I'm dead 😂
Damn...now I have The Village People stuck in my head. Thanks, DWK
Yeah, what was I thinking - I mean, it's not even Saturday. ;-)
This was an amazing recap!
Oh boy it's time to ride the Depression Express with nonstop service to blowing my fucking brains out. Wait, no, the other thing. The one with the horses and the haha chuckle times. Wait, no, i was right the first time.
Wow that episode is really dark and one of the best Totally Legit Recap
Smolder and Spike were totally fucking with fire everywhere, and I'm kinda disappointed Rockhoof interrupted.
5:18
The most relatable shit I've ever seen.
I was waiting for a village people reference, and i got disappointed near the end, but you got me with that stinger yo
“I just wish they’d stop trying to kill her” YES PLEASE STOP THE YONA ABUSE
YES!!!! A Navy Joke, I waited and you did not disappoint this eager fan!
By the way, for those who can't catch, at 3:47 it says, "Sorry Seth you're wifu a shit" -- yeah, grammar is not one of his strengths.
@@dwk2528 Who is Seth? But more importantly why is his waifu Somnambula?Who has a cunt as a waifu?
6:18 it's the toys bro, always the merchandise!
When I saw the stygian bit litteraly all the went through my head was the title of his next book "50 shades of shadow"
Does anyone else think that Rockhoof would be at home with the Yaks?
Yona doesn’t justify the Lernin herds. she justifies seasons 8 & 9.
5:35 Holy shit that transition between Spike and Twilight was perfect.
Gee, if only they sent rockhoof to pinkie’s rock farm
5:53 finally, something I disagree with DWK on. I loved the young 6 right off the bat and think they were the highlight of this season. hope they'll be more of them next year.
2:07. That shit is savage right there. "Don't I have to be smart?" "Have you seen our teaching staff? We have Rainbow Dash on staff. You can say a lot of things about her but no one is ever gonna say 'Man, that Rainbow Dash is one smart bitch, I tell you what.'."
My Little Pony: Darkness is Magic
Wait for G5... you are gonna get surprised!
El Psy Kongroo @2036
5:03 "bra we are human, we can walk yet we still build cars," is what I would say to that, you of all people should have thought abo- oh wait you can't drive due to excessive blood alcohol levels
We can walk but we still domesticated horses. Though that might hit too close to the mark ehre.
Because cars are actually better than walking. They are faster. Boats are slower than flying or swimming in this universe.
It just hit me: Twilight is using _Cutie Mark Crusader_ logic in this episode. And I mean early CMC logic. Try something once. Didn't immediately succeed at it? Throw it out, next try. ffs, bookhorse...
Hey, I'll have you know Somnambula is A+ Tier waifu material.
Yaop117 Maybe S-. we are going by anime, right?
@@hatstorm1097 I mean i've seen her in both. She's great in the comics too.
Rules of DWK.
#1. Don't think
#2. Make sure it's as dumb and funny as possible
#3. Do #1 and #2 all over again
DWK, your videos have made me laugh more than anything on UA-cam, maybe irl. Barring the magic of friendship, of course xddddd
Seriously though, your content is amazing, keep it up man.
Dude you are so awesome why do you only have over 9000 views? Right, the YT algorithm.
"we can fly and turn ourselves into fish but we still build boats; we don't know what the fuck we're doing"
LOL
I just realized that that strange story about Aria as the best composer in history that I read years ago was written by you. Not bad, dawg.
Do you remember which site that was on?
Fimfiction. Just search up most popular Aria fics.
thanks dude
Wrong intro, Sounds of Silence is episode 23! You’re fired.
This is my favourite channel
Yona is cool but I got a soft spot for Silverstream. She's like Pinkie, but doesn't make me want to cut myself. So she's awesome. 10/10, would date and make horrible mutant hybrid babies with her.
Totally agree! 10/10 - GF material. And I would definatly hump that! That dragon chick is kinda hot, too,
......Jeez, I need a girlfriend.....
4:07
I can't unhear "Rocko's bad at everything" and now i can't help but feel disappointed that there wasn't a "Rocko's modern life" pun in this video or this episode's title.
Nothing says "magic of friendship" like assisting your friend with magical suicide.
This was probably the funniest one yet
I imagine that his take on What Lies Beneath is that the Student 6 experiment with drugs in the back of the school library, and they're all on really bad trips.
I'm a simple man. I see DWK, i crack open a beer and click on the video.
Anyone else really want "Bro, Darling" on a t short of some kind?
That is one thing I kind of wish they explained. That is they have Rockhoof state he can't do his old job anymore, but they never explain why he can't. I mean even though they do have digging machinery these days, I think Rockhoof could easily keep up with them (though I guess if delicacy in the construction was required he'd have trouble).
that comfortably numb reference was fucking god tier
delicious new DWK video
Had the worst weekend of my life. Got carjacked and my car is fucked. But at least I get to start my week with something that makes me smile
still kind of odd that the show went this dark but a good message and twi had some basic but good arguments
I came as soon as I heard.
ArtGuruSauce Productions And then you got on UA-cam.
Angelica, A the way from London
I actually waited a lot (doing stuff I had "in the pile" ) just for the comments to be written [I already know the content of the video will be great].
Here, I brought you a damp towel.
I want the entire opening song re-done with the ding dong bits. 5$!
Stay away from my ding dong bits.
@@dwk2528 I offered 5 bucks for it!
@@TonySki Five fucking bucks? Whatever happened to dinner and a movie? Nigga you gotta romance me, I'm not some cheap hussy.
@@dwk2528 hey bro thanks for giving me a small sample of the ding dongs. That s my favorite song.
DWK but you have the best ding dong bits
Suicide is painless.
The hippogriff who decided building a boat even though their species can fly and live under the water probably birthed Equestria's generally accepted and commonly practiced "one chance and you're fired" rule.
We build cars when we can walk. I guess hippogriffs like being lazy sometimes, too.
Are you creating an original ship with this video DWK? Do we call it SeaHoof or RockSpray? The fandom demands an answer ma dude!
SeaHoof is probably already used a lot within the hypogriff comunity (I mean, they have hooves in their backlegs and they do live next or IN the ocean).
-> RockSpray is weird enough to be easy to recognize its components.
YonHoof
Dude, I love ya (totally not gay)! You are the only reason i`m still watching this show (but only the episodes you do recap of). Just keep beeing awkward drunkard gem you are!
