I am fixing Notebooks since over 20yrs and this is by far the best tutorial i have ever seen, ever... EVER! Clear, detailed, takes time and explains every steps and gives a lot of tips and background infos. amazing. And yes, it worked at first trial, Thank you very much!
For sure I fix and have worked on computers for years and he gives you so much, more then even myself would probably. The funny thing is if someone could have something this Good, and still mess it up; cause even step-by-step with him explaining the how, when, why; it still is not an easy task to repair any newer 2017-2022 macbooks. Forget anything after 2020! I'm pretty sure Apple put in their user agreement that if you even try to open it up a laser rifle will come out and zap you into dust so be careful!!
LOL
Great video. My wife's MacBook had these super thin lines across the display and the Apple store wanted $900 to replace the it. With your video I did it myself. Happy wife, happy life. Saved a ton of cash! Thank you!

Excellent video!! Followed it step by step and the new screen works great! Can you add a list of the tools that are required in the notes as well as a suggested source to purchase the replacement screen? Thanks!!
My recommendation varies depending on if the person plans to do this daily or as a one time things. Screens usually search eBay for the model and year of your device plus "LCD assembly".

Brilliant tutorial - the new screen is displaying six vertical bars that you sometimes see on cracked screens. Tried booting into shell mode and I still get them. Could it be an incompatible screen or logic board? When USB to my TV image is perfect.

The Wi-Fi antenna get stripped because they are held by a tiny metal bracket. You can remove it by undoing the screw that is right beneath the heatsink where the antennas come out
What do you mean stripped?
Awesome Vid my Dude! helped me out big time!!!
Awesome, hopefully you'll be able to help me out little time :P
reseating the antenna isn’t working for me. it pushing down on the middle, it still pops back up. got all the screws in and reassembled. but the hinge makes a popping noise when i open the macbook. so something is too thick in the middle that the top part catches as it opens
You might have bent it
hm, i guess you probably figured it out, but did you forget to plug the backlight in?
Yeah, I got it. Haha
how come when you took out the antenna it looks easy. I'm trying to pull the wires and it is not moving
Have to pull from the tail end. I've been doing this over 10 years, so experience helps.
Hi, Instead of using threadlocker which is quite a permanent fix making them impossible to remove - almost - an alternative is to seal the top of each screw to the bracket with a drop of nail varnish which is easy to break if needed in future.
What do you mean by the top of the screw? I haven't had any issues removing screws with threadlocker, especially not on macs where the thing is one piece of aluminum.
@@ItsBinhRepaired If you are having no problen remocing screws with threadlocker you ae not using it correctly. As a mechanical engineer who has used loctite threadlocker in countless situations I can tell you it is permanent and usually needs heat to break the seal. Wnen I suggested a small drop of nail varnish the same drop should be put where the head meets the bracket thus forming a joint between the two. This is an industry standard method in many circumstances when screws should not loosen but are easily removed when needed. I should not have to explain such a standard method widely used over many years. Loctite is only needed in extreme vibratory situations.
@@TerryD15 as a mechanical engineer did you use threadlocker on such tiny screws? I work on computers day in and day out and manufactures even put it on from factory. Red, blue, yellow, brown, white, all types. They all come out.
I think you're thinking of use with larger screws and bolts. The size and amounts of things change their strength greatly. I could easily snap a piece of titanium the thickness of hair, but make it a mm or thicker and that's a different story. Same thing applies to threadlocker.
@@ItsBinhRepaired While I liked your video very much I disagree on this point. loctite 262 is intended as a permanent fix, the threadlockers used in Digital devices (I also repair laptops , computers and smartphones as a hobby) are low strength non setting compounds such as loctite blue although there are many other manufacturers of similar products (e.g. Hylomar Blue) and there are intended as non permanent. These screws are usually supplied by the manufacturer complete with the threadlocker already applied ready for use by the assembly plant.
To quote from the Loctite TDS (Technical Data Sheet;
"LOCTITE® 262™ provides the following product
characteristics:
LOCTITE® 262™ is designed for the permanent locking and
sealing of threaded fasteners. The product cures when
confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal
surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and
vibration. Typical applications include the locking and sealing
of large bolts and studs (up to M25 )."
Note the emphasis on - "Permanent" and "Large Bolts and Studs"
The use of liquide such as nail varnish is very effective in preventing loosening of screw in low - medium vibrations and is very cheap, unlike loctite 262. I still like your video!
@@TerryD15 not sure where you found that. Everywhere I look says medium to high strength and yes, emphasis on locking "large" bolts and studs. Again, the devices I work on, the screws are nowhere near large. I've been doing this over 10 years and see the blue threadlocker come loose all the time, causing hinge mounts to break. The red stops that and is in fact still removable. I remove screws that I've put the threadlocker on all the time. How can you deny my real world experience? Unless the threadlocker is faulty, I'm sorry, but you're wrong. I'm glad you like my videos. I'll a video applying the stuff to screws and bolts and removing them.
Great video, marked for future use.
BTW, if I have a A1989 display assembly, is it possible to swap it on later MacBook Pro 13" like A2251 or A2338? Such mod can be very helpful when my A1989 finally wears out.
Usually it's not compatible.
@@ItsBinhRepaired well darn it, I need to sell my Mac before it went dark.

Those 12 microscopic screws that hold the WiFi are annoyingly difficult to fit. Took me half an hour just to fit them because they're so tiny

Good instructions, I got my display to work! There is one problem however, and that is the max brightness is only 50% of what it should be. Upon resetting NVRAM the apple logo is fully bright for 5 seconds and then decreases to 50% brightness and there is no way to increase it. Do you have any ideas what the cause may be and how I can fix it? It would be very much appreciated! Anyways, thank you for the tutorials!
I ended up lifting up the horizontal piece of plastic to remove the display cables, could this be the reason? I don't think it should be because the screen does go 100% brightness but only for 5 seconds during bootup.
Try disabling auto brightness.
do you think this may be a wrong version of the screen?

@@vladimirdyagilev8946 получилось решить проблему?
i have a macbook with the SAME problem bro, (i still havent change the screen), so do you think i need to change it? Or is anothe rproblem?
What's the issue?
Hello! I have the same computer (A1989 2019 13'' touch bar), it dropped and now there are 1.5 inches of black screen on the right but the rest of it works fine. I am wondering if this is a connection issue or dose the whole screen needs to be replaced?
I watched several tutorials on 2018 models where the person disconnects the display from both ends and it resets the display.
I actually opened it, disconnected the battery (pressed the power button for 10 seconds), and then only the top connector of the display. After that, I connected it back but it did not solve the problem.
I will appreciate your advice on this as Apple wants over $500 to fix this issue and I am not sure how much a new display will cost?
Considering the fact the new M1 macs are so good and somewhat affordable, I am not sure if I should fix this or trade it in for a new M1. Thoughts?
Thank you so much!!
Screen would have to be replaced. :(

Hello,
camera on my macbook pro (a1989) stopped working, it just shows black screen and when i try to use the camera, there is a green light for a while and then it stops. Is there any opportunity to have just camera replaced? Camera is not broken from display side and display also works well. Is it probably just cable connection issue or do I have to replace the whole display?
I would be very grateful for your answer.
You'll likely have to replace the whole screen
Is the A1989 LCD compatible with the A2289 Macbook Pro model?
You'll want to ask the seller to confirm for you
Hi, i just replaced my screen. But my Touch Bar does not work anymore: I have tried SMC and NVRAM. Can you help me?

Do you know anything about the Life expectancy of these ebay Screens
Actually, I also own a 2018 MBP A1989, and confused whether I should sell it off and buy a windows laptop(maybe Dell or HP) or should I go for aftermarket repair (400$)?
