Ok real talk here, no salt about denuvo or italian translation. I've been a huge fan of DL 1 and played it for around 100 hrs by the time I write this message.
When you start the intro, one of the first things you'll notice almost immediately is that the model for the shadow of your character is the actual model used for first person animation, a.k.a Cyberpunk 2077's shadows. The way the game opens up it's literally the first thing you'll see, and it still made it into the game ? Uh oh, smells bad.
This is terrible. I suspect people liking the game just like to jump around and bash people like it's Melee Far Cry. But Dying Light is pretty much gone. So yes, the game runs like crap and has a terrible story this is already pretty well documented I think. The universe is stupid and doesn't explain itself well (no sorry I've done the secondary quest and I still don't get why firearms consistently disappeared from this world within 15 yrs) .
The horror is completely gone. Remember when in DL 1 you were stuck during night in some kind of appartment, listening to the wind in the trees in pitch darkness when a volatile would suddenly walk in front of your feeble light ? The rush of the race that ensued ?
Yeah, say goodbye to all of that, here we're having big boy fun so you're gonna glide around from watch tower to watch tower fighting pirates like you're playing god damn far cry 3. Now the nights just mean "stay on the rooftops maybe", and there's a mechanic literally nobody asked for where you have to stand under a light every 5 minutes or you're dead, otherwise you chomp on mushrooms every 30 seconds. Yes. This could be completely trivialised in universe by having a portable UV lamp... This is so stupid.
There is no walk anymore. You just run, all the time. Want to search an appartment ? Have fun gaining weird floaty momentum ending in sprinting every time you want to take a step.
Zombies ? Yeah I guess they're in here somewhere. Doesn't matter anyway cause most of the fun of the physics system has been replaced by atrocious static animations. Also for some reason most of the combat relies on drop kicks now ? Oh and they took out guns, yet you'll have bows and crossbows just to make sure this decisions to remove guns is completely pointless. (Secret hint : the solution was to keep guns but make ammo very scarce)
Of course, dumbing down the physics system mean that you won't be throwing your weapons to people's faces anymore, and when you kill ennemies their weapons just vanish.. How does that even get a green light ? The parkour now feels floaty as you'll spend too much time in the air and the player model has weird interactions with the objects, the parkour skills are weird (special mention to that horrendous thing that makes you turn mid jump and completely reverses your momentum) but worry not they found a way to screw it up even more : Now there's a energy gauge, when it reaches 0 you fall. This is not done to add any sort of fun mechanic to the game, this is ONLY here to gate some places behind energy requirements.
So, not only are we missing out on improvements but the game actually downgrades from DL1.
Obviously you can forget the PVP as well. As a replacement for ALL THIS, you'll get a ubisofty gear/level based system, that adds nothing to the game and only makes it more mechanic and less organic.
I'll stop this never ending list. People holding on copium that think we can't appreciate the game for what it is, let me tell you this : In several years, DL 1 will still be remembered fondly, but DL 2 will be out of everyone's mind by next month.
Before DL2 came out, I was afraid it would be a DL 1.5. Today, I wish to god that it was. I'm so mad I feel like a tornado. I'm not even talking about how they empasized branching story and it basically doesn't exist. Zero

I’d say with all the recent updates the game will be at where it was supposed to be at launch it may had a bumpy year but it’s definitely more improved then it was a few months ago

@@eg9325 mmm I beg to differ. having an xbox is a great value to get into the amazing game pass if you don't have the money for a pc. yeah ps has more exclusives, but xbox has been making some big moves. there's definitely still a lot of value in xbox. and this is coming from a ps user btw. console wars are dead, both are great.
