It's a much more useful video than most the other general video stuff coming out on the 'net. Everyone will find find his own way to play this kind of music. Pure perfection is not the goal. In fact it is a hindrance. It was perfectionists who brought us slum-hells like New York City that the tune talks about. The video is good. Points the way well, The rest is up to the musician in training. Ultimately? We teach ourselves.
@laserlax79 Yes that's right. You tune Every string a half step higher. So the low E becomes F, the A string becomes A#... and so on. Or use a Capo on the first fret.
In retrospect I'm wondering if tuning a 1/2 step high is such a good idea for the life of a mere acoustical guitar. How abt a capo instead perhaps? The higher tuning does work great and sounds super cool but do you really want to tax ur baby with excessive string tension?? Again I'm not an expert but I've had guitars which wouldn't tolerate higher pitch. Lucky I got the decent Yamaha I got for the price. Good tuning pegs, straight neck etc. I don't want to push it.
You know, I was wondering the same and realized a capo in the 1st fret gives you that exact tone for the song. Then you can play the chords as shown and you're done. No need to mess up with tuning or tension. Cheers!
Notes are right, but you are teaching this wrong to people bro. After the 4th not in the intro you slide down, and the slide counts for a note. You don't just pick straight through it. Still, the notes will help people learn it..
Thank you very simple straight to the point been playing for 40 years ain't no expert but I appreciate the adequate instructions. Your awesome!!
Franche Vazquez Thanks Franche.

I had already known this song but wanted to compare it to somebody else's..this was a really great, thorough demonstration. Very cool.

Hey Dan, you're probably right. I should have added a disclaimer to ALL of my videos. They're not 100% correct, but close. Thanks for your input.

Hi Matt, you could put a Capo on the first fret and it would work the same.

So I can refer to the frets without confusing beginners... I think. It's possible I didn't have a Capo then.
Im not disputing what you played but why not use a capo instead of retuning?
