Natural wood siding would be my first choice. But I am not crazy about the maintenance.

I love natural wood, but all the regulations on staining have made it that it no longer lasts like it used to. What do you recommend for stain? I used to love Cetol SRD, but it no longer works as before.

Pros about engineered wood- made in Canada. that is not a pro. tell me the pros and cons. I don't care where its made I want a damn good product. Also, when it comes to the LP siding they give you a laundry list of maintenance requirements the homeowner must do. If you do not follow those requirements then it would easily void your warranty. for example, they say to not have sprinkler hit the siding of your house..... yea there is also a thing called rain. Lots of people are pushing this LP stuff but when you look at it there are many problems with it.

Why can i hear the siddings moving and cracking from inside the house on only 1 side of the house? Is there something missing? t's a newer built house. The sound is loud and terrible!

To properly answer this, we would need to know your location. Short answer, metal and fiber cement siding contain the lowest amount of organic matter, which is what many of the destructive pest feed on. Some areas due to their weather cycles are less prone to destructive pest damage, and in these areas I would include engineered wood due to its extreme density. As a rule of thumb though, the less organic matter in the exterior product the better resistance to pest damage.

Am I the only person that believes that there’s no such a thing as “life time warranty” or “50 year warranty”
I have a feeling that in 15+years good luck trying to reach the factory trying to get this “deal” on replacing, I think A LOT can happen and it will be a FIGHT to get anything out of this “long warranty”, in fact companies only use that as a sales speech more than just being one call away and they replacing ur Sidding

Iko shingles is a great example of this. My “30 year” shingles falling apart after 15 years. Shitty company that spends more time defending their ridiculous claims rather than making a good product.

Loose the glasses. I wouldn't trust anyone who doesn't take their glasses off.
