Cat owner here. I've been using Sticky Buddy for years and swear by it. I'd say it lasts 2 or 3 years, before the stickiness begins to deteriorate. The secret to making it last is: use slightly warm water, put ONE drop of Dawn on your palm, lather it up, and then scrub the roller using only your sudsy hands. Rinse well. Roll on a DAMP towel to dry. ☺ Bonus tip: Use a hair catcher in the sink drain when you rinse or wash the Sticky Buddy.

I think both stick and hurricane would be the best. Use the hurricane to get the bulk and the sticky to get it perfect. So that you would not have to wash the sticky in between the use. You can let it air dry for the next time

The vintage dual sided brush is my favorite. The lint roller leaves a residue that actually makes your clothes stickier. The brush side on the vintage lint remover was for clothes that couldn't be easily washed, like suede or wool coats. The fabric needed to be dry and you would brush off the dirt, dust, mud, etc. A well-made piece of clothing that was given a proper brush cleaning would last a long time in good shape.

I have a German shepherd so, fur removal items are a must in this house. We used to use the sticky buddy, but after a while you'll find you need some liquid plumber hair clog remover for your sinks, and it also loses the stickiness after a while. We now buy huge packs of microfiber towels from Sam's for most of our house cleaning and they work extremely well for wiping off pet fur. For our dog's b-day, we make mini vanilla cupcakes and she gets to eat one.

My mom got me the fur wizard for Christmas and it's my favorite!! It's wonderful for getting dog/cat hair off the furniture and works magic on my clothes! I do however find myself mostly using it to get the "bulk" of the hair off. I use a sheet from a lint roller or the vacuum to get the last few stragglers and tah dah! No more hair!

  • @mentabil8

I have the prototype of the sticky buddy I bought over 7-years ago. It still works! I have the traditional lint brush and the sticky roller, it depends on the fabric. I have sweaters that do better with the lint brush; because it smooths out the wool fibers. I don't use a towel on my sticky buddy. I use hot water and let it air dry by evaporation. It takes no time to dry, the water doesn't sit on it. Word to Bailey!

Regarding the vintage brush from Germany: the opposite side (that looks like a boar bristle hair brush) is used for more textured and rugged garments, such as tweeds. Those have fallen out of favor as synthetic fabrics have become more common as most of them don't tend to hold lint in tweeds and wool outerwear *as* strongly as natural fabrics as well as the rise of commercial dry cleaning services.

  • @theodavis3752

I've bought a three of the dollar store lint brushes: one has completely fallen apart; one has split but remains usable and one remains in one piece. The one still on one piece works reasonably well for getting small amounts of lint off of my dark suits. I find I do have to use it gently
I also have a sticky buddy that I use for more serious lint removal. I've had the sticky buddy for over a year and, with repeated washing it does seem to become slightly less efficient. But, it still does a good job. Thanks for the comparison video--very informative.

I recently bought a new lint brush - design like the dollar store one, but built like the vintage model. It's strong and sturdy and does a great job with my lint (no pets, but I have long hair and lint-making laundry appliances.)
I bought my brush at a sewing supply store (WAWAK) for $2.89 or so. I expect my grandchildren will be using it.

  • @tammyelizabeth5157
    @tammyelizabeth5157 5 років тому +2

The 1970s one, you are supposed to try to get the larger stuff brushed away with the brush side, then follow up with the red side. It also can be used to brush off dirt on shoes prior to shining them. For wool jackets and sweaters that are quite textured, that other brush side comes in handy as well prior to using the red side in case anything is in the nooks and crannies of the cloth.

Happy early birthday Bailey! Today's my corgi Daisy's 13th birthday so it's nice to hear there's another dog birthday to look forward to this month. We're making Daisy some baked salmon to celebrate, but Bailey sounds more like the kind of dog to enjoy a bag full of tennis balls for a present.
Would you consider reviewing outdoor poop scoops? I've seen quite a few on the market (namely Walmart and various big box pet stores) and some get pretty pricey so it'd be nice to know which works best before potentially spending $30+. I've had the sticky buddy for a few years..but it tends to stick to everything wherever it's stored, and I've lost the clear wrapper thingie it came with. And I can't even remember the last time I used it. I did get the blue ones on your recommendation and do like those to brush cat hair off my work clothes. I don't have much luck with those washer/dryer rubber things though. Thanks, James! Oh! and I use the peel-off lint rollers in my craft work. It will take nail polish off of silicone stamping pads really well, and is portable.

I have both, the sticky Buddy and the red brush from the dollar store. I like both of them a lot. Depending on what I'm using them for the red brush usually out does the sticky Buddy. I've had my red brush for probably 12 years and it has not come apart. You may have just gotten a bad one or they may not be making them as well as they did when I bought mine. I love your videos. Keep up the great work!

Swank men’s accessories were popular gifts in the 60s. My Dad had a nice brush like the black part of your Dad’s brush, but with a long handle that ended in a shoe horn. Very beautiful hardwood accessories.

  • @leosigman7239
    @leosigman7239 5 років тому +1

I have a "vintage" brush like yours. Swank was an important brand of widely available men's accessories of good quality. Not cheesy, not high-end. That lint brush also has a clothes brush and shoe horn, as you may have noticed, which makes it a 3-in-1 tool unlike the others. The lint roller can be used in any direction, so in my experience it picks up quite a bit of lint or pet hair and seems to last a long time. I don't see the relevance of washers and dryers because lint removers seem intended for removing lint from surfaces that won't be washed right away, such as pants, jackets, and upholstery. All in all, a very interesting review. Thank you for doing it.

That is of course when my brother hasn’t stolen it from the kitchen, for my usage and pet hair amounts I find that I don’t need to rinse it halfway through, perhaps my car just sheds less than your dog. I even brought one for my grandmother, that’s how much I enjoy the product.

The vintage brush was made for the brush part to remove fur/hair and the red part to remove lint and tough fur.
The Sticky buddy is great for someone without pets, who visits people with pets. Again the bristled area is for fur/hair bulk, and the roller part for lint. I used to have one, never dried it on the towel, just 'shook it dry' and it worked very well.
Love the Huricane one, when you buy it you get two, the house and travel one.
The dollar store lint roller is great for traveling, no worry if you leave it behind.

I grew up with that Swank lint brush, and a similar one from Fuller Brush company (yes, purchased from a door to door salesman and everything). The ones we had the head rotated, so you could clean by swiping it either up or down. Cleaning it was done by swiping in the opposite direction, the lint or hair comes off in a clump.

You've cost me some money over the years and the Hurricane Fur Wizard was one of those purchases. Mine came with a mini Fur Wizard too. I have a German Shedder and both items have held up very well and still work fine. The fact that their bases clean off hair makes them superior to the tape or sticky hair removers since you don't have to stop in the middle of what you're doing and pull of a sheet of tape or wash off the roller.

I like the regular sticky lint rollers for when my cat would come in from outside and lay on the bed. They'll pick up the sand and nymph ticks off the sheets, which are so small you can hardly see them (they're like a little black dot with legs, and hard to see even on a white lint roller), and I don't have to worry about finding critters on me.

What if you used a microfiber (no lint) cloth to dry off the Sticky Buddy? Also, happy birthday, Bailey!

Happy upcoming birthday Bailey! Maybe bake her a pup cake. Who knows?.... Maybe Bailey could compare a few types.

Also another breakfast gadget is the master pan 5. You can make your whole breakfast only use one pan. Also use only one burner.

I have a fur wizard, and it came with a mini version. I leave the mini one in my car for hats and if I forget before I leave the house. The sticky buddy may be a good option to use before you leave the house, though!

Like the final choice but the scraper section of 2nd place was never really put to the test!

I usually adopt my dogs from the pound so I never know their birthdays. Bailey was the star of you Perfect Polly video, which even though the product sucks, that has been your best video, IMO.

the yellow and blue roller thing with fingers works great on cat fur and furniture. the fingers were great at getting fur out of creases

Thanks for the review! Washing hair down a drain seems like asking for a huge plumbing bill.

I gotta tell ya... I have an American Akita. He blows his coat twice a year, and right now, we're dead in the middle of one of those two times. To help put the fur-pocalypse into perspective, it's literally everywhere, on everything... even the cat (she loves to roll around in the piles he leaves behind). There's two things I can trust during these times. The first is a Furminator. It leaves him happy, and the hair comes off like crazy. But I can't use the Furminator on clothes. The one that works best is that Hurricane Fur Wizard. It picks up that very fine hair that my dog's undercoat is made of, first time, every time. It does so well that I had to buy a second one when the first one lost it's handle, then lost itself (I have no idea where it is right now).

Washing pet hair down your drain every day could eventually lead to plumbing problems

Then use a drain catcher. May look nasty but you can just knock it into the trash after rinsing and it is inexpensive.

Nick Schafer hell yes! I didn’t have a drain catcher in my bathtub and the pipes in my home were backed up all the way to the road! I had to have rotorooter come out bc none of the augers from the store were long enough; what a nightmare that was.

Could also just place a flat bucket in the sink or do it outside to catch the fur and then dispose of it in the garden

I've had 2 sticky buddies. They are amazing at first but they degrade so quickly. I'm going to try the hurricane, seems like it should last a lot longer. Thanks for the video

One cool thing about the sticky buddy is that it is GREAT to clean computer screens (or tablet screens) and phone screens. It takes off all the fingerprints and oils and leaves the screen pristine! Try it! It is also way cheaper than the ones that are specifically sold to clean tech screens.

I have a new dog that sheds more than I ever expected or planned. I am very surprised to hear about the fur zapper, I have never heard of that oh, I am going to look for that.
What I have been using to remove dog hair from my clothing, is dryer sheets. Not that it's good for the washer and dryer, but It coats my clothes with wax (?), and the hair does not cling to them. I do not use the dryer sheets on my towels, or any other material that i dont want to absorb water.

In order to clean the vintage brush, all you need to do is brush it in the opposite direction with your fingers! The fur and lint come off easily. I have one I've been using for decades, and it still works beautifully!!!
