Finn's character had the most potential. A storm trooper turned rebel? That could have the best character of the sequels. Instead we got "Rey!!" the whole movie

So true. A lot of us could see him being a key in knowing more about the empire, like an insider trader, but we got stuck with a third wheel instead of a important sort of a leader.

someone made a suggestion about what they should have done with Finn's character and I agree so much with it: He should have been the one to rally support from turned Stormtroopers, or Stormtroopers on the edge of turning. He could have been the force that started a rebellion within the Empire. He himself was a TURNED STORMTROOPER. He could have been the one to create a small army of ex-stormtroopers to fight the Sith Troopers in the final battle. I think that would have been incredibly fitting for his character and the theme of rebellion/resistance.
I always remember the line, it was something like “get away from the past, destroy it if you have to.” And they effectively did that through the movies.
Yep, the line was designed to literally rub the fact they were actively destroying the franchise into the faces of the fans.
Daisy's issue with SW is the same as John Boyega and Oscar Isaac. Kathleen Kennedy and mainstream media waged war on the fandom. The actors used to be proud to be a part of Star Wars, but now they just want to get away from the negativity. Oscar even stated he wants to keep working on SW, just not in Disney's Star Wars. This is a direct result of Kathleen Kennedy's agenda and she is now reaping what she sowed. The sad part is that the actors and the fans had to suffer for it.
Remember how hyped Boyega was to see himself in the trailer? Now he hates it. Remember how big of a fan and supporter Hamill was? Now he hates it. Its fucking pathetic how they butchered all the amazing potential, solely to push their agenda and PC bullshit.
@@matthewk4912 He didn't say it verbatim (i should've said, "he hinted at", instead of "he stated"). But, in 2019 he said that he's done for now, but the door is always open. Then he calls Disney "overlords". Then, in 2020 he was asked in an interview if he wanted to play Poe in a Disney+ series and he quickly said no. When his co-star Keri Russel mentioned it's $3 million per episode, he still turned the idea down.
When you look at the whole picture of how all of this ended, he and all the other actors were very excited to be a part of Disney's Star Wars, in the beginning. Now, they almost feel embarassed to even be associated with this franchise.
Disney going to war with the fans and making crappy movies in the process, validating the negative fan reception is why no one wants to do this anymore.
@@matthewk4912 Lucas' fandom backlash was nothing compared to Kennedy's backlash. It's all due to her constantly antagonizing the fandom by way of sneering comments, interviews and politicizing these movies. Not to mention that she betrayed Lucas' vision and lied about wanting to stay faithful to it. That it ended this badly, is to be expected when you hire a feminist like Kathleen Kennedy to helm a massive franchise.
This happens in every industry where you plant political radicals, instead of people with genuine love for a franchise. You can literally see the same pattern play out in the comic book and gaming industry. They hire radically liberal writers, artists and directors (they call themselves progressive, i guess, but they are just radical activists). They push out the old guard and proceed to wage war with their original fanbase, in hopes of attracting a new, more mentally malleable fanbase. It goes well in the beginning, while they pretend to be virtuous pillars of society. But, then, like clockwork, they get exposed for being the hateful and violent people they project on others, or they start collapsing because they burned too many bridges with the rest of society, and all the virtue signaling, pandering and praise they gave themselves didn't translate into an increase in revenue or fanbase. It's the same pattern everytime. Everything that is overtly agenda driven by people who believe themselves morally superior, eventually fails. Why? because radical agendas overtake originality and the ideas that initially attracted people to a franchise.
Star Wars only survived for this long, because it's Star Wars. A lesser franchise would've gone the way of Charlie's Angels 2019, a long time ago. Like i said, we may not always be able to point out the exact issue, but we know when something doesn't feel authentic anymore.

What I wanted to see was the torch being passed to the new generation, so that the love for the old was gracefully transitioned to the new. What we got was the new forcibly taking everything possible from the old
I was invested in Rey and Finn at first in the Force Awakens; a orphaned scavenger girl, struggling to survive on a harsh, unforgiving wasteland planet, barely scrounging together enough food for a day, perhaps her trials and trauma has made her rough, untrusting, callous - and she'd need to learn to open up to new people and work as part of a team? A run-away storm trooper, raised from birth to kill, who's seen and perhaps committed horrific war crimes in service of the First Order, now seeking to redeem himself?
That was story-telling gold, as far as I'm concerned.... Except that's not what we got. We got happy-go-lucky goofball Finn and socially well-adjusted Rey.
Episode 7: "Sooo, we're doing a new Star Wars trilogy. Whaddaya wanna write?" "I dunno, let's just do that first one again, with an even bigger Death Star."
Episode 8: "Sooo, we're writing a sequel to A Newer Hope. Whaddaya wanna write?" "I dunno, let's just do a DJ remix of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, but flip everything upside-down and backwards to SubVeRt exPecTaTiOns."
Episode 9: "Daaaamn, that's a lot of plot holes and fan hate to retcon away. Cleanup on aisle six!"
The sad thing is, Disney could have hired any of the best science fiction writers on Earth to create a new Star Wars trilogy. Easily.
I think that could've worked. Even the ppl who look down on fantasy movies wouldn't have denied because star wars is their childhood and a true classic. I think many ppl would've wanted to execute their vision on what happens after episode 6. I personally liked the force awakens. I think the biggest problem that occurred for the sequel trilogy is the director swap.
I seriously wish that Disney would stop destroying Star Wars. They have already killed it, they need to stop.

Hey Jaby remember how in TFA Finn was introduced as a deserting stormtrooper and what an interesting idea that was? Well in TROS Finn meets more people who deserted the first order further diminishing his story and character.
I'm a 70's kid and love the original trilogy. I did not like The Last Jedi (what was that about anyway?) and thought Rise Of Skywalker wasn't much better. Reminds me of "be careful what we wish for"
Honestly, Finn should have been the main character. A stormtrooper turned rebel, who defies the dark side he grew up with would have been awesome. Rey just sucked. She was the typical Mary Sue, she got everything handed to her just for being alive, never did any training, never drove the story in any way. Like Luke wanted to save Leia, so they stayed on the Death Star. Luke wanted to save his friends so he went to Bespin, Luke wanted to save Vader, so he went to Endor. But Rey is just told where to go every step of the way. Hey that guy is important, talk to him, hey that's the Falcon, fly it. Hey that's the rebels, let them tell you what to do. Luke felt like a hero, Rey is just the character in a video game, doing the fetch quests to finally clear her quest log.
Finn had potential as a character though, Poe was just forgettable and meh, Rey just sucked, but Finn could have been great.

JJ coming into this movie after one of the two movies prior actively tried to dismantle everything that he'd set up: "Not to worry, we are still flying half a ship."
Normally I'd have to defend whoever comes after Abrahams, and say that Abrahams is a hack only setting up nonsense going nowhere, so his work has to be dismantled to move on. But since Force Awakens was a tame A New Hope remake, that's not true here, it actually was just Rian Johnson's fault.

JJ Abrams didnt really direct the film... he was called in by disney to try to fix the amazing clusterfuk disaster that the actual directors had created and he didn't have time to reshoot the whole movie because it was already WAY over budget and past time... so he could only do what he could do
The mess of The Rise of Skywalker that J.J. had to direct (which I blame Disney on) feels way similar to how they struggled to construct Spider-Man 3, with Sam Raimi directing something a little out of his control.

I'm already at a point were I created my own Star Wars headcanon were I sort out the parts that are just bad and improve the parts that were weakly executed but good in theory.

Okay it's 1:52am so I'm going to point out every flaw in the movie from the top of my head and every good part.
THE BAD:
oh my god where do I start, in my oppinion they made 4 big mistakes within 5 minutes, they randomly showed palpatine to be alive with no proper explanation, they started the movie at the end of a situation, they showed snoke to be a clone which made little sense and wasn't thought out, plus palpatine looks like he's on life support. They showed rey in the forest(apparently she's the last airbender now) and she can lift rocks in a circle, they used marvel like humour in a movie that felt ripped off and out of place and wasn't funny, they pulled on the nostalgia strings like a hunter pulling out the dead organs of a rotting dead animal, rose had practically no screen time and it makes the last jedi deep even worse, for the next hour it was just composition, apparently rey can heal wounds with the force and can use lightning without any training, rey being a palpatine was really obvious and ripped off the luke and darth vader moment, then a bunch of characters where introduced and were pointless, fin ran around screaming REEEYY!, chewbaka died but didn't actually die, the whole "I'm the spy" thing was stupid and completely ruined the dead remains of his character, the giant reveal of dark rey was a force vision with pennywise teeth, the film turned kylo ren good which made no sense, they used up all the nostalgia with han solo, when they faced palpatine he spent 15 minutes announcing his EEVVIILL plan that didn't make sense at all, all of those ships came at the last minute which was a ripp of of endgames big moment and wasn't effective at all, palpatine can destroy thousands of battle ships but not a person holding a lightsaber, they use horses to ride on a star destroyer 🤦♂️, palpatine dies from his own lightning 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️, rey fake dies, the knights of ten are useless, Ben comes back and brings her back to life by the power of true love or whatever, then they kiss🤦♂️🤦♂️after trying to kill each other for years they kiss, then kylo ren dies 🤦♂️, the they all go back and don't even morn the deaths of thier fiends or anything or the countless storm troopers forced into submission like finn, that lesbian kiss that Disney included to be "woke" and its easily removable for countries that want to ban it, they pull on the nostalgia strings once more and you feel nothing, and worst of all.... Rey is in the dessert and steals like and layas names, Wtf!, Why?, she saw thier force ghosts in the distance so she can take thier name, so I guess luke can become luke canobi 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ And the film ends with nostalgic music to cap off the dead remains of this crap box of a trilogy.

THE GOOD:
Okay so the film doesn't get credit for what it did right like, snoke being a clone was kinda cool I guess as it showed that palpal was behind everything and pulling all the strings, the emperor looks cool, reys force powers are kinda cool to see, kylo ren isn't that bad, at least the "I'm the spy" thing was surprising, erm......seeing someone from po's past was kinda cool thier chemistry was good, Palpatine said "dew it!" one last time, palpal dying by his own lightning was kinda ironic that it was his own ambition and disregard for the boundaries of the force that killed him, kylo ren talking to his dad mirroring when he killed him in the first movie wasnt bad development, rey almost died, the lesbian kiss is at least a tiny bit progressive, there's nothing good about rey stealing lukes name so yeah that's it for the good stuff.
Overall the movie was a mess that had some highlights but was rushed and could've been 2 or 3 bad movies, also I called palpatine palpal a couple of times
And... Its now 2:22am
The sequel movies that should have been made would have been about how in the hell, in the face of defeat, did the remnants of the Empire rise to become even stronger (Starkiller base? Seriously? ) than the Empire itself and in such a short period of time!
The entire trilogy should have been about Kylo or Finn, at least they had SOME personality however sometimes inconsistent

SW Episode 2 was also one of Rose Byrne's early films, prior to Troy - a better actress than Keira Knightley in my opinion.

I agree wholeheartedly about focusing on the older actors. Passing the torch is fine and all but do it organically. They should have given the matriarchs of the franchise their due but instead they dropped them as quickly as possible to make room for characters that had little to no depth and were essentially filling the roles, and I use this term loosely, filling the roles of the older actors/characters. Carrie Fisher passed, they didn't use Luke at all in the first movie which was basically A New Hope and saying that the focus of force awakens was on Han Solo and his relationship with his son was a stretch. If it had indeed been the focus of the film that would have made a better story. Hell, the actual story of Luke losing Ben to the dark side was a better story in itself and it was given all but ten minutes at the most of screen time during the entire trilogy. They lost what Star Wars was about from the get go. Nostalgia is fine but nostalgia isn't simply making the same movie again, it about remaining consistent to the world building. Truly they didn't even do that. I just think they wasted the chance to do something wonderful. In all honesty when people say the trilogy still made them a lot of money, I call bull, because in all honesty, with the love the fans once wholeheartedly had for the franchise, it should have been the biggest thing Disney ever made. Combined these movies should have blown any marvel movie out of the water including Endgame, which is by the way an absolutely awesome film but still, any one of these star wars movies should have ranked considerably higher. They may have made money but so did all those crappy Transformers movies and if Star Wars is now in the same category as those, then the franchise has lost itself in the Hollywood Engine of empty movies with no depth and all spectacle. At least the effects were good for the most part. Not in Rise of Skywalker but Last Jedi at least looked more like a star wars film. And Rogue One is as far as I'm concerned the best Star Wars movie Disney has released and the most underrated. Acting was great, character development was on point, effects were stellar and the plot was perfect. Also, regarding Abrams, (I know I didn't spell his name right) sure he's a good director, brilliant I think is also a stretch. I think the issue is he doesn't grow passed his limiting assertion that the mystery box is the end all of storytelling. After a while that gets irritating and only shows his lack of interest in stretching beyond that. It allows for gaps in the telling of a story because he knows he doesn't have to answer question he poses in his work either to leave that for someone else to answer or to simply ignore the question all together. It starts to come across as lazy and simply allows him to ignore what makes great stories so he can make something look cool instead. He sacrifices character development for quick fix adrenaline rushes which, as a result lose any sense of urgency or gravity because their is no investment in the characters.

The fact that Daisey Ridley looks so similar to Portman and Knightley is more proof, IMO, that the original plan was Rey to have been a Skywalker in blood. Kylo's reaction to "WHAT GIRL" even implies he knew that he potentially had a female relative somewhere out in the galaxy in hiding.

I love the idea of a female lead..but it should of been Han and Leias daughter and no secret or mystery box.just a continuation of the story .The thought of a movie where their daughter and chewie searching the galaxy for Luke would of been really kewl and I would of filmed them back to back a la Lord of the Rings so that it felt more coherent and I wouldnt of had to worry about getting them back for each consecutive movie..and i would of made Finn Landos son..love the idea of the next generation of heroes with ties to the original characters i would of felt more invested and would of made the skywalker saga have meaning
so what you're saying is we should have had jaina solo, everything would have been awesome if they just adapted the EU instead of stealing from it and somehow messing everything up (despite having great source material)
I think one of the reasons that it sucked is the obsession of using the same "working" formula they used in previous movies which had diff script...there were too many dumb scenes that could have been edited out

Is there any movie videos and stuffs that Achara dosent like?Because i get the feeling like she likes everything she watches and her critical points are not critical points either.But Jaby i have seen him complain about stuffs at times which is fine by me as long as its a valid critcism
I haven't been invested in any of the Disney star wars movies, except maybe rogue one. I felt the failure being set up in episode 7. You can't set up a plot with all these unanswered questions and plan on having every movie be made by different writers and directors. Not to mention if you take away the "ooo the mystery" part of episode 7 and look at it more objectively, it has always been trash. Some of us noticed it right away, some people needed the next two pieces of garbage to realize that they were all garbage
@Erik Lerström yup. Same. The first half I was like "oh, that was kind of cool" at a few parts just because of the visuals, but i just absolutely couldn't have given a flying fuck about the actual plot or any of the new characters. And then by the time it started really building up towards the climax, I was already checked out mentally, just mindlessly watching it hoping something redeeming would happen. I went to see it with family, and the car ride home was super quiet and then suddenly someone finally just said "that... That was terrible. What did we even just watch?"
@Erik Lerström yeah, it wasn't better than phantom menace in my opinion. Hell, I would rather watch a compilation of all the cringe love scenes in attack of the clones over watching any of the sequel trilogy ever again
@Erik Lerström even the worst parts of the prequels have a certain endearing quality to them, ya know? Like it's bad in a way that you can just kind of laugh about it but it doesn't really ruin it. And that's because it actually had a good plot, they were always coming up with new ideas, and you could actually care about the characters. Plus, I've seen some actually pretty interesting explanations on why anakin was so damn awkward all through attack of the clones. How because he was forced to give up attachment, but did so so late in his life, he couldn't truly get rid of his feelings for padme, but he was so repressed emotionally that it came out in the most awkward ways. So even the parts that get criticized at least make sense. Same thing with how the phantom menace has so much politics and boring stuff like that. It's because the Galaxy had been at relative peace for quite a while up till then, so it was showing everything that led up to the conflict so it would make sense. The one thing I will say that phantom menace screwed up was it had that level of detailed nuance to it, but it also felt like it was more geared towards kids so it didn't quite hit the mark for either audience. Had it been a fully serious movie, it probably could have actually been really really great

@Erik Lerström I'll defend Episode 7 here, you were overly critical to be bored halfway in, in my case it wasn't until the credits, that I was sure I just wasted my time.
I mean you will realise the movie has no reason to exist as soon as you notice it's just a new hope again, but at that point it's only pointless, not boring.

@@richardgrace4500 That argument has been used a lot but it's not true. Palpatine was his idea completely. The previous Director had a completely different script that was thrown out and Abrams was brought in. He did indeed direct and destroy this film. He also, at length talked about having to use footage of Carrie Fisher from The Force Awakens to ensure she had a place in the movie. There may have been things filmed already but it has Abrams written all over it.

The whole trilogy was complete garbage. So many plotholes, retcons etc. If Anakin could force heal he would have saved his mother and Padme, he never would've became Vader and episodes 3-9 wouldn't have happened.

Due to circumstances in my own life, Rise of Skywalker is still special to me, but as it stacks among others in the series, it doesn't rank very high. It was the least in its trilogy and a disappointing way to cap the saga. But I still liked it.
I think they could have done a better job making the last Star Wars movie. But when you just want to get out of a franchise quickly this totally fails. For me the last three do not exist

Daisy Ridley does NOT look a thing like Keira Knightley. Keira is a hot female, whereas Daisy in these films looks more like a barbarian dude!
Keira knightley is thin like flatworm. You cannot buy any physical action done by her in a franchise. Also, hot is highly subjective, her head is like a square. Ridley is prettier and all in all more believable as a tough character.
but i must say the scene where lando literally brings all the people ships who support the resistance and then they fight the last order is absolute epic........it gives me chills

Also, OF COURSE he didn't want to come back! This is what he does, he comes in, ruins a franchise (which initially makes a LOT of money), and then skips town like a thief in the night!
I don't think he ruined star wars(before coming back for Tros of course) Force Awakens had opened the doorway to a lot of possibilities. Sadly it just wasn't meant to be explored

Its all Rian Johnson fault!!!! He fucked with all the characters! With the old and new character!
It was aite, but I went in expecting them to play it overly safe after the TLJ reaction. JJ was just not the right director for this. I think if ep9 doubled down on TLJ to pay off the more controversial aspects it could have been something great. They tried way too hard to stuff the genie back in the bottle.
The pathetic sequel trilogy basically does not exist for me. Part 1-6 by Lucas are all that matter to me.
I swear they should have killed off Rey. Rise of "skywalker" should have been rise of Ben Skywalker after all the shit he did. A follow up movie about him trying to redeem himself of all the evil he committed during his time as a dark side user. That would have been so damn cool tbh. In a way it would make Rey's sacrifice so much more heroic given they were gonna stick with the whole palpatime shtick. Leaving Ben in shambles, trying to apologise and answer for his crimes by doing good with his powers. This movie had so much missed potential.

@Erik Lerström exactly. Daisy and others are just actors doing their job. They have no control over the script and general direction of the franchise. That blame solely rely on Kathleen Kennedy. She clearly had no vision on where to take the trilogy except to bank on nostalgia.
