I've read thru the comments and will add mine to the positive side =) I appreciate your video and am excited I found one of the Chrome Precision plates online!! After spending a few hours today ... wasting SO much card stock and losing my patience trying 3 different cutting machines with metal shims that I'm about to go postal LOL 😉. I was never successful with anything I tried so was about to throw my dies into the trash, then I found your video and have hope 🙌🏻 Fingers crossed I have the same success as you! 🤞🏻
I just got my Big Shot a few weeks ago and don't own any intricate dies yet, but I'm so glad I watched this before I got frustrated with them. Thank you!
Kathleen Dillie a new Sizzix! They’re so great - I’m sure you’re going to have lots of fun with it. I’ll be posting lots more Sizzix tutorials too, so please check back often. Happy crafting!
Oh WOW!!! I have so many intricate dies and one I had to run through 12 times with 4 shims to make it cut all the way through! I need this!!!! Thank you!!!!
Jane Martin isn’t that amazing?! Seriously. I still can’t believe the difference. I have tons of super intricate dies that have just been collecting dust because it’s just too much work to cut them out. I’m so excited that this works so well. And it doesn’t scratch! It’s bananas.
@@bellastitchery8043 The sizzix website said that you can't use this in a Big Shot Plus and you can't use the magnetic base either because the Plus already has more pressure than the other machines. Probably true, but you wouldn't believe how many cutting plates I go through. They said you could damage the machine and destroy your dies.
@@bellastitchery8043 I got mine and gave it a try. It did a better job on the detailed die cuts, but there were cut marks on the plate, which surprised me. Not as many, and not as deep as on the plastic plates, but they were definitely there. Overall, it did a much better job than the plastic plates, but a few dies required several passes. I think everyone’s die cutter is a little different, and even the paper can affect the cut.
@@carolstella6776 that’s true. I have an older Sizzix, but I don’t have any cut marks in my chrome plate at all. It still cuts really well for me too - I’ve never had such an easy time die cutting the intricate shapes (yes, with some of my heavier cardstock, I still do two passes just in case). What machine do you have?
@@bellastitchery8043 I have a very much loved and used Big Shot. I’m not sorry I bought the chrome plates, just a little disappointed that I’m getting some cut marks, when it’s advertised not to. ☹️ I used it with a new plastic plate, so maybe that made a difference. I may keep the chrome plate for my intricate dies, and use the plastic for more open dies. I haven’t been able to use it much yet, so eventually I’ll get a better feel for what works best for me.
❤️❤️❤️thanks for letting me know your experience- hope it still makes a difference in your cuts though. I used to get so frustrated with the plastic plates and with how many dies just didn’t work
I've been using it for about a year and I felt the same way when I tried it for the first time. To think of the money lost buying others...I'm just not going to think about it anymore.
wow, ya know, I just got my amazon order and I was so mad I ordered the wrong thing , I ordered a new magnetic plate, and I ordered the chrome precision by mistake so I looked it up and found your tutorial, I wasn't so mad anymore, a pleasant mistake, thank you for a tutorial, I feel great I should make more mistakes like this ...enjoy your day
I wouldn't. The top plate needs to be a bit flexible (mine always end up slightly U-shaped with use). I don't think it would apply the pressure onto the die if it were the chrome plate, since that pressure from the roller wouldn't be able to get through it the same way as it can through the plastic ones. Does that make sense?
tiekoot no! It’s so bananas. Not a single scratch! I would have showed it but since it’s basically a mirror it’s hard to show on camera. I’ve used it about a dozen times now too and it looks brand new. So weird.
What if I use this with my normal dies, those who are not Intricate? Will this plate damage my normal dies? I like the fact that it does not leave mark in the chrome plate, so I was wondering to skip the clear plate as a cutting plate, and instead use this chrome plate with all my dies. Is that a bad idea?
It’s perfectly fine for all dies. I haven’t used a clear bottom plate since I bought this - it’s all I ever use now. Such better cuts with all my dies!
You know, I’m not sure. I looked for that question online and didn’t see anything about those two together (I don’t have a magnetic platform myself, or I would try it). You might want to post the question to the Beginners to Diecutting with Sizzix group on Facebook. I’m a member there and it’s always been super helpful for asking questions, finding information, and getting crafty ideas 🥰
Isn't it cool? I just recently got the brush and foam mat myself and it saves a TON of time (vs. the old way of poking each hole with a pin). lol Here's the link for that amzn.to/2HxWIkC
Can this base plate be used with the ordinary thinlet dies, not just the intricate dies. In other words, can you use the chrome base plate all the time instead or the clear base plates
Let me know what you think when you get it! I bet you'll be amazed too, and will basically have to run around showing all your friends and family (maybe that's just me. My friends and family are 65% confused by everything I excitedly show them on a regular basis) :)
Me hubiera gustado mucho que mostrarás la placa como mostraste la plataforma 😢
Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep that in mind for the next tutorial. :)

Jane Martin oh no! Why? Is the Plus the electric one? I have a super old model, but it just keeps crankin’ along (literally) 😂

YES. I have used it with the magnetic platform. It will take the place of ONE off your cutting pads.
Also, I need that tool you use to release the paper from the die. What is that called? 😂🤣

I'm not certain, since I've only ever used the Sizzix. Maybe look at the Sizzix website for which machines are compatible?

I think your video needs work. I would have been more convinced if every time you used the chrome plate you didn't put it together OFF camera range
