The perfect accompaniment to your morning coffee is, unsurprisingly, a confection known as coffee cake. Containing no actual coffee, it is instead a lightly sweetened pound cake that's essentially just a vehicle to get streusel into your mouth as quickly and efficiently as possible. Maybe just make the streusel part and eat it by the spoonful if nobody is around to judge you.

As a German, theres only one thing important about Streusel: there NEEDS to be a metric sh*tton, otherwise it doesn't count
I'm an Englishman but can confirm this is the only way to go
I bought a piece of coffee cake earlier this week and it was literally 50 percent strussel .
Important that its a metric ton and not an imperial ton. A metric ton is about 10% more than in freedom units.
Also it needs to be spelled Streusel not Strusel

If anyone is interested in how to pronounce “Streusel”: The st is pronounced like sht, the r sound is made at the back of the mouth (a uvular trill for those who know IPA), the “eu” is pronounced like the “oi in “loin” and the s is pronounced like a z!
schtrrrroizel
The "sel" more like a "Cell" just as long ad just as pronounced
Cash money The Hochdeutsch pronunciation does have more of a z sound there, not the s sound of “cell”. I’m not sure if some dialects might pronounce it that way though. Could very well be that some do!
I had to rewind twice to make sure he meant _streusel_
And don't mean it as an insult or anything, i just get fascinated at how german words are pronounced by non-speakers!
I ended up saying Shtroiloinnz.. something isn't right there.

Made your coffee cake with two minor changes (added cinnamon & cardamon to the batter) and it was outstanding and baking in a loaf pan gives it a fresh look. Thank you sir.
Just tried this but my batter rose over top of the streusel and then didn’t bake inside 😭😭
I just put mine in about 15 minutes ago and it swallowed the top layer within the first 5 minutes
This is exactly what's happening to me now. It's been in the oven for nearly two hours. The outside is getting burnt but the inside is still stodgy :(
This happened to me too guys... I am in the U.K. though and I've found out that our sour cream is much runnier than U.S. sour cream and creme fraiche is actually a better substitute. I'm wondering if that made the batter too thin and it wasn't able to support the streusel?
Lol my Struesel melted into the cake
My cake over flowed too. I wish the measurements were in cups. I trust measuring cups more than my scale.
When you had guests in the afternoon, and served coffee, these kinds of cakes would be brought out. They were always considered "for company" and so were verboten to kids for everyday eating. Originally, they weren't usually super moist, and the coffee balanced out the cake flavors very well.
Love how you accidentally dropped the "verboten" in there. But thank you for the info.
