Sabine is House Wren of Clan Visla. She's a descendant of Tarre Visla, the 1st Mandalorian Jedi. Mandalorians being who they are, I'm not surprised that it took so long for the Force potential of that line is recognized.
Good point!
@@RDramatica Thank you!!
People have to remember this was a defeated Thrawn with limited resources whose only goal was getting back to his galaxy . He even stated he wanted to lose as little resources as possible and his only goal was to get back to rebuild .
He succeeded in his goals against 3 Jedi . I say that was impressive. Leaving 2 Jedi behind in an era with very few Jedi around to stop him back in his galaxy .
Ok! I can understand that! 👍🏾
Kevin, Sabine was just staying at level 4 until she got to Dantooine so she could level up more force powers as soon as she became a Jedi Sentinel.
Haaaaa! Kotor reference for the win!
By the power of Bastila Shan, Sabine has the power!
Thanks John for all your reviews on Ahsoka! Had a bunch of fun watching Ashoka and your reviews. Nice to hear some positivity as well as criticism.
I think Thrawn was major steps ahead.. Got to remember, he wanted to delay them for as long as possible and every decision he made was for this..
And *to get back to the main galaxy with as many resources as possible
Yes indeed, plus he had lil to work with and he had to depend on the mothers
What I liked about Ezra's reveal at the end of the episode is it's yet another moment where Ezra is in a Stormtrooper outfit. The guy collected stormtrooper helmets. This felt like a very Ezra thing. I got giddy about it when he started dragging that fallen trooper away. I do wish there was a physical reunion of Ezra and Hera at the end, but I loved that they framed them all with the Ghost in the background to recall the entire Rebels crew, so I wasn't as bothered by it.
This entire series is a love letter to Clone wars & Rebels. There are parts of the show that need re-writing but overall this series did what it was set out to do --> place down the chess pieces for more Filoni verse stuff in the future.
The music in this show is EPIC, Kevin Kiner definitely outdone himself.
I'd like to see a few Tales of the Jedi shorts with Ahsoka and Sabine on how they first started the master/apprentice relationship up to when they parted ways. Ashley and Tiya performing with the Kiner themes playing.
Same for backstory on baylan and shin pls…
Thrawn said many times this season that he didn't have the resources to spare to ensure the capture of Ashoka's crew. I figured that two tie-fighters was the best they could do.
With Thrawn, I think it makes sense that he pulls his punches to some degree here because he's trying to conserve his forces. He doesn't entirely know what to expect of the Imperial remnant when he returns to the GFFA, so he wants to make sure he has resources. That he goes directly to Dathomir clearly suggests that the cargo is likely Nightsisters and Nightbrothers who will be resurrected to be a considerable fighting force. (Which the Great Mothers will probably use for their own purposes.) While I agree that they are setting up a larger threat with Baylon and the Mortis gods, I firmly believe we will get a more dangerous Thrawn in command of the Remnant forces, as well as the live-action appearance of Rae Sloane, setting things up for the First Order.
To make a case for Sabine having the force (I wasn't a great fan of her force sensitivity in the beginning, but I went along for the ride and ultimately liked it in the end because she earned it), we forget that Sabine has a Jedi element in her pedigree through Tarre Viszla, the first Mandalorian Jedi. After all, she was able to win the dark saber and even wield it. It would have made a stronger case for Sabine if that connection to Tarre Viszla came up in conversation and in the storyline. I also think that she is will be the rallying link to the other Mandalorians in the end game with Thrawn. Hopefully you can elaborate on that connection to Tarre Viszla in a future video.
Well said... also we forget Savage oppress did not use the force until Dooku brought it out of him thru Savage anger.. he barely lifted them stones until Dooku shocked the sh** out of savage
I think when it comes to the Jedi Thrawn is carefully playing a game of attrition, where he could just eek out enough of a victory
I think what people are missing is that Thrawn was using all these things as delay tactics. He didn’t want to waste resources so he used as little as needed
Hey, John and crew! Loved the show and agree with most of your points, especially you, John. Agree, agree, agree, agree with all of your points. Laura, remember that George Lucy's said that EVERYONE has the force. It's just that some people have a gift at being able to get to it better than others.
NOT ENOUGH HUGGING. WHAT THE BLAZES FELONI? People hug when they haven't seen their close friends in a long time.
Great show. Hope we see a season 2 of Ahsoka. 😊
Kanans almost exact words in Rebels. The force resides in all living beings, but Sabine is blocked. Echos Yoda and more importantly George. Also I can name more people without the force than the few with it
The actors who played Ezra and Hera were probably filmed separately. Seems kind of obvious. So no hug.
I could not agree more with Laura on the force sensitivity of Sabine. Her whole story was so puzzling to me in this series. (Loved the series as a whole), but her journey made me just confused with the force, made it muddy, and felt....well, "Forced". Its like...."You get the force, you get the force, we get the force, EVERYONE gets the force"! haha. Agreed on the participation trophy. Sabine is a bad ass Mando. LOVED where I had thought it was going with her training as a Jedi, maybe a little force sensitive, but cannot really use the force. (cough cough, Chirrut from Rogue One)! Poor guy adored the force, wanted it so bad. This did him wrong imo!
Anyhow haha....solid series. Sets up SO much cool lore going forward. Sad we only got Ray a little in the finale, but really excited for what is coming next. Hope they dont try to stretch out the story too much with multiple seasons etc. But overall quite stoked
Thrown has limited resources but you want him to waist them all trying to kill 3 Jedi when slowing them down and saving resources is clearly his intention
Ezra specifically said " Ashoka wants me to build a lightsaber before we fight thrawn" .. Hopefully that will ease the argument of ezra not wanting a lightsaber
Love you guys!
Loved the season!
I'm already ready for season 2!!!
Rosario looks more like Ahsoka than Ashley does.
Same with Natasha and Tiya regarding Sabine. Katie was cast as live-action Bo-Katan because the animated character looked enough like her to begin with. To a degree, Lars looked enough like Thrawn that casting him to use the voice was a great choice.
I think Hayden will reprise his role as Ghost Anakin.....you know bcoz he's supposed to have taken The Father's role; If they are going with the Mortis Gods arch, with Morai being in Peridea, Anakin should be there as well in season 2 of Ahsoka 🤷♂
The force push was too much, they should have kept that for season two, and considering the actress has a background in martial arts I think they should have played more into that. I think they can bring back Morgan, after all, she is a night sister. Id like to see Baylan in Tales of the Jedi.
I think a lot of the critique and hate for this show is the distain for Lucas Film Disney and Disney in general. Dave Filoni is the best last hope for Star Wars and Disney has the budget to produce more content. George Lucas is not getting any younger and he taught Dave the vision. I believe Dave Filoni will express that vision the best he can within the Disney jurisdiction.
Thrawn has lost a step because he has been out of the fight for so long. But with more and more encounters with the New Rebellion he’ll see how disjointed and they are. He will have several victories in the end. He took over several systems during his time.
😮 That scene with the Nightsisters resurrecting the down stormtroopers ....
Lol!
Laura outdoes herself with the descriptions in this episode!
Great episode. Great show. I definitely think someone being trained as a Jedi without powers, especially a mandalorian, is more interesting than what we got. Excited for season 2
Hera had that cake though.
I loved that finale now here’s my only negatives about the finale alone not the series as a whole the lack of Shin screentime and in my own opinion for story perspective we needed at least one more scene with Hera and that senator who thought that her whole story were fairytales and lies and we could and should have got that. because we got way more scenes then we needed to with the turtle animals I don’t remember the name of them but these are the two things that pissed me off and still piss me off after watching the finale twice now @ Rest In Peace to Ray Stevenson. My final thing I did feel the threat and dread throughout . @JohnRocha my reactions in emojis 🤯🤯🤯😲😲😲🤠🤠🤠😍😍😍😢
Hard agree with Laura concerning portrayal of Sabine & Hera. They felt so off to me that it took me out of the episodes at times.
I'd say the thing that makes the Jedi special isn't their ability to use the Force. It's also not using lightsabers. Their whole thing is the choice they make for the Light Side and their specific approach to life through discipline. Any and everyone being able to communicate with and use the Force dates all the way back to the Original Trilogy and Lucas' ideas behind it. And as Yoda tells Luke in Empire, he fails because he doesn't believe. Contrast that with someone like Han representing the normals of the galaxy who don't believe in all the hocus pocus of the Force. That seems to be why most people never connect with it. That is reflected in Sabine throughout this series; her block is because she doesn't believe and doesn't give herself over to it until she does.
Now with Hu-Yang they can tell stories going back 25k years. You can have a newly built Hu-Yang being more timid and like C3PO and getting his attitude and snarkiness thru the centuries
Damn they killed Morgan Elsbeth right when John was beginning to appreciate her character 😂. Her final showdown with Ahsoka really was spectacular. I liked it better than both the Baylan fights
I'm a little tired of people saying Ezra not needing a lightsaber on episode 7 and then creating one in 8 doesn't make sense. On 7 he said that for one padawan and the nomads, having backup (Sabine should be more effective with a saber after 10 years of not using one), Ezra took a blaster when fighting with trained troopers, no time to ask Sabine for the saber. Then, having prep time to fight a batallion of troopers, obviously is better having 4 lightsabers on the team instead of 3
I feel like they couldn’t show them hugging because the respective actors’ schedules probably didn’t aligned.
Esfandi needs to up his hand to hand game.
Great recap Laura!
I feel like theyre going to use this series as a way to redo 7, 8, and 9. Still will have the new Rey movie, and maybe somwhow merge the two through veil of the force.
Shin wants power. She lost to the Jedi so she can’t return and face Thrawn. Baylan went his own way. Her only move is to become the bandit queen of peridea…
PS- I found it slightly out of character and ironic that Thrawn would destroy the Night Sister/ Zeffo fortress, he being a lover, appreciator, and preserver of culture, art and antiquity. He just obliterated a major piece of architecture of a lost civilization! Bad Thrawn. Bad bad Thrawn.😂
The younglings!!
I watched it with subtitles on. All it said was droid noises, or something similar.
One change that could have made Ahsoka so much better - REPLACE SABINE SURPRISE JEDI-HOOD(Laura wish) with EZRA AND SABINE ROMANCE(Rocha wish)! But of course Filoni and George Lucas can’t write that thus bring in Claudia Gray of Lost Stars(Smets wish). Romance explains why she gave up the map, the couple goes home together so no trooper armor nonsense because they are found kissing each other thus no helmets and Ahsoka is alone on Peridea so we can have a real Ahsoka centric season 2 😊. Simple fix to Thrawn get Zahn 🎉 to co-write with Gray ❤, so that everyone can shine like Avengers(2012) instead of the gender bias where Sabine, Ahsoka and Night mothers outdo Ezra, Thrawn and Xiona. Baylan and Shin are good because of the balance and equality 😮. Gray and Zahn would fix writing illogic, more adult/child balance and weaving in the under developed parts(more answers) 😅.
Filoni is on record stating he doesn't believe in a romance between Ezra and Sabine. He acknowledges that some people are going ship it and is fine with letting them run with that for their head canon, if they want. But he doesn't see them that way, so he's not going to add it to any stories he's telling with them.
@@Playhouse76 don’t believe or Filoni can’t write it? If he as possessive of these characters like I’ve heard then he won’t or let anyone else do it for the good of the story. Maybe too close to them to put them in drama that will hurt them(Ahsoka whole season like that). Like a Parent who won’t let go or accept that his kids are adults, let them grow up. The deviations from source material have been good such as Spielberg’s Jaws & Jurassic Park are not the book authors original vision as well as famously Kubrick’s Shining to King’s upset then changes by Lucas possessive of the Originals like Greedo shooting first have the opposite effect. But moreover what do you think?
@@Starfytr It's not that he can't write it. It's that he doesn't want to write it. He doesn't see them as being romantically involved. It's not any more complex than that. Why do they need to be romantically involved? He's saying more about friendship and family with these two. That's been their history.
Who wouldn't want the Anakin & Luke conversation?
Let’s go !
I cried so hard at anakin force ghost.
I wouldn't be surprised if that announcement came too close to Harrison Ford's funeral. Lucasfilm has proven that their PR department is ass.
Yea hThe Force in the movies /TV is not a video game. Sabine unlocked and was blocked for years. In real life I had been learning to touch time. I had been trying off and on for years and one day it clicked. I could not only type certain letters in one row I can can more complex words and sentences. Am I amazing and perfect everytime no but I way better than before.
I loved the mandalorian Sabine, who's use of the Force had been at best, limited, tell her bestie, for whom she had traveled across Galaxies for and risked her life and the lives of everyone in her Galaxy, that she'd Force throw him across a giant cavity. If only she had a suit, with...I don't know...a grappling hook, attached to a high tensile wire, that could have been fired across the breach... 🤔
Thanks!
I really dislike the way you guys discredit people who have issues with things like fight choreography, or Thrawn's actions.
I hope the Doggos got out of that tower 😢
8.5 for the series.
"Thrawn needed to have a big win" by killing the Noti? wtf lol
Wipe them out! ALL OF THEM
I really think people need to stop comparing Star Wars or the upcoming movies to Marvel and Avengers. And comparing Thrawn to Thanos lowkey offensive
Bigger Baddy Snoke?
Since aabine can use the force like a jedi then force ghost han is actually han solo hence destroying the lore of the force...damn episode 9
Kevin didn't like it. He's suppressing it
Kenobi was a travesty.
The Sequels as a whole bother me.
Watch the show, book easter eggs are just that Easter eggs. The show is not the books and vice versa. Just review this show not the imaginary show you wish happened
Clunky thing sound like something would Kristian say 😒
On the subject of Hera being miscast, does anyone else think it could've been cool if Rosario and Mary switched places? Rosario would've had the hot mom vibes Hera should have and Mary would've been a spunkier more sarcastic Ahsoka closer to the animated version.
Anakin is the Father, Ashoka is the Daughter, and Sabine will become the Son. Mark my words
What about Baylan?
@@chillininthebasement I think Abeloth is calling to him and he will sacrifice himself to free her
@ariophoenix6907 Definitely possible. In my brain, I feel like they need The Son to complete the Trinity because they'll need all 3 to even have a shot against Abeloth.
What the hell is so hard in learning cursive.
Helloooooooooooooo, the HUG IS FOR SEASON TWO. GGGGEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
