  • Welcome to Enertech University, online training by Enertech. One of the most critical installation procedure is flushing, purging, filtering the loop before startup. The top cause of pump failure is water quality, air, and debris. This video will discuss the importance of water evaluation, filtering, removing debris, and adding antifreeze.

I am an apprentice that is new to geothermal units and watching these videos has made it so easy to learn! Thank you Geothermal University.

how often should the fluid be replaced?

We had 5 ton geothermal system replaced approximately 10 years ago and less than one year later, had lightning strike, needed to replace you again… Due to unscrupulous contractor, I am doubtful this was done correctly, and almost certain that system was never flushed at replacement either time any idea on who to call, how much it should cost and if in fact, there is a way to tell what my antifreeze level is currently with the status of the water without having this service done?

      * Needed to replace UNIT… NOT “you” and what the status, NOT ‘with’ 😅

I just use a sub pump and run it and loop it to a 30 gallon tank.

should air need to be removed if installed correctly? mine was installed in 2014 and now they say it needs to have air removed because the pressure is low. waterfurnace 5 series.

Yes, every geothermal loop should be flushed after the loop has been filled with water. Air will be trapped and will not be removed without flushing to loop with a flush cart. If the loop is dropping pressure, it could be a leak or it could be due to air in the loop.

@@johnpendleton7243 ok, because they charged me $250 to increase pressure with a hose to the petes port last summer. They said if it drops again will need to bring out the tank. But they did the original install and it is still under warranty, yet they claim it is not a warranty item, just maintenance. Waterfurnace of michiana.

@@johnpendleton7243 they told me their shouldn't be a leak just loop expansion. How common are leaks when installed by authorized waterfurnace dealers?

leaks are not common because the company will do a pressure test when the system is installed.
