2nd the Comeng. Best I have experienced in the electrified era ... alas I'm old enough to remember Vic Rail diesels and rattler carriages serving Werribee (now that was a whole other love affair as a 5 year old).
What people forget about the Comeng is, that they originally came with carpet and actually were a luxurious train that was very quiet. A bet a lot people don't know about the carpet. Also seats were very comfortable with a brownish and tan tan tartan upholstery.
@@Alexander_Dunncross city group will likely be 100% Siemens once the Comeng's are gone, I doubt they want to do the work on the Sandy line to allow X'Traps to run. Frankston will be 100% x'traps.
The tait sets are the greatest ever made. They were on the tracks for more than 60 years. Craftsmanship, beautifully made wood work. They were Edwardian beauties.
The extra standing space will be good. Probably a good idea to ditch the first row of seats near the entrance though to allow faster loading and unloading.
I think that having 6-Car suburban trains is probably better so it can accommodate more extra passengers and to make it lot more convenient. London could do with more trains especially 6-Car trains to operate on Southern’s suburban routes in South London. And new 5-Car or 6-Car trains for Scotrail to be used on the Glasgow & Strathclyde suburban lines. And to replace the Class 318 and Class 320.
1:27 the side destination board looks really bad it should be the same font colour and background like the front destination board. 1:33 I think the doors are a mix of siemens and and x crapolis doors
Thanks for the video. I find the front ugly as, and they remind me of a Vline train so that’s not great haha. Some bits are ok. But I like all our older trains more 😕. Thank for content 👍
I really would have loved to go see this. My dad works with a leading disability peak body and he was possibly gonna go see it for work but he didn't. Great video as always. Also, would you be able to do a video focusing on the Metro Tunnel and how test trains are now using it? I've been wanting to see any content from UA-camrs featuring test trains in the tunnel but haven't yet, so I'm not sure if it's something people are able to capture or not but thought I'd ask nonetheless.
No siemens are only 20 years old, no need to scrap them for decades. probably will get rid of them on the Frankston Upfield and Craigieburn lines and displace onto the Werribee, Williamstown and Sandringham lines.
@@eetswaadlay2288 They are building the HCMTs for extra services needed to run the Metro Tunnel, the X'trapolis 2.0 will be replacing the last of the Comengs

I actually reckon these 2.0's look better. The HCMT looks too much like a try-hard high speed train. And I know its nose is specifically like that to deter idiots from going train surfing, but it's overdone.
They can't be the best train Melbourne has ever seen on its rails. Comeng already holds that title.

Crazy how the Sandringham line will be the only one that’s not running xtrapolis, hcmt and xtrapolis 2.0s
next year X’Trapolis 100s will be running on the Sandringham line as part of the cross city group.
@@Alexander_Dunncross city group will likely be 100% Siemens once the Comeng's are gone, I doubt they want to do the work on the Sandy line to allow X'Traps to run. Frankston will be 100% x'traps.
The X'trapolis interior is like a cross between a V/line and HCMT
Oh yes gotta love seeing the drivers cabin

Very intercity style seats, will fit when longer distance routes will come (like when melton gets electrified)
... in 50 years time.
Melton is less distance than Pakenham. Not really "longer distance" :P
@@babyboomertwerkteam5662 yet, melton is considered part of regional rail.
Melton will probably get HCMTs as itll be an extension/branch of the Pakenham-Sunbury line
Great video all the information you were giving us was so helpful and I can't wait to see them in service
Going to be the best trains in Melbourne.
Thankyou!
Only if they use airbag suspension.
At least they made the destination board easy to read on the 2.0.. the C-Series in Perth seems to be quite small
It’s quite nice - it’s clear like the 2nd generation X’Trapolis 100 displays but with a stylish font similar to the original Siemens ones.
The extra standing space will be good. Probably a good idea to ditch the first row of seats near the entrance though to allow faster loading and unloading.
So it’s all the way in Tullamarine, it still looks good.

Kinda look like a cross between a HCMT, X'trapolis, E class tram and a VLocity.
i live so close to tullamarine, where in tullamurine?
Somewhere!
i really want to see how the horn, acceleration and deceleration sounds like!
Same!
Basically same as C series in Perth with differences to front end and non plug doors.
Is it gonna have airbag or spring suspension? Surely airbag, coz if not it will barely be an improvement over current xtraps 🤣
Need more seats - probs if your only going a few stops, but bad if you travel to the lines ends.
It looks like a tram from the front
When will these trains start testing on the Melbourne rails?
Not date yet as far as I am aware
Not too keen on those seats. They are like the seats on VLocity sets 80-92, which are dreadful to sit in.

"Assembled" in Melbourne, odd choice of wording
Does that mean the shells will be built overseas like the HCMT and only fitted out in Australia?
Not sure. That was just what I was told when I went. They said assembled in Ballarat

How many pantographs will it have? Hopefully more than 2.
