  • A complete 37 minute sped up to 8 minutes showing the whole hike/walk from Boca de Tomatlán (Puerto Vallarta) to the beautiful Colomitos Beach in Cabo Corrientes.
Located 1000 yards (5 minutes in water taxi) to the west of Boca de Tomatlán (11 miles / 17 km from Puerto Vallarta's main square), Colomitos Beach (Playa Colomitos) is a small little clear-sand beach located between the clear emerald sea waves, rounded rocks and a small creek and waterfall that sneaks out of the lush tropical jungle.

There are two ways to get to the beach and cove, one, the easiest and recommended, for those that are not into hiking through the jungle and going up and down slopes, is by sea in one of the local "pangas", water taxis that depart from the pier in Boca de Tomatlan (they charge a few dollars per person for the ride).
The other, shown in this video, is to walk from Boca to Colomitos along a path that edges along the Horcones River, then the Boca de Tomatlán Bay, then goes into the jungle to come out by Colomitos beach on the other side. This video shows the complete route of how to get to Colomitos Beach from Boca de Tomatlan, Jalisco, Mexico.
The video is sped up and you see the full 37 minute walk in a little over 8 minutes.

Tuve la oportunidad de compartir con Mauricio y su esposa en Colomitos.
Sus vídeos son para reconectar con la naturaleza. Así que vamos por las 5000 vistas para apoyarlos..

Is there any overnight accommodations or restaurants there?

There seems to be a Villa there that is available (expensive, 400 dollars a night - Villa Maroc), but other than that, no.

My experience here was a disappointment.. the hike was ok at first, then. Difficult and dangerous. The water taxis eat you alive by Exploitation, then you go to eat at the restaurant in boca by the beach, order a fish taco and get 3 soggy burritos. Was my last day in mexico. Meal ruined. Almost passed out during hike. Then 200 pesos for a 5 min ride back to boca from colomitos Beach that was dirty, rough. End of September. Should have stayed at the hotel.. 😢

The restaurant used to be good, they closed and reopened, they obviously changed something important. Maybe the chef? The hike is great, there and back, but you have to be in shape. 200 for tha water taxi is abusive. The beach itself is destroyed now with an ugly construction. Sad.

We’ve eaten at multiple Boca beach restaurants. Zero complaints!
