    Such a cute tiny combine.

    I've seen this combine in other Japanese videos and it looked quite cool. Thanks for giving us a closer look at this! I'm always amazed at the machines the Japanese come up with to help them work.

    Early next year i plan to expand my rural Japan cafe to include rescuing stray cats in my area to turn it into a unique Cat Cafe. Any help is very much appreciated.

    Breakdowns are certainly a universal part of farming. I personally spent about as much time working on machinery as haying for the first week of the first cut hay this year, it can get a bit irritating. I'd surely like to give running one of those little self propelled jobs a try, I'm sure its a bit different from what I've run in the past and certainly much easier than the cutting with a grain binder and threshing with a threshing machine. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful week.

      I used to work on a dairy farm and i can fix a rotary blindfolded, but my job was milking cows. You learn to fix stuff if you have to and i wish i had engine skills here as this is a must if you want to farm. I knew the fuel lines were blocked as it is a diesel from sitting over winter but wasn't familiar with the equipment so didn't want to take the lines off to have a go at it. Diesels i am familiar with but gasoline engines i have no experience at all.

      @RealRuralJapan I started out farming raising hogs and milking cows, then sold the dairy cows and went to sheep. After an injury and a move I went to running beef and produce, now I'm just a small sheep and goat producer. ( Might explain why I find the farming videos so interesting). Gasoline engines are mostly what I started with, older diesels are even easier as no points, plugs or condensers to mess with, I pretty much stick with older equipment that I can do most of repairs on, newer equipment can leave me baffled.

    Awesome - must feel really great to get your first harvest! The way you drive the combine makes me think you must be pretty good at video games 😂
    Did you guys rent the machine or you bought it for your club - does it cost much to lease / buy second-hand?
    Nice one - pleased for you 👍🏻 Cheers, Darren

    • @RealRuralJapan
      @RealRuralJapan  7 місяців тому +1

      I haven't played video games since the Commodore 64 was a thing! Secondhand machinery is much cheaper here because professional farmers update their stuff often and many receive tax incentives to do so there is a lot on the market. Don't know about leasing.

    Awesome man. I'd love to have a go on that sort of device. Looks like fun. What's next, drying then milling the wheat you harvested? How does that work?

    • @RealRuralJapan
      @RealRuralJapan  7 місяців тому +2

      My mate bought a grain dryer and we both don't know how to use it yet so we will see how that goes. As for milling there are small companies that do this so i will go there and see what it is all about and film it for everyone.

    I never imagined that wheat was grown in Japan. What do you do with it - share it among the co-op? How much flour does that field produce?
    I appreciate that good rice is very yummy but never noticed any difference between flours.

    • @RealRuralJapan
      @RealRuralJapan  7 місяців тому +2

      I will be using mine in the cafe if it is up to standard. If you get a baguette made with the wrong flour you will notice immediately something isn't right.

  • @dannybitz5015

    This is the second time you ran out of diesel for a piece of machinery. 😆 How come no one ever brings a spare jerry can of fuel? How did you like operating the machine? It looked like you had to constantly adjust it to keep in in line with the rows of wheat.

    • @RealRuralJapan
      @RealRuralJapan  7 місяців тому +4

      The ground isn't flat, so you constantly have to adjust so the tines up and down, so they don't dig into the ground. Also, the wheat needs to be cut at optimum length, so it goes into thresher best. It only takes a minute to get more fuel as we around the corner is no biggie.

    I'm sure American wheat farmers watching your little toy harvester & laughing their heads off.
    I'm sure your wheat is quality but the production costs must be sky high.
    Wonder how this can be economically viable even for a hobby ? Would love to hear the numbers - costs vs market sell price. Machinery like Soy bean / corn 🌽 dual purpose. Nice !

    • @RealRuralJapan

    Don’t see many towed trailers or campers here and I suspect it has something to do with the traffic rules that dictate that a towing licence is required along with a towing hitch inspection and issuance of certificate. Instead, I’ve seen kei trucks with a snow mobile or jet ski haphazardly placed in the bed. Campers seem to be the same, a specifically built camper like the Toyota Grand Hiace or a truck with a camper mounted in the bed. I knew a bloke in Zushi who decided to modify a Toyota Hiace van into a camper. He cut a hole in the van’s roof and mounted an AC unit. He also added a small kitchenette. When it was time to get his car inspection done he had a damn hard time getting it to pass.
    You can’t even drive a vehicle equipped with a manual transmission unless your driver’s licence denotes it. A fact that I was unaware of when I went through the licensing process.

    • @RealRuralJapan
      @RealRuralJapan  7 місяців тому +3

      Australia has the manual transmission license too that came out about 25 years ago due to people passing their test and being unable to drive properly. I think towing a trailer should be part of the license process because it is a basic skill everyone should be able to do.
