- The MMDA returned to Juan Luna (Divisoria) after receiving so many complaints from commuters and residents, about vendors obstructing the sidewalks and road.
People often talk about giving consideration for vendors just trying to earn a living but they forget about the side effect of the congestion and traffic.
The ordinary commuter spends an extra hour or two in traffic because the roads are blocked. Pedestrians are forced to walk in the middle of the road and hope they don't get hit by passing vehicles. And how about when there's an emergency and the fire truck or ambulance can't pass through?
And when you ask these vendors, they'll tell you they paid 2,000 - 8,000 for a "permit" and then 200-500 per day.
With that kind of money, a legitimate market or shopping center could be built to accommodate the vendors.
But of course many vendors don't want to operate in a legitimate market because it requires customers to make an effort to visit you. They prefer to setup shop on a busy road where people will be funneled to their stalls by the heavy traffic and congestion.

I really appreciate what sir Bong Nebria and his team (MMDA) has done for several years already since last administration. His firm directive to clear the road is a manifestation of that dedication to clear the roads of Metro Manila...
The whole country appreciates your clearing operations Sir Bong Nebrija. Be firm in clearing the roads for the people are happy to see that the roads blocked by had headed vendors are cleared by your team.
They should try Banawe St. in QC. Vehicles are parked on the sidewalk in front of the business establishment mostly dealing with auto parts and car accessories. Vehicles are being fixed and repaired with there. Chinatown is worse. The Chinese are untouchables in Chinatown.
I finally understand it. The Government is spending too much budget to give us good highways and streets and it seems like we don't feel it. The problem is our fellow citizens. They don't understand the use of pedestrian side walk and roads, markets and public roads .

there is a saying...time is money....money is being lost when people are stuck in traffic...this is one part of why there is traffic...roads and sidewalks are lost and these people do not understand the concept of time is money...u not only lose money being stuck in traffic, u lose other things like time with family....time to get strict and issue fines and confiscation

@@dangiroux7065 I disagree...the government can't fix everything overnight or in just 1 term....it is a process that the next administration has to continue. I don't see a dictatorship in the current president, say that to the Philippine public and you will get overruned by supportive majority. No president will ever be perfect, but at least be for the people. Duterte acts on behalf of his country. Don't get fooled by western media and western politics!

The ultra poor don't even understand the repurcussions of having too much babies when they are already struggling to eat or are homeless. A cycle needs to be broken somehow, can't blame the government all the time. The government is so overburdened and the Philippines can't fixed everything overnight. The people needs to do their share and not accept status quo. People need to start to have a vision if they want positive changes. It has to start with the people who needs to understand that laws keep people in line and maintains balance. Take out politics and some problems are easily fixed!

In first world countries, law enforcers don't argue with citizens. It is not their job to explain any law. As the name of their position say, they are just law enforcers and that is what they are paid to do - to enforce the law. PERIOD

These vendors are selfish. Gusto nila n sila ang masunod. They dont care about the Philippines nor its law and order or the traffic or being a dirty country.

Juan Luna St. needs to be cleared by MMDA compared to some streets in Divisoria coz it is best/alternate road goin to Roxas Blvd, Escolta, Taft Ave etc and if goin to Caloocan, Malabon etc

It's about time for Philippines to clear the streets from Vendors! They are the number one cause of littering, garbage on the streets, and traffic jam. Please explain to everyone that you just can't put a vendor stand on walkways, streets, overpass, underpass. Everyone needs to have a selling permit at approved locations only.

You can't solve a problem without thinking of the consequences. The government should solve the problem while considering everyone.
Regardless of whether the MMDA officials implement the resolution or not, a problem is guaranteed. If vendors are allowed there, they would block the way, on the other hand, if they are prohibited there, they would lose their livelihood.
I'm not blaming the MMDA officials that implemented what was tasked to them, I'm blaming the ones above. They should have planned the decision more thoroughly. This resolution is disgusting.
You should not only think of the majority nor minority, consider them in general. It would be better if you removed the vendors there without neglecting them, just like providing them with means of living in another other place or alotting them a desired place for them to earn money.
