- One common question I receive is whether property owners also own or have exclusive usage rights to the sidewalk and road in front of their property.
Those are typically government owned and for public use. E.g. the sidewalks are for pedestrians and the roads are for vehicles.
This question usually comes up because people see sidewalks that have been blocked by chain fences, signs placed in the road to “reserve” parking, garages erected on the sidewalk and in some cases whole buildings that extended their walls.
Even though I see it every day, it still amazes me every time I see a property that has increased their space by extending their walls over the sidewalk. I just can’t imagine how anyone could ever think it’s okay.

I can't help but admire the patience of these MMDA guys (Sir Bong & team). Its a waste of time arguing ang explaining to people who justifies their mistakes. The error is in the Barangay Not doing their jobs at the on-set. The barangay can stop these during the construction stage. But, then he might be a friend of the local officials or even a relative.. Hehehe.
I always wonder where Mr. Bong Nebrija gets his incredible patience.

Wow kudos to Col Nebreja as he gave respect to the old man to speak and given him enough time to give his side, eventhough he knows that the old man is wrong.

Napaka simple ng batas "huwag harangan ang sidewalk" bat naman dinila mintindihan saka yung mga dumadaan naman dapat matuto ng dumaan sa sidewalk dahil kapag ako nagmomotor ako kahit yung sidewalk maluwag nasa lansangan.

I've heard that a lot of times. People saying something is the law or policy, but cannot cite any source or really go into any detail at all.
such despicable behavior, people who made up things like this should be prosecuted. The reality is this works on a normal Filipino citizen since most of us are not properly educated when the simple laws, we just know what is right or wrong. Unlike american's even teens actually knew about their rights and the law as long as it favors them.

Sa totoo lang, pag naglakad ka sa sidewalk, iba iba ang porma. Iba iba ang disenyo. Hindi uniform kasi ang mga contractor na kinukuha ng LGU ay hindi sumusunod sa kanila kundi sa mga residente na nakikiusap na baguhin ang disenyo para sa advantage nila. Sa part ng LGU, wala ata silang project monitoring sa actual site kaya nagkalokoloko na.
