Brooks Howell’s comment about putting your daughter’s crafting stuff in the dining room was an “Aha” moment for me.(I do understand now that all of our suggestions about more storage furniture in the dining room isn’t going to work because it’s smaller than it looks and you can’t block the radiators.) I think she suggested it because there doesn’t seem to be any “playing” in the playroom. You mentioned once about how your daughter likes to be downstairs where you two are. (understandably). So brace yourself,I have another wild idea! What if,for the next five years or so,you completely empty out the cabinets on either side of the lounge fireplace and fill it with all of the craft projects and supplies and games that will fit. If downstairs is where it’s always going to happen, why not embrace the space? However, what that would mean is really decluttering and downsizing her stuff so that the rest all fit in her bedroom. (I REALLY think the books stored all under her bed would actually work.) So now, instead of a playroom that no one can enter,it could become your office for Zoom meetings, etc. The beautiful wardrobe could house items from downstairs that you don’t use as much as the crafts. You could even find a pretty cabinet to store your sentimental items and use the beautiful dresser for all of the family’s office supplies. (Can’t remember what you store in the lounge cabinets, photo albums perhaps?) One thing that all of the professional organizers agree on is to deliberately store items where they seem to always end up. Maybe you could just take a temporary leave from job number two, since you seem to want to keep it, so that you could really make big strides. It would be very hard to do all of the big things that you have in mind, with only snippets of time and energy. Sophia from “My Great Challenge” who also works full time, has a UA-cam channel, runs an Etsy shop and has a husband and two teenage sons, will often take some her vacation time, like an entire week,to stay home and do her projects. She’s very realistic about how she spends her time.

@@lauramitchell6725 this is a superb idea and I'm going to have a look what I can clear out to store some regularly used games... maybe our family board games like Ticket to ride etc!

Yes! It gets much easier to get rid of items the more you do it. It is like freedom. You get time back. And it saves money as you start looking at new purchases differently. Not to mention the mental clarity. Clutter does clutter the mind and add stress.
With your daughter getting older and nearing her teens, you may want to consult with her on the getting rid of the playroom and converting it to another space.

Hi Emma, have you heard of the decluttering game? You basically declutter 1 item on day 1, 2 items on day 2, 15 on Day 15 etc till Day 30. It amasses to a fair amount come month end. Just a suggestion. Have a nice day. I thoroughly enjoy your videos.

I just had a short come up with my feed that I thought I would tell you about. The woman has a washer dryer set up off her kitchen in what looks like the same size as your pantry. Not sure if you would be willing to give up your pantry, but then you could have a dishwasher and a tumble dryer.

Wow... you pack a lot of stuff for your daughter. I am a Minimalist when it comes to packing. 2 shoes only... tennis shoes and flip flops and we wear the tennis shoes so its only flip flops in the suitcase. I then only pack 4 outfits total and wearing 1 outfit and then washing our clothes at least 1x or 2x if its longer vacation. Only 1 pjs and i don't bring jewelry, just the ones I wear the day of travel. 2 bras and 4 underwear, So much easier 😅

But traveling for a family of 5 is a lot more then 3 people. But we always just bring 1 bag for Chad and I and then the 3 kids share 1 large one plus we all have a back pack as our carry on. Hi Emma, Religious men of certain groups aren’t allowed to touch any women but their own wife; under any circumstances, ever. Please don’t be offended; it’s how it is in the “rule book”. I’m sure your accountant is well versed in British culture; he might have been born in the UK. Don’t throw away a great accountant for this reason. If he was rude about it, that’s not nice. If he kindly stated he doesn’t touch other women, give him the benefit of the doubt. Please take a few minutes to google and study his culture to learn why. He’s not purposely being a jerk. I hope this helps you understand and feel better. 💕💕

Thank you for this comment 🙏❤️ i wasn't sure if i would comment myself on this matter, but its been on my mind ever since it came up in the live stream 😢 to start with, i been following you Emma for a long period of time and always enjoy your videos and always been having high regards towards you and been thinking that you are such an amazing woman with so much knowledge and wisdom and education, but this really thru me of the wagon😢 im sorry to say that i find it really ignorant to say it like that, just because he would not shake your hand. Here in Sweden we deal right now with the right wing politics and its been making the climate really ugly. I haven't been commenting anything about religion before, but me myself are muslim. I do not shake hands with other men. Just because i do not touch other men, only my husband. But lets say that the man ( the accountant) would have been a germafobe, and refused to shake your hand for that reason, would you have been respecting him still? It has nothing to do with disrespect or that he wanted to be rude, and he is hired to do a job in the first place, not to be have to shake your hand because you live in England. I apologize but i really got triggered by this since its actually is coming of as islamofobia. Im sure that if you would go/ move to a muslim country you would still keep your tradition, and your values, and not change your entire personality just because you lived in another country with other customs. Just reconsider your thoughts about this, as the world is now we really don't need more discrimination. Best wishes Jenny from Sweden 🌸
