    Emma if you are going to hold off on the sale, at least contain everything. That way you keep your spare room available for use & keep yourself from going batty from knowing there is COMPLETE chaos behind that closed door. Just get a few inexpensive tubs that stack, label them on 2 sides & the top as "Sale Items 10/2024" or something. Make sure you have enough room to "grow" if that's your plan for the spring. Otherwise - especially once Holiday Decor is out & Gifts appear you will wonder why you bother at all to keep moving these things around your house. - - have it be a gift you give you & your family if nothing else. ❤❤

    This channel is such a great find you're a treasure. I have to say your understairs cupboard looks pretty organised and non-horrific!! You have to have somewhere to put things like that, though I know how you feel, especially under scrutiny. The bits and bobs and housework and mental load of life is neverending, i really like the way you're including the way we should share the load, or rather, it should be shared. I also did the one slipper thing today (strangely, often not finding the other slipper, never just wearing one...) that was so funny to see!! x

    You are so right, housework feels never ending. I've got 5 cats so I'm always cleaning up lol. My husband has had this week off work which is a rarity and he commented on Monday that my goodness if you didn't clean up all the time wouldn't the house quickly get in a state. 😅 Don't get me wrong I love my cats to bits but it's hard to keep up, you should see what I vac up daily, they're definitely worth it though. I think a sale in the spring would be good because you'll have even more by then and hopefully get a bigger profit from it all. That's what we are doing. We have dedicated a space in the loft and piled loads up there to do a car boot in the spring xx

    Hi Emma, Bea from Australia here 🇦🇺 thank you for your recommendation to try using a timer when starting on the decluttering journey, having a time limit has helped ❤ I suffer from multiple chronic conditions, so i tire very quickly. Thank you for being my "decluttering body double". You are doing a great job, keep it up 👍 P.s. You’re making progress. Decluttering and getting to the point that you can clean without having to worry about clutter,will happen. Just take it one day ata time. ❤ when our youngest was about six years old,we cleaned out the closet under the stairs. It was her private space. She loved it. She’s 22 years old now. She talks about that closet a lot,lol. Especially on a bad day. She’s Autistic,very high functioning. Has ADHD,Depression and Anxiety disorders. So working is tough for her. But she keeps going😊You can get good shoe storage from IKEA. They’re very slim and have pull down drawer type storage.

    I understand we all have different ideas on parenting and child raising. As a child therapist, I share how much good chores do for our children. 10 or 15 minutes of chores each day for a preteen is reasonable and teach lifeskills. Movement is so important for our bodies. Researchers suggest that we don't sit longer than 20 minutes at a time. If I still had children at home who had lots of homework, I would make statements like... Please set the timer for 20 minutes. When it goes off, take one arm full of your birthday presents upstairs and put them away. Or take up the stack of laundry and put them away in your drawers before coming back downstairs to work some more. Also with her doing these things she saves you time so you can go out and do more fun things and not feel like you're not keeping up with your home. When we were children, our shows had commercials, and that was when I would get up and get things done. I even did that during your video just now. I would watch for a while, then took a break to switch over a load of laundry or gather the trash to go out.

    Your cabbage and broccoli chopping reminded me I have a cauliflower in the refrigerator. I am going to go wash that up and cut it up for preparation for curry tomorrow. I like to have somethings done in advance, so the process doesn't take as long. I had so many boxes of stuff sitting in our 3 season porch, waiting for a good time to take it to the thrift store. It nearly drove me mad and when we finally loaded it up and hauled it away, I really kicked myself for waiting so long because it opened up so much space, once it was removed. I can't imagine how much stuff you are going to have after you sort the hall closet etc., just how many bags of stuff you will have cluttering the landing. It may end up a lesson in disappointment, when you are only able to sell a few things. It seems an awful time and space thief just to teach your daughter about money. I know someone mentioned putting it out for free. That would be teaching her a giving heart and that's important too.

    When it comes to whether or not to keep your daughter’s school books, in my experience with my 3 children, it’s not worth keeping anything from Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) & only worth keeping books from Key Stage 4 when she’s doing her GCSE years. All my kids used their exercise books from Year 10 & 11 as revision material, but not from years before that. I did keep some from Yr 9 but that was only because at my kids’ school they picked their GCSE options at the end of Year 8 & sat a couple of exams at the end of Year 10, but we only kept the Yr9 books that were for the exams. When your daughter goes into her GCSE years, her school should tell you what revision guides to buy & for what exam boards in particular. Different schools use different exam boards. You’ll be able to go to somewhere like WHSmiths & get her work books & revision guides that will cover everything she’ll need to know, plus there’s a lot of free revision material online. Plus she won’t be doing all the subjects that she is now, she’ll drop some & possibly gain some new ones when she picks her GCSE options. If she’s not referring back to any of her books from the previous years, it means she doesn’t actually need them & will not gain anything new from them. Personally, I kept text books & revision guides on hand, but I got rid of exercise books. The only exception would be an English book with an amazing story they’d written or something for example. Hope this helps x

    You sometimes ask how we keep our homes tidy when having a project going+ life. Short answer, we don't. 😉 When I decluttered and organized a room that overwhelmed me, the rest of the house suffered. I spendt 10-15 minutes in each room every day to make it ok. Now I have reached the maintain stage of decluttering, and can easy keep my house tidy. But before it was impossible with projects going. Can you ask the parents at your daughters school if you can make a sale? Instead of tables you can use sheets on the floor to gather the sell stuff. Maybe borrow the sports hall or the schools parking lot?

  • @esther61374
    @esther61374 2 дні тому

    Instead of doing a sale with your daughter can you just give her some money? I once paid my son when he was younger, 4 or 5 years old maybe, $2 for a pile of clutter. He was thrilled and so was I. Another thought is to maybe set your donations out in front of your house with a sign that says FREE. Then it’s not a burden on the thrift stores and you don’t have to take it anywhere. You could advertise it on marketplace and I’m sure you would enjoy watching how quickly it gets picked up. We used to live on a busy street and it worked great for us. People are struggling so it might be a blessing to others.

    When you are picking up toys in the lounge, your daughter is on the couch and the TV is on. Just curious why she's not cleaning up the toys. When you were working in the dining room I noticed that you set notebooks and such flat in the basket. If you stand them up on their ends/bottom, you won't have to take everything out to find what you need. You definitely have given your daughter and continue to give her a secure attachment! The way that people parent definitely has changed over the years, especially as new research has came out. I agree, hoping you have a sale in a week or two, early October.

I dont mean to be mean.😮❤ I again have to say lil Emma did amazing on her puppet show.😂🎉❤ What is the war games your hubby play? What is the point? Like video games? Or hobby with painting? Curious?
